guys,i got something to ask about ram DDr2 vs overclock..
let say im using value ram 667mhz.
basically, during OC, we need to make sure that the ram speed will not go higher than 667mhz, since we are OC-ing processor, not ram, no?
so.....there is no need for extra voltage at ram right? since the ram clock speed is not higher than its original value..

U would want to lower the RAM speed since you dont want it to bottleneck the proc. Basically if you plan to see how far your proc can go, for 667 you just lower it to 400, the speed will be slightly higher from 667 after you oc to 3.0ghz.

You wont need to increase the vdimm for it not passing 667 figure. But certain value ram I know, even doing 700 mhz it needed to increase the vdimm if not the system cant boot at all, even some passing slightly above 667 would need to increase the vdimm. Your question was abit confusing since u were asking "since we are OC-ing processor, not ram, no?" Increasing the speed of proc will increase the speed of ram as well. Its just the matter of what divider we are using. This post has been edited by mizivincible: May 5 2008, 01:16 AM

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ May 4 2008, 10:57 PM) gotta agree w/ u bro, Asus makes better boards for Intel. usually ram clock higher in intel platform bro (from my experience), d mem controller (chipset) has higher latency iirc... QUOTE(sempronic @ May 4 2008, 11:22 PM) nahhh...for me AMD have good mem controller....coz now im running with my intel rig as wanna see how can it perform...proc easy to OC....but the RAM not as good as AMD... Ram can be oc higher in Intel platform. QUOTE(AMDAthlon @ May 4 2008, 11:35 PM) Becos the Intel Memory is not integrated together with the processor but Intel uses their "Chipset" as the memory controller,While AMD Memory Controller is already integrated on the proc itself. But if AMD is better, why our proc(AMD) cant get Sub 20 Secs(Super PI 1M)?Is it causes by the CACHE? Architecture is the main reason. -pWs-

On-die mem controller is only on amd..intel use chipset..so the proc architecture wont be so messed up, as the mem controller is outside of the die.. this may be the reason why intel can put lots of cache and have better architecture..
@najmods..wif that budget of yours, maybe ull consider to save a bit and get a better cooler such as tuniq or xigmatek? if cant, go wif cm 212..its better than AC64 IMHO...correct me if im wrong..

Yeap thats correct.Deneb has 128Bit memory controller..= = =X128?/128Bit?
So guys regarding on ram thinggy,If i OC my Proc to 340HTT so my ram will become 340Mhz,it will go higher than 667/333.So how do i make it to boot?Must increase vDimm?

Depends on your ram too. Err, this one is based on 1:1 ke ? And I dont think 680mhz will need you to increase the vdimm. Even last time when using my value ram at 700mhz I didnt increase the vdimm but that depends on your hardwares too.
