Aifontriji price is no longer dictated by Apple, the USD199 price is the result of carrier subsidization. As long as this business model continues, the pricing scale will stick as well.

For prepaid/buy outright models, again, these are only sold in most cases at the carrier store, or at the behest of the carrier's agreed price. Looking at the history of carrier pricing and their tendencies, dropping prices is almost unheard of.

Price drops are only applicable to Apple's own products, NOT carrier-tied item like the Aifontriji. Things may change once the current subscription business model hits saturation point, but until then, it is unlikely to change.

iPhone = Phone + iPod Touch
iPod Touch = iPod + Touch Screen + WiFi + many more...

ya i understand both. no worries for that.

reason im asking is that itouch is easily available in malaysia thru authorised dealer.

but iphone is not available as yet, most are sets from singapore or other countries which they unlock the sim.

im just thinking wat is the price difference between the two, if difference not much then might as well i go for iphone. if the difference is significant, i can use back my N95 and get an itouch.

get wat i meant? im not as gadget dummy as some said above. but i appreciate those who are willing to explain to me.

cheers!

IMHO, would recommend you to purchase a 3G iPhone instead of iPod Touch even tho the price may vary pretty much.

Machines Center
Current price of an iPod Touch is

8GB RM 1339
16BG RM 1739
32GB RM 1999

3G iPhone (S'pore)
8GB 3G iPhone RM 2800++
16GB 3g IPhone RM 3300++

Your choice mate.

There's a saying:-

"Dont bite the hand that feeds you"

Your queries are subjective at best. How much is significant to you? We dont know, we are not mind readers. As for the price between the two, a search here or through Google reveals all. Hell, even a short trip down to Garage Sales section here will tell you the full story. Or visiting my own " My Journey for iPhone 3G". I'm not expecting people to stay up to date with the current affairs in here, just have the initiative to stay on top of things by one's own effort, using the search feature here.

Secondly, insinuating that someone is taking you for a gadget dummy, is at best, poor conduct here. Here you are, asking for people's opinion, help and advice, and then blasting them back for your assumption that they are taking you for a gadget-dummy? "Dont bite the hands that feed you" comes very very relevant in this case.

I would totally understand where you coming from if you say that you are not technology-inclined or not up to date with the current happenings in Apple stuff, but even as you throw that "insinuation" that you think people are calling you a gadget-dummy, we can also call you back "ungrateful person" for barking at us back. See, it is a two-way street.

I can tell you straight here that the person you have just barked of, friends is more than reliable when it comes to queries on Apple. He made the FAQ you see up here pinned, and more than able to answer your queries if you dont go off being miffed at him. I mean, look at your previous post:-

That bolded question in that quote is the reason why Friends answered you that way. He is trying to explain it in the simplest term possible, because of your own lack of definition in your question. Hell, I'd answer your query that way too if I dont know ny better. And then you get off being pissed off for people thinking that you're a gadget-dummy? Try explaining your queries better, rather than barking off like this.

Even so, between the time of your first and second post, if you would have used the Search feature in this forum, and Google as well, you'd already get your answer already. I mean, you know how to blog, would it be too much to assume that you also know how to Search in this forum or in Google? rolleyes.gif

And oh.....Cheers!

Just call me David. Am not use to named Gary.

Just a suggestion, why not buy a 8GB iPhone? nokia2003 is selling his. It would be wiser to get an iPhone than a iPod Touch.

Like you said, the iPhone has the ability of a phone which is a plus point and buying an iPod Touch only allow you to play mp3 and videos etc, no calls.

Just got a white iPhone 3g last week..managed to get this baby for AUD$892 unlocked,
a decent price if compared to the unlocked versions selling
in Lyn forum or in Singapore/Malaysia I might say, but still a lil' bit expensive to fit my bill
but I decided to go for it anyway smile.gif

Another reason why I think it was expensive because
I managed to obtain a really good condition (like new),
4 months old iPhone Edge 8gb two months ago for only
AUD$410 which was less than HALF of the price of the new one.

And yet again I must repeat this again even though it has been repeated again and again..
the white iPhone is really SLEEK and handsome, I've played around with the black iPhone 3g
for quite a number of times and it gets soiled with thumb prints a lot..the white coloured one,
however, remain pristine because the thumb prints do not stand out as obvious as in the black coloured model.
Nice.
