First, I wanna congrats for the V7
Second, bad news for me as I lost 2 hamsters within 3 days My AshAsh the solid sable missing on 17 April when I'm out of the house. It's my mistake that didn't close the middle lid cos I thought wanna give him better ventilation as the day is quite hot. ![]() Thrid, very heart broken news for my Black Banded Fumoffu yesterday 19 April. Found his left eye is very swollen the night before, brought him to the vet yesterday. Vet examine him under short anesthesia. Vet told me that's due to the inner eye and nerve root infection and it pushes the eye ball to come out and the soft tissues and eye lid surrounding the eye also very bad swelling. He was curled up and sleep with the infected eye open and the other eye closed. He only able to sleep for awhile and then move again. ![]() Only few choices for us: 1) leave him as it is and try antibiotic. But he will suffer during the trial period, he might not get thru as he will be very stress and painful. The antibiotic is not guaranteed in curing the infection, if it doesn't, then it may be too late for surgery. 2) go for surgery to remove the infected eye. Complications are so many which included he might not get thru the surgery as he is already half of his life span and there's greater risk for the anesthesia, his lungs are not clear as it'll added the risk for the surgery. If he manage to get thru the surgery, he also will be very stressful and suffer throughout the 2 weeks recovery process. Suture break down, infection of the wound, relapse of the infection to the inner ear and lungs, ...etc. 3) leave him without treatment and let him go when his time come. But he will continue to suffer as the infection will be worse after that. 4) put him to sleep without having pain and suffer. We really dunno what to do when we look at him suffering and yet we can't do anything for him At last, decided to have choice 4 as this is the way he no need to suffer anymore. Hope he can RIP as he was buried beside DigDig(solid umbrous). He was sleeping so peacefully when we bury him. At last, no more suffering for him. Always miss you, Fumoffu. ![]() |

You should read the first page for the bedding. Pine is NOT GOOD!!!! Do the right thing, not do what pet shops are doing. The bar cage is also bad for hamster as they'll bite and stuck their nose in between the gap and get injured. Read up the first page for more knowledge and get your question cleared. Is time to chnge othr beddng i guess |

QUOTE(anderyna @ Apr 20 2008, 02:14 PM) You shouldn't have handle her as she is still new and not adapted herself yet. Imagine you are new to a house with stranger, then some other guy come near you, what will you react? Same thing la, you'll be defensive also what. Leave her there for about 2 days without tuoching or kacau her. Then slowly put your hands into the cage and let her smell, then she will know you are not harmful or threatening. Slowly you try to pad her and if she is ok with that, then only you try to pick her up. Sometime we deserve the bitting cos we scared them and make them stress. |
