QUOTE(aurion @ Jul 29 2008, 09:39 AM) It depends also cos as far as I know, some AP sets are having European product codes and firmware. Easiest to tell if you have APAC product code is that the phone's keypad will have these chinese characters. Some won't have the chinese characters. hat's just my opinion. i hv the chinese chars..means mine apac region

That's one of the way to tell UNLESS they changet the casing another method to see if you have the European product code is to see if your camera can shut off the shutter sound.. if it can, means it's European region. APAC ones cannot disable the camera shutter sound.. by the way, does anyone know how much will the original silver housing cost?

IF the digit number Seven & Eight is 02 or 20 that mean it was assembled in the Emirates which is very Bad quality
IF the digit number Seven & Eight is 08 or 80 that means it was manufactured in Germany which is not bad
IF the digit number Seven & Eight is 01 or 10 that mean it's manufactured in Finland which is Good
IF the digit number Seven & Eight is 00 that means it was manufactured in original factory which is the best Mobile Quality ...
IF the digit number Seven & Eight is 13 that means it was assembled in Azerbaijan which is very poor quality and potentially very dangerous to your health!!! mine is 01 if according to that, mine is from Finland..Nokia HQ haha

Now this is a different version I've came across:
Use this to help you decide on a purchase! This is repost of an early member's with a few newer editions:
To find out where your nokia phone was made look at digits number 7and 8 (YY) of your IMEI.
XXXXXX/YY/ZZZZZZ/A
XXXXXX = Type Appoval Code
ZZZZZZ = serial number
A = check digit
10 = Finland 20 = Germany 30 = Korea 40 = China 50 = Brazil, USA, Finland 60 = HK, China, Mexico 70 = Finland 80 = Hungary 91 = Finland
Added on July 29, 2008, 11:30 amNot accurate

Logically speaking, I would say that All nokias come out from the same factory. it's just like cars, each model is assembled in different places. Warranty wise is just that some go to the authorised dealers and some do not. AP or Authorised Sets, still come from the same factory. That's my opinion.

The phones are all the same, it's just the warranties given that differentiate them. I personally think it's just a way for 'those people' to make us cough up more penny than we should.
