since ksking u say this mod can support windows XP than i will go for this card also...less than RM400 can get it with almost same performance of 8800GTS....wth....i'm loving it man happy.gif

anyway....any1 here have use that moded 9600gso (after moded is 512 mb 256-bit) to play some game to test the real power instead of testing with bench mark?
*
haha bro...ksking was the only one who manage to get this to work. Bro bryan went to sapu 6 Galaxy 9600GSO OC from lowyat and test...all kaput cannot mod (yet la)... so the success rate so far is 1OK to 6 FAIL. Not very good odds, IMO...but still a good card. Like playing lottery la, haha. If u hit, the jackpot is big.

yep...so far bryan hasn't managed to successfully flash it...perhaps someone in china will come up with a better bios and fix the problem. Or it could be that the problem is that these cards are really buggy 8800GTS being rebranded as 9600GSO with the faulty memchips disabled, and ksking was lucky enough to get one which worked. Meaning it's not a guaranteed thing. Like he says, so far the success rate is only 12.5%...not very promising. But still better than buying lok hap choi, haha

u all really dun be so highly expected
8800GTS is not god! for sure it dun have 2 times faster than neither 3870 nor 3850(1.5 oso dun hav)
therefore how will it faster a lot ler~
i just feel smoother than b4 with all effects open(last time disabled a few)
no exact fps to compare
*
haha...i know 8800GTS is not god la...but it's better than 8800GT, which is better than 3870 ma. Besides, you managed to turn on all effects AND still feel smoother, so that's a great increase if u ask me...for doing essentially nothing but twiddling with some settings.

Added on June 1, 2008, 8:23 pmwhat u guys mean by blocking the hole ah? I wanna try also. Can describe in more detail where to block? And block using wat? Cellotape?

from my limited babelfish translation, it appears that the article is saying the company is making some stunt in order to popularize the 9600GSO sales is it? That not all 9600GSO from the company is the same?

bryan, what r u gonna do wif all ur GC now?

i think it depends on luck la. Some may work some may not. Unfair to judge adliew batch all won't work, he also trying to make sales only nia.

Haha...50% success...i guess it's true that these cards are buggy 8800GTSes la...cannot run at max so they close the faulty chips and resold as GSO. BTW the GSO can be overclocked to exceed the performance of 9600GT and MATCH a stock 8800GT performance. Don't believe me? Google the PoV 9600GSO review. The Galaxy GSO comes with huge cooler and an easy voltmod, so it's conceivable to OC it even higher than the PoV, which managed 666mhz core if you hav the patience. =)

u can lock the core and shader together right? Meaning to get higher shader speed, u need to increase core speed also ma...rite?

btw, can I be ur friend? =P

Added on June 2, 2008, 11:38 ambtw what about memory speed? any relation or bearing to the other speeds? Or just increase them to max 1000mhz? I read somewhere the 0.8ns memory chips of the Galaxy OC is rated for 1000mhz speeds, maybe lucky can go above that by a few %.

so meaning the overvolt will help clock the memories above the 1000mhz that they are supposedly rated at?

Any 3DMark result on the mod version?
*
check back a few pages back, ksking posted his 3dmark as well as game results

Added on June 2, 2008, 1:42 pmlatest results from Guru3D:

9600GSO 384 overclocked: 666/1655/2000
9600GT overclocked : 750/1800/2100

The GSO loses to 9600GT by 1 to 2 FPS up to resolution of 2560x1600(!) where it loses by 5 FPS. It's not a huge difference, and shows that the GSO is really a great performer after OC due to the extra shaders (96 vs 64). The 9600GT was oc'ed higher, had more bits (256 vs 196) but only manages to pull ahead slightly in real world gaming tests. =)

I think the bullshit story has some truth in it la. Don forget ksking got his card to work. Its probably cos not all the cards can work...most probably they put in some moddable cards with the rest of the non-moddable (really buggy cut down 8800GTS cards) and let the consumer play lottery.

the problem is that flash is successful, but the card artifacts upon boot, suggesting that the card cannot use the bios or that the unlocked memchips contained errors (the reason why they are locked in the first place). The parental control u refer to is called UAC or user access control, and most users have probably turned them off already becaue it's very annoying.
