I still think it's card-dependant. Has nothing to do with mobo or batch. If you are lucky and get the right card, you can flash it.

yup but the Galaxy GSOs are a little bit special...can say in a class of their own, hehe. Until they start shipping with 6 memory chips la...then only it's just a renamed 8800GS.

haha, AFAIK only me and ksking manage to success 100% flash this card hehe
If you screw up, when booting, press ctrl+alt+del while booting and the card will switch to the backed up bios. Then go back into windows and reflash to the default firmware. You can use rivatuner or gpuz to back up your current bios. You can also download from another forumer who posted it a few pages back. after modding, rivatuner will show 9600GSO but it will be 128SP, 256-bit and 512MB memory. I think everything else stays the same (ROP, etc). Then you can OC to 8800GTS speeds and if you compare with the actual 8800GTS, difference is only in the ROP, if not mistaken. |

yea...i think it might be PCIE issue. My mobo is PCIE 1.1 and not the newer 2.0. Maybe 2.0 cannot flash...

haha. BTW there's a group called Skullptura which does great rips of PC games. Perfect for people looking to backup their legally purchased games. Their rips are amazing, they can compress a 10GB installation of Grid down to a mere 1.7GB. And after extracting you get the full 10GB, nothing ripped. How do they do it???
Assassin's Creed rip by Skullptura is about 3gb only, go look for the torrent if you own a copy of the game for backup purposes. Added on June 9, 2008, 8:50 pmbut they haven't ripped mass effect yet tho...the full ISO is 7gb...i wonder how small they can get it, hehe. Yeah man...100c is just crazy high...get an aftermarket cooler. Your card will thank you for it.
What about used price for a fully functional modded 9600GSO? I dun think it's mobo dependant gua...if let's say it works for the person;s mobo, how much do you think that would be worth? |

hey i have a question for you guys...i'm not gonna splurge on an aftermarket cooler, but i wanna get a better TIM like artic cooling cermique. My question is, can i take off my stock cooler, clean off the stock TIM with nail polish then put on the new TIM?
what about the ram? they use thermal pads right? if i take em off...then it won't work? |

then you hit the barrier already. remember not all cards are manufactured the same. on the microscopic level, many defects can happen. Be happy with your clocks...or spend money to buy a better card.

one thing i notice...atitool not working with my 3d card...whenever i turn it on to test for artifact, my fan will automatically shut off...that's why my temp go up to 85 degrees, lol. But if I turn it on and play games...max temps around 65.
When u turn on your monitor, you will first see a black screen with the words 9600GSO 384 OR 512MB written there, then only go to BIOS screen. If it's 512 you success. If 384 fail. If you artifact, gerenti fail, lol. |
