GENERAL CONCEPT

1. The Matriculation Programme of The Ministry of Education is a preparatory programme intended for Bumiputera students in order for them to qualify for degree courses in science, technology and accounting at Higher Education Institutions, local and overseas. Therefore, course arrangement for the Matriculation Programme has taken into consideration the prior knowledge of the students who are accepted into the programme. The structured course content has to fulfil the specific need of the faculty besides giving more preparation time in general.

2. The curriculum for this programme emphasises both academic and non-academic aspects to provide knowledgeable and high social skills students as well as having admirable characteristics and leadership skills.

3. The educational structure uses semester system in accordance with the method that is used during the high education institution stage. The minimum period to qualify into faculty is one year (two semesters)

IMPLEMENTATION OF MATRICULATION PROGRAMME SEMESTER SYSTEM

The Matriculation Programme of The Ministry of Education utilises semester system. In each semester, there are 20 academic weeks (refer Academic Calendar). Students have to register for all subjects taken in each semester. The subject packages that have to be taken to complete the programme are categorised into specialisation subjects, compulsory subjects and co-curriculum subjects.

no lah....i'm from matric kedah at changlun,a pekan cowboy...huhu....batch 04/05...now final year olredi at my college, see under my avatar.....i mean the matriculation under the ministry...not the asasi UM...or matric UIA...... asasi UM is much easier...they system is a bit different but it doesnt confirm that u will futher ur studies at UM....while matric UIA is the easiest...since u can confirm your place at UIA, so u only need to past, and doesnt have to compete with other 25k matric student not to include stpm student to grab place at ipta but for some cases, for example if for a high demand course like medic, etc, u need to got a good result ~ but still education in matriculation is a bit fast smile.gif

other then matric UIA...u have to compete for places at ipta...if not mistaken, 25k student from matric and 100k from stpm...if not mistaken....

better to go for longer and safer route. moreover i'll be learning what i want earlier with more basic skills when continue my degree compared to straight into degree from matriculation.

this is architecture route

matric 1 year + degree 5 year = 6year.

diploma 3 years + 1 year job experience + 4 year degree = 8 years.

matric route = time wise
diploma route = knowledge wise, matured thinking, higher skills.

mine is so short compared to yours shocking.gif

diploma 2 1/2 years + 2 years degree = 4 1/2 years

that's why. i hope when i don't accept matric, someone worth it will replace my place. haha. me actually don't have any interest to go into matric. but if have no choice then i've to go.

one more thing, if we received offer from matriculation(but we doesn't enter matric yet), can we still get UPU offer? when will UPU result announce?

the thing about matriks is tht 1000++ people regularly get cgpa 4.0, so even if u score 4.0, it doesnt mean ure assured of a place in ipta. moreover, matriks is onli for local iptas. let say u wanna further ur studies to singapore, u need stpm.

and anyway, ain't it better to go and study at singapore in any case? i mean, NUS is among the top 40 uni in the world and NTU is among the top 80 in the world. UM is in the top 300 whereas USM and UKM ranked lower than that. see the diff??

plus, singaporean unis provide scholarships but u wud be bonded to them for 3 years and stuff. well thts wat they said at the education fair anyway.

nope...not necessarily...its depends on your degree course u take...sometime u didnt use want u learn in matric smile.gif trust me...if u r like, into the construction industry (i'm a building survey)..u didnt need much of what u learn in matric...the good results is merely to compete for places in ipta smile.gif

my opinion is simple.......

they should scrap it, and go back to a single pathway into uni......that is well tested, internationally recognised, and opens opportunities into most countries........ie stpm.......

note that matrik is NOT recognised by almost all foreign universities, as it is never benchmarked, never validated (internal marking), and quality is suspect........and like the intro said......it is considered by most people as an easy pathway for malays to get into ipta.......a typical product of msia's social engineering efforts......more form over substance.....

I think its compulsory. Can't really remember. I entered in 2004 for less than a month. But i think its compulsory.. Honestly I dont see any good in having a specific dress code. We should be able to wear what we like but must be decent of course.

I don't think non-muslim need to wear tudung. because back in my day in SBP, non-muslim just need to wear baju kurung and no tudung. but just bring one for preparation.

i think wajib. because they said that matric is almost the same as boarding school. but only when going for classes. because i once went to matric tangkak and saw some girls playing around and playing sport without wearing tudung.

mybe wajib when going for classes only.

it's normal nowadays... no need to make fuss about it. hope they'll realise it sooner or later.

but my advise is. if you're a Muslim, involve urself into religious activities like tazkirah, ceramah. that is one thing i really appreciate back in my SBP days.

did you not read the long intro on the 1st page? matrik is only for malays lah....so what you upset about about?

only about 6 years ago, did they decide to open up to 10% of matrik to non malays, supposedly to spur competition as the all malay environment was producing poor results......

observations of those non malays chosen suggest 2nd tier students were selected on a rather random fashion.....few high scorers were chosen......

so non malays chosen are there on sufferance, as pacer horses, if you know what I mean, and you should be thankful they at least allow 10% of places to 'others'....

as for fairness, since when has policies based of the nep been fair?.......this is the real world called msia........

the moe, and ministers involved, as well as some matrik students would like you to believe that the matrik and stpm are of the same difficulty and standards, you don't believe meh?
*
haha i certainly dont believe.. personal friend's experience, top guy in class, went for STPM still couldnt score 4A.

however, one of the slackers in class, went for matrics and got 4.00 CGPA thumbup.gif

come la.. at least got some kaki in negeri sembilan.. i oso got negeri sembilan even tho i listed those near perak as first choice..

vtw the FAQ jerry posted is not entirely true.

especially the part bout meritocracy  shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif
*
if you read that in conjunction with the first part, it is not wrong.......in the earlier days, matrik is purely for malays only, and i supposed they do select from amongst the malays based on merit....after jpa and mara had their pick of the best for overseas scholarships.......

however, when you add in non malays into the mixture, of course it is NOT meritocracy, no matter how much they try to say it is.........

ya.. its totally a different league altogether.

that's why people tend to avoid STPM.

if not , you wouldnt see colleges thriving.

even STPM vs A levels, STPM is much deeper.

you lost me.........that's the reasons the moe makes the stpm a hell exam?......so that people with no choice can go there to work hard, and cry when their results are recognised by other countries but since they have nowhere to go (which basically means no money), they cannot go to these other countries, and cannot get into ipta because the places are filled by matrik students?....... rclxub.gif

yeah. matric have a lot of competition to enter medic in ipta.

many people get 4.00.

better if you want to pursue dentistry or medic, pulun abes2. dptkan 4.00. utm engineering also have high requirement.

at least 3.50 matric pointer.

we dun apply for fun. we apply for backup.
it is the same concept if you apply for BNM, Khazanah, JPA, Mara, etc.
apply many, later choose 1.
even you get all the scholarship, you can only choose 1.

yeah. matric is very2 fast pace learning. so that's why many people dun want to take the risk.

you score then it's good. you fail and just waste of time.

My sis got 10A1 and she couldn't get into this programme, already pass this link to her to ask her to appeal....yes, we are chinese..
*
admission of non malays into matrik is not based on merit, but a rather random selection from the 2nd liners.....to add some competition to the malays.....so appealing based on good results is not going to work.....

okay, i take it that it is everyone for themselves, and nobody cares about the injustice of the whole system......says a lot about the younger generation......no wonder a survey on students recently that asked if the opportunity for corruption exist, would they take the money.........70% said yes....... shocking.gif

the injustice is not for students to right.

it's in the voters hands.

so it's the older generation's fault. not ours sweat.gif sweat.gif

did you not read the long intro on the 1st page? matrik is only for malays lah....so what you upset about about?

only about 6 years ago, did they decide to open up to 10% of matrik to non malays, supposedly to spur competition as the all malay environment was producing poor results......

observations of those non malays chosen suggest 2nd tier students were selected on a rather random fashion.....few high scorers were chosen......

so non malays chosen are there on sufferance, as pacer horses, if you know what I mean, and you should be thankful they at least allow 10% of places to 'others'....

as for fairness, since when has policies based of the nep been fair?.......this is the real world called msia........

Excuse me sir(or mdm or miss), when the school help us to apply last year, that rule is CANCEL.

If you guys wants to talks about sensitive issues, there's a thread in RWI for you guys to blast the education system. There's no need to create "havoc" by using race A,B or etc.

with all due respect, what is so sensitive about these issues?......they are FACTS in the real world.....people like geoffrey are not interested in rwi forums, ventilating to the converted, he has been smacked in the face by certain official policies, and i can understand his angst, while the happy lot here who got places continues to gloat......he has obviously not been realistically explained to about matrik, and hence haboured unrealistic expectations.......only when he is rejected did he realised the truth........that's what happens when we bury our heads in the sand and try not to create 'havoc'......we are deluding ourselves that all is honky dory.....

yes, as answered above, they don't care about the unfairness of the system........it's NOT their problem, they didn't create it........likewise, we did NOT create the problem either, we are merely commenting on it.......so how can it be sensitive by just commenting on a defacto situation?

as much as my intentions here is to clearly state the FACTS as it stands to those unfortunate ones who got the short end of the stick, it is also to make those who benefits from the policy realise there is a problem....but it appears they don't care, as long as they are not negatively affected....which is telling on the caliber and principles of the youths today......youths are always the most idealistic of people, before the hard knocks of real life blunt the idealism......but it appears the tidak apa attitude permeates down all levels........

im new here & i hope anyone who read this can give me some advise..

i did applied for matriculation but didn't got the offer for the program satu tahun since i got a D7 in add maths. so, im hoping that i can go to the program dua tahun (PDT). my questions are, am i hoping too much? should i stop hoping since im a non-bumiputera student? can a non-bumiputera go to the program dua tahun (PDT) or is it just reserved for the bumiputera students? is there a meritocracy system behind the selection of program tahun kedua students?

im have good results in the other subjects but the add maths was really a set back for me. i really wanna go for matriculation & i hope who reply this can shed some light in my current dilemma.

want to tell you somthing.

me get 5c for add math during spm.
and right now i'm considering to go or not to go into matric.

why?

because math in matrics is about 2 times harder than spm add math and 2 times faster sillabus.

I've malay firends that got 5 A1 who came from sbp and yet dun get matric.

you can just appeal. but the chances might be quite low. because we even have 12 As student appeal, not to mention other student with 8As and 9As.
btw, just try to appeal. who knows you might be lucky.

i'm not trying to bring your spirit down. just to tell you the truth.

btw, give us your full spm result. 1 subject can't help much.

in my opinion, you should go. i mean, a lot of people applied & still they didn't get the offer. you shouldn't let that offer slip away. are you a non-bumiputera too?

you know what, you did bring my spirit down to the lowest level XD but don't worry, i did expect that kind of reply.

my elder sister told me to give it up but deep down my heart, i feel like i shouldn't even though i knew the outcome.

full result as in subjects & greds?

why u really wanna go to matrics? i tell u what, matrics is a kind of shortcut.. and the quality is less than diploma or stpm.. the only advantage is that u can finish faster.. but is finishing studies is all we we want? dun we want the quality? if u go into matrics, u need to prepare urself to be alert.. they teach so fast u know blink.gif

I'm bumi.
the reason i got matric with just 5As is because priority is given to SBP student.

I'd rather take diploma than matric. Diploma route is much more safer compared to matric. I'm no fast learner.

furthermore, i want to take architecture, if i go into matric. hard for me to continue architecture for my degree.

so... better for me to take the safe route and leave my place in matric for other deserving students who work hard for it but couldn't get in.

sekolah berasrama penuh= SBP smile.gif

yup. easier to go degree with matriculation. but i've mention that i want to pursue architecture. with no basic skills like drawing. going straight into degree will be a HARD time for me.

that's why i choose politeknik diploma senibina. they teach you from basic.
hope i'll be able to get into politeknik diploma.

im new here & i hope anyone who read this can give me some advise..

i did applied for matriculation but didn't got the offer for the program satu tahun since i got a D7 in add maths. so, im hoping that i can go to the program dua tahun (PDT). my questions are, am i hoping too much? should i stop hoping since im a non-bumiputera student? can a non-bumiputera go to the program dua tahun (PDT) or is it just reserved for the bumiputera students? is there a meritocracy system behind the selection of program tahun kedua students?

im have good results in the other subjects but the add maths was really a set back for me. i really wanna go for matriculation & i hope who reply this can shed some light in my current dilemma.

i also get 7d for add maths... most of ma friend phail in it...

i wont be appeling anymore.... decided to go private college in expese of wasting $$$$ on it... guess i wont be selected for program 2 tahan either. my Parent don give shit on it either . whistling.gif

why is it so difficult for people to understand?.........it is official policy.....

UP TO 10% of places can be given to non malays........for an estimated intake of 20k, than means a maximum of 2000 places can be given to chinese and indians....some years it's more like 7-8% only.......

firstly,im an ex kmpk student.from what i've learned during matric,it is no different than studying in school.we go to class.got exam.and d class is from 8 am to 4pm.only got 1 hour to rest.the only thing that differ is that we don't have to wear school uniform anymore.instead,we have to wear shirts and slacks for the guys and baju kurung or blouse for gals.the subjects that we learned has no big difference from the school subjects.just an extra indepth about the topics we learned.one more thing,in kmpk,we call our lecturers as teachers.i dunno bout other matric though.
secondly, for chinese, this is the time to get to know malay friends.this is one of the good point of matric.i see my chinese friends in kmpk always hang around with malay friends during the break.another thing is that ex-matric chinese are respected by ex form 6 chinese or ex diploma chinese in d university.this is because the ex-matric chinese are kinda like 'good breeds'.
thirdly, matric is only for those who want to pursue studies in medic or engineering at local universities.this is because when they got in the matric,75% of them only want to get cgpa 4.0 and go for all the so-called high standard studies.this is another example of our bad education system.the students only know study, study, and study and don't know how to socialize.most of my friends in d uni now said that they don't have much friends during matric days.i dont mean to be proud but i have friends during study, friends during lunch@dinner,friends during watching and playing football, and friends to hang out at shopping complex.
all i can say for the soon to be matric student is think hard before you go.my sister is going to matric as well but i told her if she gets other offer, better go for it.for me,my matric days are only filled with memories of great friends and watching football together.studies?naah..i wish my mom allow me to go to form 6..

based on my experience, yea.as long as u get good grades.but still depend on what kind of engineering u want to take.electrical and electronic certainly needs cgpa 4.0.my friend who had cgpa 3.2 is now at ukm studying mechanical engineering.

what i mean is you need to study,at the same time,maintain@develop your social skills.another friend of mine who was active during matric days by playing squasy and organise event got cgpa 3.95 and now studying medic in usm.

I known someone who's now studying final year UTM chemical engineering. she got 3.8 for her matric. but that was 4 or 5 years ago. not sure how much they needed now to enter engineering course.

that depends NOT on the scholarship body, but where you are supposed to go to study....if it is local, most ipts will recognise the matrik for entry purpose......

on the other hand, if it is overseas, most unis do NOT recognise matrik, and you will then need to do a recognised pre-u programme, which will vary depending on where.........

A daughter devastated, a mother with no answers

A Schoolteacher | Apr 17, 08 3:27pm

I am a teacher by profession. I am teaching in a government school. Being a teacher, I am expected to inculcate moral values in my teachings. I have memorised all the sixteen values 'Nilai-nilai Murni' as a result of twenty-five years of teaching - values that transcend curriculum. Day in day out, all the students are exposed to all the values which are expected to cultivate good thinking and moral values among our young citizens. Examples of some of the moral values are being kind-hearted, respecting each other, fairness, honesty, and moderation.
In the recent SPM examination, many of my students did very well, some scoring straight As. We, teachers of all races, felt so very proud seeing the achievements of our students. We had 'Hari Anugerah Cemerlang' in my school. Parents, regardless of race or religion were there to lend support for the programme and at the same time to motivate the children. One such student is my own daughter, who scored 12 As, best student of the school. She used to wake as early as 4 o'clock in the morning to start preparing for her SPM.
When I asked her why she has to take up 12 subjects and 'torture ' herself, she told me, 'I am not a bumiputera like many of my friends.' So the need to take up two extra subjects (not offered in her school) in order to be on par with her Malay friends.
She applied for the Progran Matrikulasi well before SPM itself. Yesterday was the day she was eagerly waiting since obtaining her SPM results because all the applicants will get their reply from the matriculation office. While I was in school, my handphone rang. It was a call from my daughter. When I answered the call she was already sobbing, and I am so silly to think that it was tears of joy.
The sobs turn to cries after she heard my voice - she was devastated, depressed and very disappointed because she failed to get entry into this government-sponsore d programme. She is the eldest in my family. I have another three school going children. May be I am to be blamed because it was me who asked her to study hard, get good results because being an ordinary teacher I can not afford to send her to private colleges.
When I came back after school yesterday afternoon, again I saw tears in her eyes. She asked several questions. 'Is it wrong to get 12 As in SPM? My Malay friends who got 2As and 3 As got to do the matriculation programme, I am denied. What's wrong? You are also a teacher just like uncle, (my Malay college in school) his son was offered a place although he scored only 5As. Why?' I don't have answers.
Being a teacher (I teach History and Moral Education), I teach my students to be loyal to the country, to respect the leaders, to obey the laws of the nation, to promote goodwill and so on. I encourage them to participate in 'Rimup' (a race integration programme among students of various races).
I do not know what to say to my daughter. I feel guilty because what I teach in school is actually rubbish, perhaps I need to tell them the reality being a non-Malay citizen of our beloved nation. For that I need to resign. Please Mr. Prime Minister, may be you have something to tell us.

Abolishing the quota is the wrong responce. It will just amplify the problem. We should go back to one common qualifying test: STPM.

Many people forget that Matrikulasi is just one of the many backdoors to university entrance. Only in Malaysia will we have so many possible pathways after Form 5: A levels, CPU, SAM, IB etc. If the education department was truly serious in reforming the system, they should abolish all alternative qualifications, and let's all just stick to STPM.

Only in Malaysia will we have so many pre-U qualifications. In many parts in the world, there is only one qualification for domestic students, be it UK A levels, Australian Year 12, New Zealand Year 13 etc. The advantages would be huge for uni's: they wouldn't have to crack their head wondering if a CGPA of 3.9 in STPM = SAM TER 98 = A levels AAAA.

Of course, like most asians, no one cares as long as it doesn't affect them. The muddier, the better.

Actually, i don't agree with the system too. I'm a Malay. i only got 5As for my spm. and i know someone in this forum that get 12As but don't get matric. it makes me feel that i do not deserve a placement in matric. but i know a 7As chinese who got matric. how's that?

please don't make the topic a political issue. It is for matriculation student. It is under education essential. if you want to argue about the education system or quota thingy, open a new thread in RWI.

back to the topic. anyone else got matric but not sharing it? biggrin.gif

who's talking about politics? it's just a story of someone's life.....

there is no transparency in matrik selection and grading system, and certainly no meritocracy....and yet that is the main pathway into ipta......

and I have said it many times, non malays are chosen at random from 2nd liners, not for the purpose of excelling but as pacers for the malays, who are also mostly 2nd liners(the cream gets jpa, mara overseas scholarships).....so why are people surprised chinese with 7a are chosen?

Omg.. It's heart-breaking..
Sad to see this!!
But i think she will have been offered to study somewhere else which is better than government-sponsored programme!
With a result of 13A, can get it most private colleges/universities FOC!!

My English teacher told me that he used to have a female Chinese student who studied in Malay School, grew up with Malay girls, played with them and so on.
After SPM, most of her friends got into Matric and she was denied. My teacher was in that Malay School, started convincing and helping her.
She was unable to accept the result. She said she was almost a Malay, living in a Malay residential area. She was extremely upset..
Finally, my teacher asked her to be a teacher. So she joined Maktab Perguruan and during that time her mentality was already unstable..
But she managed to finish the Maktab Perguruan and she was sent to Taiping to be a training teacher.
She acted weird in the school and scolded the principal. Finally, after many procedures, she was sent to mental hospital at Tanjung Rambutan.
Her parents were very sad to see her smart(good-result) daughter to end up like this.
My teacher still didn't give up and tried to help her. After taking medicine, her condition was stable and she was able to leave the mental hospital.
She just stayed at home and talked to herself sometimes.

And...... Now she was no longer in the earth...
Committed suicide at a peaceful night, jumping into Krian river.....
A true and sad story to tell..

i seriously doubt her mental condition was due to her failure to get into matrik.....i have very severe criticisms of the matrik system, but i draw the line at blaming it for someone's mental illness.....her problems sounds endogenous to me, not a reaction to an exogenous problem.....ie, she basically had a inherent psychological illness.....

as for getting into ipts for free, sorry to burst your bubbles, but there are VERY few ipts scholarships, so the chance is very small, considering the number of multi-grade-a-osis around.......remember ipts exist to MAKE money from you, not give you money......but there are many other ways, if there is a will, many have gone through this experience before, and came out stronger.....but at the price of a loss of innocence, and death of patriotism.....

Hey.. She was being brought up with Malay and she was a straight A student... blink.gif
She certainly had no inherit psychological illness. That time matriculation was just opened for Malay.
She was the only Chinese in the Malay school(that batch), believe that?
The failure of getting in matric like most of her dearest friends did is the main cause to make her ending up like this...
This is true, no point that u deny it.

Well, now the condition changed, as government had opened some placement in matric for non-malay.

Let's see a brief history of this matric thing.

I've heard that this matric thing has existed for a very long time. But it's just that, it was opened to non-bumis around 10 years ago. Before that, we have quota system (don't remind me of the ratio). So, it's like before we non-bumis can get into matric, all non-bumis take stpm in order to get into public universities.

And as a rule of thumb according to 'Malaysian convention', there have always been non-bumis who scored high in stpm, and who have concomitantly failed to get into their desired courses. They usually get perhutanan, perikanan, perkapalan, etc courses which they do not even know exist.

Then, it's like an annual festival, in which these fellas would go to MCA or other institution to show the officers their results and ask the officers to do something about it. Laughably, the government even set up an appealing website for these fellas. They might instead convert such an effort into bettering the education system.

Then, someone think that this annual festival cannot be allowed to propagate. Thus, they put out a proposal of 'abolishing quota system', replacing it with 'merit system'. In mandarin, I call that 'change soup but not change medicine'. And we are the monkeys who were played by the 'morning 3 evening 4' tricks. Remember that, we learned that in primary school and we laughed loudly at those monkeys which were so stupid to accept such a deal. And now we are those monkeys.

The ratio remains the same, or at least similar. Do you think that reflects the genuine ratio in terms of academic capability? We can say no without referring to any statistics because we're born in this country, and we've been seeing this phenomenon for as long as we live.

Please, why rush for something which depress your values? There are still other options waiting for you to discover. STPM is one. A waste of time? Not, after you finish it. Then you'll realize who's wasting time.

QUOTE(exec @ Apr 23 2008, 11:57 AM)

Thumb up and applause for your thread, senior. thumbup.gif rclxms.gif
But as far as I know, STPM is extremely hard.. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

here brief story about matrix system...
in 1st sems exam u must get above 1.5 to pass...if not ur going to be kicked...
and ur total cgpa(1sems pointer + 2nd sems pointer) must be above 2.00 to get accepted in ipta...if ur total pointer
are in the range 1.5<X<2.0 meaning ur given a chance to repeat 1 more time...
if total cgpa below 1.5...go find diploma programme
at that is only for 1 year matrix..

i think matrix that hav been built around 2003/2004 is most modern...and bigger..

A true and sad story to tell..

yeah, with that salary, u can live comfortably, provided if dont go to private college.

the ones hit hardest when it comes to education is the middle class.

not poor enough to receive scholarships, not rich enough to fund our own studies.

hey, just a question, will matrik ask us to bring our parents slip gaji? ( i mean in the letter did they ask for it?)

if my parents change job, im afraid they'll accuse me of falsifying my parents gaji in the borang...

some ipts accept matrix result...like utp...but some don't where u must enrolled in their on foundation..
the key is to get 3.00 pointer and above...

and some advice for ''will be matrix student'' don't think matrix is like spm where u can study last minutes...
if ur not a genius or fast learner don't do it...in my batch even 10A spm student got kicked...
and after u got in the matrix focus on finishing it...don't quit and join another programmes...
many people want to enrolled in matrix u hav just taken their spot so don't waste it...

what don't u consider entering unikl....although it is ipts...u can apply loan with mara..
if u excel...grad.. with 3.5 and above pointer u will only hav to pay half i think...
if u enter poli u only get ptptn...where u hav to pay the full loan plus 3%

unikl also provide good basic skill...bcoz it teach u hands on not just purely theoritical
ever heard of unikl miat...that are some of the example of unikl campus...

this is symbolic of how far the propanganda of some political parties have gone, so much that even the REAL bumiputras themselves have doubts about their own status......

you as an iban are the REAL bumiputra of this land, together with the orang asli, and the other indigenous peoples of the borneo states......

it is subject to argument, anthropologically, whether the other recent migrants (ie sections of the 'malay' group, which is an artificially created heterogeneous group, indians, chinese, ceylonese etc) are bumiputras or not.......but we know of course the political definition.....ala entry criteria to uitm......

yeah. it's increase by 250 more than past year.

we can only if we got sponsorship from JPA/MARA. or the asasi program<--most of the asasi related to medic. if we quit hal-way we have to pay the penalty. not sure how much.

the penalty is real....at least for some matrix...
matrix like kolej mara kuala nerang and kolej mara kulim..if u quit u will not get penalty bcoz the student there are not given allowance like other matrix

i hav a fren who were in 2 year matrix programme where he quit in december and later receive a letter asking him to pay rm1000 as a penalty..
but another fren doing the same thing but didn't get penalty...
both from different matrix

If so.....
You are asked to pay back TWICE the allowance! If you get RM1,250 then you must pay back RM2,500!
Furthermore, you are gonna be caught to Bukit Aman and be caned in jail!!!!
There will be tears and blood flowing with unprecedented feeling of helpless, sorrow and fear!!!!
Your life will soon end up as a governmental slave, pay back 10 times on what you've done falsely!!!!

if you already enter, you will get penalty if you want to go out of matric.

if just got the offer, and not entering it yet, you'll not get any penalty if you rejected the offer.

I think it should be replaced with the "Best English Subject Scoring Teacher". brows.gif

Have you seen his son? His son is totally different with him! Different gene, gene from Puan Goh(Mr Wong's wife) i guess.
His son is very fair, unlike him at all. And sometimes, Puan Goh appears at the entrance there, talking something with Mr Wong.
Then we would ask Mr Wong purposely, "Who is she? 谁来的?" Then he just ignored us.
Then we acted like not knowing she is Puan Goh. "Har.. Talk with other girl a... Later tell ur wife~ <Cunning expression>"
"我自己的老婆也不知道meh? 我养她养到肥肥白白(fei fei bak bak)的啊。。"
"My own wife also can't recognize meh? I feed her until so fair and fat~" He said proudly.

Interesting? Many other stories~ We always "play" him 1~ whistling.gif whistling.gif

If I choose Science Physical course in my matric application, can I change to Life science later on?

wanna ask. what is the difference between MBBS and doctor of medicine(MD)?

what is the minimum matriculation pointer to enter USM "doktor Perubatan" course?

They're all the same la, just name only different. Example, Proton Waja and Proton Impian, same thing different name. If im not mistaken UKM is the only IPTA in Malaysia that produces M.D. graduates while the others are M.B.B.S. Lol I think M.D. sounds nicer tho but whats the use of a nice title when you cant even do your job properly haha.

Malaysia

The University of Malaya and Universiti Teknologi MARA both award MB BS. Other public universities such as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Sabah and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, however, follows the North American model and style their degrees as Doctor of Medicine. There is an increasing number of private medical schools in Malaysia, offering either full programs (with the whole course completed within Malaysia) or joint programs (where part of the course is completed at an overseas institution). The entrance into the medical faculty in the public universities is very competitive, and often causes controversy and tension among students and their respective parents nationwide.

erm..first of all,you dont get straight into uni without undergoing any pre-U courses. If you are refering to UPU,it is also a pre-U course that is quite limited to non-muslim.Matrix is better considering the fact that it is shorter in duration compared to STPM.About the quality,i can say that it is sufficient to prepare you for Uni.Thats what pre-U courses are for, arent they??

sufficient in the sense that you are learning the basics that are required so that you can face university courses easier..look,the debate between matrix vs STPM vs private colleges is neverending, some say its better and vice versa..so i am not going to get myself involved in this battle..juz offering my 0.002 cents..cheers rclxm9.gif

he was turned down for medicine coz they didnt accept foreigners and he still could do something else.

sorry i dont..

like i told somewhere b4, its better if u ask people who know this straight from fact, like counselor, they have some information regarding uni admission and they should have way to get the info, or maybe u can give a call to the uni directly, or maybe u can find the requirement admission guidleine book for each IPTA..

the requirement may change frm time to time, so its better to get confirmation that ask around like this..

obtained at least 3.67 for the following subjects :

bio
chem
physics/maths T/further maths

and

at least a credit in SPM in the followin subs :

bio

i've checked USM website and download the requirement.

tried to called them but could not reach.

it is stated in the program requirement that student need to have either phy and bio with pass in english in SPM level.

so, i think if I do well in matric physical science, i can go to medic.
just that, i'm afraid if there is any hidden requirement.

i'm taking physical science. wonder if i can cope with matric bio if i change my course to life science...

just that, do physical science student with no basic in bio during spm level can really enter MD program. because, some uni don't require us to have bio during matric, but, actually they have hidden requirement which require us to take bio in SPM. wonder if USM do that system...

because(in this case, i take USM as example), it is stated in their program requirement that we don't need to have bio in matriculation, and just pass in english for spm. wonder if they have hidden requirement.

Hello everyone, I'm new here. *bows* The name is Ensu, and I'm going to KMM.

I want to ask, if I decided to drop out in the middle of my matrics course, how much should I pay back to the gov? RM1250 or RM2500? The agreement clause is pretty mind-boggling for me. ^^;

i'm taking physical science. wonder if i can cope with matric bio if i change my course to life science...

just that, do physical science student with no basic in bio during spm level can really enter MD program. because, some uni don't require us to have bio during matric, but, actually they have hidden requirement which require us to take bio in SPM. wonder if USM do that system...

because(in this case, i take USM as example), it is stated in their program requirement that we don't need to have bio in matriculation, and just pass in english for spm. wonder if they have hidden requirement.
*
it depends how many students applied for medic .. i think the priority is given to student with bio background ..

I'm ex-SBP(boarding school).

life at matric is nothing compare to SBP. in fact, all those rules make you become more discipline.

during my time in sbp, if we late in finishing our dinner, in my case, must finish ur dinner before 6.45pm. we will get 2 stroke of rotan on our hand. hoho. after receive the punishment we usually run to water cooler to ease the pain.

matric not to strict la. just go. in fact, i love my experience in SBP. i enter sbp in F4, before that, i was from SMKKGV, seremban. it's the whole new experience that i'll never forget. i miss my old time in SBP.

I advise you to go for matric. the experience is very2 valuable. the hard part is, when you're leaving matric. imagine, leaving your friends after 1year together.

my bro go for matric for 1month before accepting JPA scholarship to pursue medic in egypt. at first, he want to reject the JPA scholarship because he love his life in matric. but, he go for JPA after his friends and all his lecturer convince him to go. ha was so sad that he cry when leaving his friends in matric. that just 1 month. same thing happen to me when i leave SBP.

go for matric if you want a whole new experience.

me , i just think its too late.
u gain experience when ur schooling.
life after spm?
everything is serious matter.
now , u might think,
"strict rules"
"no friend"
once u enter,
everything is about "scoring".
cos its gonna be damn hard.
and u dont want to get bad results.
waste 1 year. no rite?

so my opinion.
dont go matric 4 d sake of u want to follow ur friend, meet ppl , enjoy.

but of course. everything is tough.
make it diploma,foundation,matric,a-level. anytg.
so dats y i say.
u want to score , get wat u want,
now is too late to be demanding.
too late to be playing around.

but of course.
main , main jugak.
enjoy , enjoy jugak.
agak2 la kan.

For all non-bumis out there, if u "managed" to get into matriculation, go for it.Don't waste the chance.U can easily get the course that u want and it is very easy to score compared to stpm. For sixth formers students, even if u score 4.0,u will only have 50% of the chances to get medicine.I know it is a bit unfair but this is reality!!!I "wouldn't" say that our education policy is "bias"...but "fair"...up to u guys....tc....

well wat he said absolutely true... im the ex matricer..... i saw alotof my frens went into Form6 and none of them get 4.0... i didnt mean form sixer cant score 4.0 at all... juz harder if compared to matrixer... some of the local uni courses do require 4.0 for all applicants... if u cant manage to get 4.0 in ur form 6... sorry to say.. u r out..... cry.gif

If u get the offered....go for it.... fight for ur own future.... reality is always unfair... either u choose ur path for pride gaining or via the "smart tunnel"

I can say that every college has it's own administration, and they make up the rules for the student to follow.

Depends on where you'll be staying.

1. Every weekend, yes you have the rite to go out for outing, unless there is special event which the college holds like educational programs, koko activites and etc where these students are compulsory to attend.

2. What time you wake up usually depends on your schedule, but normally lecturer/tutorial/lab starts at 8am or 9am depending whether your time table is packed or not.So up to you to whether wake up at 730 or 6 or even 5am

3. For koko activities, kinda differs to every college IMO, cause I had my koko activities in the second term (Modul 2 here). But rest assured, during the orientation phase, they will inform you which modules get which term for their koko activities. Koko activities will be in your time table, it's like PE class during school time, so just visit your koko teacher who is responsible for your class. Weekends is normally planned for extra koko events that won't bother the students study time.

4. Good luck, matrix life is fun, you'll mostly bond with your friends there wink.gif
