abt the your conversation wif careline, they mean to say tat upgrades/maintainence is done in different location and at different intervals? or are only D68 badly affected?
funny, i din experience any turtle speed over my side for these past 1 wk
could it be tat i am on D98 and being spared the 5GB limition @64kbps limition

ahha u could hav exceeded the 5GB leh icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif

You think my hostel line stays like that? Only after 3 a.m. and until 7 a.m.

I don't know this is what he told me.
I also didn't, yesterday's evening was still fine. You don't be that sure yet. rolleyes.gif

Yeah right, I have not received any SMS regarding that. yawn.gif

Added on May 7, 2008, 2:20 pmI've tried running speedtest again and today's speed is still extremely bad. Well, surprisingly ping is quite good. The download speed needs centuries to get it finished running 100%. doh.gif mad.gif

I've called Celcom careline again to know the status of my line. The person said I didn't infringe the 5GB limited download bandwidth. So, he presumed it must be something to do with the maintenance activity.

Hopeless with this kind of speed. More than half a day already and I really can't stand this anymore. sweat.gif shakehead.gif doh.gif mad.gif vmad.gif ohmy.gif icon_question.gif Luckily, now is study week so it might be good to stop me from using the Internet so often. Well, obviously I'm trying to convince myself. doh.gif

Well, this might be caused by my computer, so to test further I'll test it on my housemate's laptop, see if this problem still persists.

Rm98/m with so called 3.5mbps using Huawei mobile connect 3G+ usb modem, shared with only 3 people in office.

Using it at office here since our area here don't have freaking fixed line for 2 years + [even after been complained with other shop lots here to TMnut]...

Since we're using it in IT field [those involving stocks distributions, servicing computers, etc etc]...and use a lot in downloading drivers and pricing leaflets.

And today receiving that 'friendly threats' about 5GB allocation and wth, everything slowed even until slow than GPRS.

Hey, we're doing business here :/.

Gonna complain to celcom.

Satisfied with their service? NO...why?

- Frequent disconnections
- Sometime can't even connect to network [called careline, and they said my usb modem faulty? heck, its brand new...after few 'arguing', then they admits its their network service outage, wth...hey, be honest lah]
- Slow speed and not consistent speed at all.
- And now wth @ 5GB allocation? Care to ATTRACT so many customers, but...put a limits to them?
- Now HOW we supposed to do our stuff?...shyt celcom, gtfo.

Speedtest result today...barely can run the test...

Don't have other options here at Sarawak...either you stuck with Celcom or Screamyx, or rots with 56k [provided if your area got fixed line dry.gif]...

Don't subscribe to them at all, lousy service. Wait for DiGi... >_<!!!

Thank you celcom, being the worst jerk isp whole time.

GameSky, you are not alone I'm getting the about same speed as yours. See my above posts for the results. However, I've called them and they verified that I didn't infringe the 5GB limited download bandwidth, so it wasn't that my speed got throttled. It is most likely the maintenance activity that is going on and it is expected to be ready on 9.5.08. So, we can only wait until then...

Alright guys, I have tested on my housemate's laptop and it wasn't my computer problem as the download speed was still as bad as mine. Three possibilities at the mean time:
1) Maintenance activity
2) Sim card problem
3) Modem problem

I will assume point 1 is the one with higher possibility to occur. grumble.gif

Added on May 7, 2008, 7:04 pmSurprising loading LYN page is still fast. Well, just that to test speedtest is horrible. shakehead.gif

Added on May 7, 2008, 7:17 pmDon't care already as long I can surf to LYN quite smoothly now... Other sites wait after maintenance is done. hmm.gif
Well, earlier surf to LYN was a headache, I must admit there is slight improvement compared to earlier, hope it can be rectified as soon as possible. nod.gif

In my opinion, we can't really fight them off for this fair usage policy since it is all along stated. Let's just focus on the service's stability first, if it isn't stable then certainly the fair usage policy isn't helping much too.

The service itself not really stable, what to do again with fair policy :s

And they still 'greedy'-ly asks people to subscribes to their services yet their service is worsen day-by-day.

Seriously...eh...wait, they under TM...

oh...ok...

Pay RM68-98 per month...but receiving this kind of service...

I guess I'll use my DiGi EDGE, tho its a bit slow but the service not sucks like them.

Things are getting interesting (or, for me, extremely painful). A little bit of background. I have two D50 lines. One line has been used to download well in excess of 5Gb monthly, no warnings. The other, hardly used, and I received the SMS warning yesterday, on exceeding the 5Gb limit consistently. This line could still connect at HSDPA yesterday evening when I switched off my notebook to go to sleep.

This morning, turned on the notebook, and it would only connect at UMTS, using the SIM which received the warning yesterday. No matter how many times I unplugged the modem, quit and restarted the connection manager software, or rebooted the computer. I changed data cards as well - from my usual Huawei E220 to a Sierra 875U. Same thing. Both reporting very good signals. The Huawei reports on average, 93%. The Sierra 3G Watcher software reports somewhere between -80 and -86 dBm. The line has been extremely slow today, no matter which internal IP range I connect to. Can't use it to download anything at all.

Meanwhile, the other SIM has been continuously used for 18 hours each day, downloading, on average more than 2Gb daily. Still going strong. No SMS warnings, no problems connecting to HSDPA. Same location.

So, from this experience, I have come to the conclusion that:

(1) Celcom is screwing around with this 5Gb limit, and they're NOT doing it correctly. Accounts which have exceeded 5Gb do not get warned, those that did not are getting warnings
(2) They are telling a lie to D98 (or in my case, D50) users where if you exceed the 5Gb limit, they throttle you to 1mbps. In my case, the speed for the entire day today is hovering between GPRS and UMTS, nowhere close to the 1mbps speed
(3) Network maintenance has got nothing to do with our current problems
(4) Celcom, generally, is run by a bunch of in-bred retarded imbeciles

Any thoughts from you guys?
