Sorry, could not stay for long, I had to pick up the cage and leave yesterday to avoid the jam. I noticed bonai with glider without bonding pouch, ya? That's real cool to get it bonded so closely.

I had thought that you missed my post but am glad that you replied to it. Thank you very much. I am also glad to hear that the other joey is more responsive to humans now, not so crabby.

Anyway, a small question about slurp. If in the morning, we feed them ONLY gliderslurp, one teaspoon each, can or not? I mean, I dont know the minimal amount to give. Should we have a selection like slurp + fruits or just slurp is enough? What if one joey eat all and the other is left hungry? Do they know how to ration it among themselves?

Please leave them in their cages for a day or two before starting to play with them.

Yes, please leave her alone for a while. Bringing her around is like the first-hand feel of kidnaping.

Anyway, I think I will compile a list of FAQs for Sugar Gliders as soon as I have time this weekend. All about boiled chicken, protein, farting, etc. It is quite mafan as KP said and I know I might be asking some questions myself that might return some firing so I think FAQs is best to solve everyone's problem.

Ok, today, while I am setting up my glider cage in preparation for the joeys tomorrow, I find it quite challenging to put the tunnel, hammock and sleeping pouch nicely.

Anyone want to share with me how you arrange your settings?

Oh, I really need to have a close look on how we should tie the wodent wheel. I cannot hentam saje, CFP. I want an optimal arrangement so it's not so cramped up.

Wondering if the cage need stairs... I will have to actually see them living in it to know things better. Experience = best teacher!

I need to see how it's setup. The cage comes with 3 platforms and 3 stairs. I dont know how many I should use. I ended up putting 2 platforms and a stair. One platform on the upper right, another on the lower left and the stairs connect lower left to ground of the cage. The food bowls are slightly above the lower left. Not sure if the food bowls should be kept on the platform so they dont fall while they're eating.

Hammock can hang at the top area. Pouch at the side but how do you get the tunnel in the middle? This I need to see and thanks for the idea with the wheel. I will tie it upside down as well if it's less noisy. I will use cable-tie to hold it together.

Natural ropes from hardware store, soak in mild soapy water and sun in for 1 whole day... What's the reason with the soapy water?

Hihi, thanks a lot for everything you've taught me. Unexpectedly, the little one nibble quite a bit when we reach home. I tried to feed her apple in small bits and she will nibble my finger before taking the apple. So, I start to use only one finger and balance the apple piece to her. The small one sit in the bowl and feast away! Nibble pointing / middle finger ok... if it's last finger or back of the neck... die man.

I read somewhere, I am not suppose to pull away when she nibble. I've only manage to stand still twice, other times reflex pulls me away. The bigger one sit in the wheel and always wait for me to feed.

Hahaha... sorry sorry but that look pretty optimal to me. Anyway, my tunnel is under the platform piece like Hun had put it. The sleeping pouch is just by the side. The wodent wheel on upper left and the hammock at the top. A row of bowl and water left of the door.

For me, when I brought home my joeys today. They pooped in the bonding pouch. So I had to take them out and clean them. They are escape artist so I just grab them with the piece of wet baby wipes and simply wipe them and put them in the cage to rest for the day. Will only go look / see at night later.

Oh, the other girl was you, eh? Sorry, I never met you before and no introduction so I wasnt sure if you're a member of LYP. Thank you but babyface joey is super nibbler. Kena attack a few times already.

Now one concern I have... do they know how to use the water bottle? I'm not so sure if they do...?

Added on May 23, 2008, 6:49 pmYup, I am very happy to bring them home. Will decide a name for them tonight. The bigger one is so friendly but she's crabby. No worries about crabby sounds, I actually like it the kekokekokekokeko sound... But the nibble part by the smaller one is quite painful.

By the way, I think I understand why you guys told me to get one joey first and then later another but then, because I goes to work everyday and quite often nobody at home, a pair is better suited for my scenario. I think now they ganged up against me. Earlier when I placed them in the cage, they went separate ways, now they both snuggle in the wheel. Strange they dont seem to step into the tunnel, hammock or sleeping pouch.

We will be deciding the names tonight.

I got it today only. Guai? My gliders are biting my fingers off!! Hahahaha... My sister wanted to take out one earlier. I warned her they bite / nibble. She thought how bad can it be, right? Once the tangan masuk, kena nibble one time, scared liao.

Then, we look for some gloves at home and pick them up with it. Of course, they put up a fierce fight but nothing like a plain ol' glove. Nibble all she wants!! But it's bad that she's struggling and all, so we put them back down.

They are not sleeping in the wodent wheel. Sleep together cause scared kena glider-nap. Earlier, the smaller one was busy eating. The big one was hiding in the wheel. Now, both in the wheel.

I didnt feed them much, only apples cut into small pieces like the size of your pinky-finger nail. I left a few extra pieces in the bowl. There's water and I will give them slurp and a bit of mango before I go to bed tonight. Tomorrow only I will feed them properly.

OK, we have decided on their names.
1. The elder foxy lady will be named Luna!
2. The younger babyface will be name Moka!

Tomorrow, I am going to feed them GliderSlurp in the morning with some honey which I have stock up at home. Bought from Cameron some time back. Then... At night, I will give them pear and mangoes. Keep glider, I sendiri also get to eat more fruits. Nice!

Wow, bank staff can take very low interest loans wan worrr... Nice! My gf also bank staff last time at Standard Chartered Mortgage Loan dept but quit already because she had to work on weekends. Doesnt matter what employee la, janji we enjoy the job.

I got two females because male musk and I believe harder to handle. They are now sleeping in the wodent wheel. I thought this hour, they should be active. Maybe too tired / stress from the journey and from being passed on to new owner. They sleep like kayu like that and after hearing so many stories of how fragile they are, I'm worried they may die over stress. So I will go blow wind in the wheel, and they crab - so I know they're alive.

Casper is the name of my Westie. Good choice! Luna didnt really eat just now but Moka had quite a bit liao. Now, I'm worried about Luna not having enough food.

Omg! Another Luna... At the same time, there's one other Westie name Casper, one glider also name Casper and my colleague's Schnauzzer ALSO Casper. Looks like I have a common taste with many others.

But we memang like Luna since last time when we got Moonie. Should have name her Luna instead because her name Moonie is derived from Mooncake Festival Day which is also her birthday.

I'm only going to give them err... next week onwards I think. Not sure yet wor.

Added on May 24, 2008, 12:23 amDo you guys put tissues in the sleeping pouch? I am worried they might dirty it, therefore, I put 4 pieces of tissue paper in it. I think I will change everyday or something.

I had to hand-chase them earlier to grab them from the wodent wheel and put them into the sleeping pouch. They still crab a lot and still nib, so I use kitchen glove to catch them. Nib no feel. Had to catch them and put them in the sleeping pouch so they wont feel cold later at night.

I am not sure if this whole glove thing was discussed but as long as I'm not holding them too tightly, I dont think I can hurt them, right? Any concerns about using a glove to handle them when they nib?

Today, I woke up at 7. The fruits I placed in their bowl is finished. So, in the morning, I place a little bit more fruits and some glider slurp. I played with them 2 and half hours.

I start off with bribing them with teaspoon. Luna will grab the spoon and lick non stop. Moka will crab at the spoon. Sometimes, they run back into the sleeping pouch. In order to get them out, I terbalikkan the sleeping pouch and lure them with a spoon. Works on one and fail on the other.

I have managed to gain more trust with Luna, the foxy lady. I hand feed her slurp and if there's food on my hand, she will come. One hand let her lick and nibble a bit, another hand can sayang her. She is OK with me now but still dont trust me enough to let me catch her.

I have no improvements with Moka, the babyface yet. Last night, lure her with apple bits, OK. Today lure her with mango and apple bits, NOT OK. Even if I bribe her with slurp, it didnt work. The only thing I can do then is to wear a glove, catch her and then she bites all she want. When she calm down, I will offer her my other finger with slurp and let her lick. She will only lick a bit and then stop. So I let her off.

Wow, this is amazingly challenging. I need a more expensive bribe. Later I will try with papaya.


Because Pennywise said so. It's more like I dont feel like it yet. I want to get through these initial days without having to handle joeys and worms at the same time. So, that has to wait.

No la, I just use the glove when I go near them because once I catch them, they will attack like mad. Then I will quickly place them on another hand with palm facing down... Let them climb to my shoulder and stay there for 1 minute before they wander off. Glove is use to catch them only. Slowly, I will remove the glove.

Crabbing is a sound I enjoy hearing. It's a nice sound. Nibbing at the finger hurts a bit, like needle prick. I didnt expect so pain lor.

Anyway, I handle them differently. The big foxy girl, Luna is easier to handle / bribe. Just dip my hand into the slurp and let her lick lick. Then I can touch her already. Grab her, harder a bit since it's only 1 day now.

The other babyface, Moka is more difficult. Tried to lure her with slurp, tak jadi. So, have to catch her with glove as she bite a whole lot more. I let her bite all she want on the glove. When she calm down, I let her run on my other hand and gently place her back into the cage as a sign of trust.

Honey not so good if given too much eh? OK. My honey bought from Cameron wan, dunno can or not. But I will feed minimal amount per week or something. Thanks for your advise.



Yes, it works for Luna but not for Moka. She is more timid and if nearer, more aggressive. Luna can touch already... give her finger also she wont nibble much. Moka is nibbling-machine! but once she calm down, put on another hand seems OK.

Yea, I did put 4 pieces of tissue inside the sleeping pouch to prevent them from dirtying the pouch when they poop. But it's hard to get them out since one of their four hands will be grabbing onto the pouch itself. Until tissue tear also wont come out, so terbalikkan the thing and shake them out slowly lor. Now feed and played with them already, let them rest.

I tried cutting mango and apples the size of 1cm x 1cm (bigger than sliced red chili) but it seems too big for them. They cannot hold properly, so I cut smaller like 5mm x 5mm (like sliced chili padi), they can hold it more properly.

I feed them half a metal bowl of fruits and 2 tea spoon of slurp. I am worried they are not having enough. Should I go handfeed them some more?

OK, I just got back at midnight. I saw both, Moka and Luna is out playing but not eating their fruits yet. So, I throw away the fruits and cut 1/4 of apples and bit of mango. I opened the Heinz Apple + Mango baby food.

I manage to feed Luna a lot, I get to touch her and she didnt run away. I can lure her and she trust me more. As for Moka, the miss babyface, it's much harder. She keep hiding in the wodent wheel and dont want to come out. I offered her mango and she took 2 pieces, apple 1 piece.

Then, I tried to get her out of the wheel but it was difficult. Everytime I put my hand in, she nip / nibble (what's the difference) and I got huge hands so it's difficult to squeeze through except for my fingers which happens to be the most painful part. So, I had to kacau her out of the wheel, with glove again. When she came out, I hand-chased her and catch her. She didnt want to let go off her grab. When I wanted to give up, she turned around and bite / nip / nibble me. Oh, draw blood... puncture 3 holes. One on the knuckle of my middle finger, one on the forth finger (wear you wear ring), another one at the bend of the thumb.

I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG! I put her on the other hand and she started climbing to my shoulder and to my back. Then she jumped off onto one of the opened cupboard where we keep our plastic bag, detergent, brush and stuff. I had to quickly grab her before she disappear to the back and got more attacks.

I give up, so I quickly put her back into the cage. I think I will bring them out in the pouch tomorrow.
