like most malaysians, most of the replies here were more of wanting to 'receive' than to 'give'.
receive meaning want the family, government to support and sponsors to give money befor e any hard work hoi, wake up lah!
family support: believe me if you start winning the mega bucks they'll stop bugging you.
government's role is to assist, not to lead. if they did, i'm sure they'd be doing do a lousy job. (btw, what sort of person wants to believe in our govt?!?)
sponsors, are business people. they sponsor to get more advertisement coverage. so if there are only 8 monkeys playing in a tourney with no one watching... sponsor/advertisers would bah, why waste money?
to make e-sports successful, is to only have dedicated e-sportmen. government, sponsors and support only come in later. if one is not dedicated enough, its useless.
i've done so many tournaments, n i see more whiners than winners. such as: why is the entry fee so high, why is there no double elimination, why is it on a sunday when i'm not free, etc.... all selfish answers.
yes, i'm referring to all you wannabes! all talk and no action. to have e-sports a reality in malaysia, players (yes, you again) need to do the following:
1. play more variety of games. many e-sport tournaments play different games and needs a variety of people to play. e.g., cs players chould play bf, cod4, etc while warcraft 3 players play cnc3, dawn of war, starcraft, etc.
2. participate, EVEN IF YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE. losing is a apart of sportsmanship. a winner is also a sporting losers, they'll take a defeat straight in face and work hard to win it back. whiners are just going to be 'whining' forever and ever, they'll just give up.
3. think. the world doesn't revolve around gamers.
ah my rants. seriously, i doubt e-sports will make if we have whiners. anyone with constructive ideas?
