4WD on Rush/Terios/Nautica is an AWD system, 4WD on double cabs (and Ford Everest) are only partial 4x4. Fortuner, Hilux Surf, and the Landcruisers are the ones truly capable of Full-time 4x4 in all terrain

unless the gov change the tax system.... nautica should cost at around 90k and above... about 30 to 35k of the price goes straight into gov. coffers...

25% off... japan made car... x115% excise, import and sales tax... maybe a few k off from my calculations...under declared?

wahh saw the ad today in the newspaper and short write up of the car in the Star business section... RM 89k on the road... like we all discussed.. too pricey for a p2... and they have always been saying that they make affordable cars for the rakyat

The didn't make. They just import and rebadge. Better go for Rush.

Perodua targets to sell 2,400 new SUVs this year

KUALA LUMPUR: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) targets to sell about 2,400 units of its completely built-up sport-utility vehicle (SUV), the Nautica, this year.

Chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin said the Malaysian SUV market was relatively “small but stable,” with sales of about 3,000 units monthly.

“Our target is to sell 100 to 200 units per month. This translates to a market share of approximately 5%,” he said at the launch of the Nautica yesterday.

The name “Nautica” was derived for the word “nautical”, related to sailing or yachting and suited the concept of the compact SUV, he said.

Perodua managing director Datuk Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar said the SUV was imported from Japan and he expected it to capture a niche market outside Perodua's mainstream domain.

He said the Nautica was an alternative for drivers mulling to progress from conventional sedans and hatchbacks to a different body type, such as a compact 4WD.

“We expect people who buy this vehicle to have another two more in the garage, a sedan or a compact,” he said, adding the compact SUV would attract a new customer profile.

The Nautica would increase the company's model line-up, said Hafiz, who expected the introduction of its first 1.5-litre model to raise the company's image a notch or two.

The Nautica comes in two colours, grey and black, and sells for RM89,900, on the road.

Perodua sold 162,000 cars last year, with the Myvi and Viva the best two selling models in Malaysia.

“The bigger challenge facing Perodua is not whether we remain number one but to maximise customer satisfaction in view of higher oil prices and market liberalisation.

“With the increase in oil prices, the market would be driven by smaller compact cars as people opt for cheaper cost-effective cars,” he said.

maybe they confidence because of good selling of myvi

but myvi has no similar car (i mean 100% similar like this 1), with her.
that's why so many people bought it..
now this car is totally same with Toyota Rush...
don't know how they manage to grab the market.
in Taiwan/Japan, this type of car only cost 50k+, so actually 30k+ is for gov.

That's the price u have to pay of malaysian car, made in japan.
If made in malaysia, i'm very sure around 60k+ only.

I don't know why they want to compete straight on with Rush. At slightly cheaper only

This is not even an SUV, more like a Kembara replacement. At such a high price? Ppl would rather buy a Triton/Hilux/Ranger/D-Max ler...much bigger and more powerful. Now with the green diesel engine, road tax is also affordable.

Perodua should just stick to Myvis and Vivas. Heck, even returning the Kelisa to production should bring more profit.

i smell a failure in this... perhaps Perodua just got overconfident with all their little cars selling so well.
