Step aside Malaysia political scene, actually those large countries normally will have subsidies on non-profitable domestic routes? No? It's parts of Public utilities.1) With OIL MONEY running out, how long can ANY GLC last?? How long can ANY subsidies last??

Air transport is definitely faster, no doubts about that. However, if you take a look at US, ground transportation is an important artery of the U.S economy. (even though New York and S.F is 6 hours by flight, and almost 7 days by driving)
The reason why railroad is unpopular is because the government subsidizes petrol. IF we use the subsidies for petrol to improve our public transportation system like singapore, i don't see why we can't eliminate waste and be less dependent on oil.
IT's a pity, we have more land than singapore but singapore's public transportation system is one of the best in the world. (alongside tokyo, hkg.)
Perhaps because they're small, thus easier to manage. Demand vs supply. The reason why railroad is unpopular is because the government subsidizes petrol. I do agree that Malaysia public transport sux. The ministry of transport is just too short-sighted when they do planning.
Our public transport either rail road, buses, taxis unpopular is because they always late, out of schedule, pack, sub-standard driver, and list goes on!
