Bondi?

Aside from that, I have no idea. I’m not a big fan of Sydney and NSW. You might want to check if there’s any special event going around Sydney/Canberra which might be worth a visit. Like a big event, not a small-ish.

I always recommend Mardi Gras in Sydney for those who can make it, March every year.

Anzac day may be great for Canberra although waking up at 4-5am in April is beyond horrible. Which is why I didn’t manage to do it. Too much effort for one-morning action.

You may want to flip through other’s suggestion in the Sydney thread. Which you should have posted there in the first place. tongue.gif

Hi everyone, I will be visiting Sydney for 3d2n from Melbourne before flying back to Malaysia in November.
I've roughly listen down the places that are noteworthy of visiting, so my question here is that can anyone recommend me any place that is a must-visit and I have left it out? Can't travel far as I don't have much time there though.

[Sydney]
Sydney Living Museums
ANZ Stadium
Museum of Contemporary Art Australia
Sydney Town Hall

(Optional)
Sydney Opera House Tour

There is a combo package that combines 5 places under one general ticket for 63AUD and I am planning to get that combo. Included places are Wild Life Sydney, Sydney Aquarium, Sydney Tower Eye, Manly Sea Life Sanctuary and Madame Tussaud's. This combo is very worthy to take as I checked only for Madame Tussaud's the admission ticket is already 40AUD.

Also, I've done some searching online and these are the three hotels that came under my shortlist and they are quite average priced at less than 150AUD per night.

http://ibishotel.ibis.com/gb/hotel-6412-ib...arf/index.shtml

http://www.sydneylodges.com/lodges/the-bayswater-sydney/

http://www.sydneylodges.com/lodges/macleay-lodge/

Can anyone also recommend me some decently priced hostels/hotels with private bathroom ranges around 100-150AUD?

Thanks in advance! rclxms.gif

You can check out Sydney Harbours, The Rocks YHA. I have stayed there once and the reason for staying there is the location (it’s not the central area), which is a direct view of opera house and bridge. You should be able to get twin/double room with bathroom at a decent price. i hope you aren't travelling alone. the pp price is reasonable given the condition of the hostel. It’s almost as good as any hotels in Malaysia.

If you prefer other Sydney YHA, I think it’s worth a try. Central and Railway should be great. haven't been to these 2 personally but it's YHA, gotta be clean and nice. Great location.

Cool, then the rocks yha fits the great view criteria, it's not shabby hostel. As good as 2-3 star hotels and uses key card. Haha.

I've got nothing much to add on to your itinerary. Myself been there less than handful of times. Main priority is bridge and opera house, day AND night view. Walk around darling harbour.

Bondi beach, google and see if you want to go. I find it very normal beach but very famous. But not too far away from the beach.

Blue mountain overrated. Dont waste the money and time. Which you have very little of anyway.

Sydney fish market for cheaper seafood... Dont know how cheap is cheap. Australia stuff nvr that cheap to begin with.

Also personal recommendation, haigh's chocolate. Available in sydney and melbourne. They dont export. Good chocolate.

I didnt go to museum and stuff like those. So, cant help much.

Saw the Sydney YHA on their official website and read a couple of reviews on tripadvisor, everything looks interesting. I guess I will choose to stay there when I visit Sydney. Thanks a lot!

Haigh's chocolate. Shall keep that in mind, great choice for souvenirs as well I guess? biggrin.gif

Yup, great souvenir choice, aside from the typical kangaroo and koala stuff. Transporting such delicate items is a problem though. biggrin.gif i'm not sure how they stand vs european chocolates but still very special.

Usually what I do is use a pin to poke a small hole in the packaging so that air is able to go out due to the pressurised cabin. It works for potato chips too

I would suggest to rent a car from Day 2. You can save more if the wedding not falling in the middle of your trip. maybe rent from Day 2 to Day 6. Look for those coupon like rent 3 days free another day or something like that. Usually available from many companies like thrifty, etc

rule of thumb for student here for how cheap the ticket is. If more than aud500 consider it expensive.less than aud500 consider it cheap.its for return trip btw

I seen as low as RM1,300 for MAS return when I wanted to travel in August. I usually pay about RM800 (return) for airasia
