I called their customer support to let them know what is my view as a customer.

First of all price for 1.2mbps is more compare to any 3G/4G/ADSL provider in country. Contract.

They are with a new technology but where is the advantage ? a big size modem and they call its mobile ?

If they dont revise their package, sure they will join Aussie gang.

My area is covered but I am not giving up on 4yrs streamyx line(very stable) for them.

I think will wait another 6 month.

Any body got their connection please share your experience.
*
I have to agree the size of the modem is a big turn off tongue.gif. As stated by them, this is WiMAX for home solution as they are introducing the USB size WiMAX dongle soon.

I too personally won't subscribe now tongue.gif, i think only people who don't have internet connection will consider P1 W1MAX at the moment. For others, we are waiting for mobility WiMAX but not the home solution WiMAX smile.gif

Australia ISP failed because they are cheapskate tongue.gif

If you plan to buy a kancil, don't expect it can perform like a ferari ...

QUOTE(Zepx @ Aug 22 2008, 12:40 PM)
Aussie might fail because of their connection probably. I think australia already have very high speed internet access.

On the contrary, we, on the other hand are desperate users for high speed internet access. So the possibility for success would be higher.

Btw, I think there are 3 more wimax license holder company who had not yet show their faces. In total, there should be 4 companies holding this wimax license.
*
Please see the above link on why Australia Buzzbroadband failed.

QUOTE(owc @ Aug 22 2008, 12:42 PM)
Yeh, ask the 3 more W1Max show their face......

Stop Scamxy monopoli the market with sux service

Redtone has launched on 20 August (one day after P1 W1MAX) ... lol ...
Asiaspace (Amax - too lazy to think of a name, ciplak from AMEX and DUMEX) is launching end of this month.
Most operators will announce that they are launching but the size of the coverage is very much unknown, probably they only want to secure their spectrum (just show to the government).

QUOTE(owc @ Aug 22 2008, 12:48 PM)
OMG, soon Malaysia will be many Microwave signal from all ISP company.....
How about our inecent life?
Regarding the professor, they saying those signal can couse many ilness.
*
Microwave signals are all around us for more than 10 years ago. I will say your professor is right that it's harmful to human health. But it's a trade off in between health and our way of life. Cars produce CO which also polute the environment and bad for our health. Do you see anyone doing anything to stop car production?

QUOTE(owc @ Aug 22 2008, 01:01 PM)
Hope P1 invent a new modem that allow us to connect an external anntena.
if let say we stay at 20th floor we put a wire antenna to lowewr floor  tongue.gif
Hope they can do that or try improve their service  to support high story condo,

Added on August 22, 2008, 1:03 pm

as i call to the technical department of P1 they mantion of 8~9 floor is maximum wor.....
if more your signal will strikely slower until nothing
*
Hahaha ... you can use a longer LAN cable and hang your modem out from 20th floor to 10th floor also ... lol ...

QUOTE(casey @ Aug 22 2008, 01:27 PM)
Wow .....have to pay RM1500 for a overheated modem which is really not our fault, and that is really not right !!

Besides that, looks like there is still teething problems at the beginning and base is still small  smile.gif  smile.gif

But a nice start of WIMAX, more competition for TMNUT, hopefully we could get better service in the future  sweat.gif

Just my "HOPE"  yawn.gif
*
Unless the WiMAX cpe reaches the open market, else I don't see how WiMAX can threaten Streamyx. As of now, it's just like another Izzinet. WHen Intel comes out with 2.3Ghz Intel Centrino 2 chipset next year, Streamyx will start to sweat.

What package are you on? Hmm, noticing the slightly higher ping response but how's the usage so far? hmm.gif
If you're a subscriber, there is a 1-year warranty as mentioned by some forum member earlier.

Nevertheless, I still would find it weird because the hardware burns out after being left turned on for 365 days 24/7. Mainly because, our modem routers (no matter what brand) is left that way and they've not experienced any issues.

Though I've heard some cases of hardware overheating. Must be either 'ciplak' brand or the components used are 'ciplak' low cost so I can make more money kind. laugh.gif

Beware of getting penalty of RM1,500.00 due to modem bomb...

Besides, if registered trial and real user. if you in 2 week no happy, you need get fine RM50.00.
So, please make sure you are happy with it.....
No body say no good to P1, if so.....if want return in 2 week..... pay penalty RM50.00

Today morning i have ask P1 technical department.
THey said that, their BASESTATION only goes up to 15km not 50km......(50km is only the teory that base on others country) (not in malaysia, malaysia no so high end)
(40mbps also will not in malaysia, malaysia no so high end....) (you pay money, you get penuts in malaysia)

In my opinion, i think that P1 maybe brought 2nd hand basestation anternna from other cuntry so that other country can upgrade more high end 1....

Such as, the expired food in malaysia has no value, but they take to afrika, will be have value......
Also same as the HongKong dress that already out of fasion, they export to malaysia, we malaysian buy all just as monkey never saw those new designed dress.

So they are wise of making those money with whistling.gif

They said that if your area no much user you will get high speed as 1.4mbps.
They said later on may drop back to 1.2mbps due to their pakages.

I think that they give over speed of pakages plan to attrect customer at 1st...

no idea this can last how long?

streamyx customer service said that they only promise 70% speed for u.

so if you subscrube to streamyx look carefull those agreement, and deduct 30% speed but your $$ paying no deduct.... sweat.gif

I guess because businesses are more reliant on upstream than home users so ISPs sell higher upstream packages to business customers who are willing to pay more.

According to the RF link budget, despite the basestation downlink can go up to 50km, uplink limitation will be the stopping point, hence it's pointless to actually have the basestation to be able to transmit at high power to such a distance. Not to say 15km, 2-3km are considered to be far if P1 W1MAX CPE is transmitting at an output power EIRP approved by the MCMC.

According to the capacity planning, WiMAX Basestation in Malaysia should be able to reach 35Mbps (per 10Mhz channel bandwidth) maximum (as it's limited by the 30Mhz spectrum assigned by the government). Note that the 35 Mbps are shared for everyone connecting under the same basestation (not individual 35 Mbps).

Some questions are not required to ask the ISP when you can actually read and understand it on the web first. So if next time, when they bullshit you, you can scold them back. As for me, I won't waste time to call the customer service and ask about technical questions, I believe at this stage of their initial service roll out, they will bullshit you all the way until you are annoyed and hanged up tongue.gif.

Based on the news (from local paper), P1 is using Alcatel-Lucent basestations, and for your information also from the news that P1 is the first in the world that deploy WiMAX on 2.3Ghz on 10Mhz channel bandwidth. So I don't see anyone can sell second hand basestation and antenna to them.

The above is based on research, study and logical deduction.
This is to avoid silly people asking silly question and get silly answer.

I believe this is usual in any ISP in the world, the ISP will need to be smart enough to tackle the issue and perform excellent capacity planning and know when to upgrade and add additional site to cater for growing customer while maintaining satisfactory of their customers.

Today morning 9.15am, I had called the P1 Technical Support. While they answer my question about the IP address.
They said that the P1 W1max currently is using Static IP Address. It needs to set inside the modem. Hence, every time you reboot your modem, the IP will stick with the modem without release.

Besides, while I ask 2nd question about the Personal & Business Plan spec are same. It just the Business plan will entitle to have 1st priority to the customer service and the quality of service. Besides, personal plan is a 2nd or the last priority of their service. (Is it the speed of Business entitled to 1st Priority?)

Furthermore, when I ask about the overheat modem. They mention if try user burn the modem have to pay RM1, 500.00, while registered user will entitle to have 1 year warranty for the modem. If try user on try period burn the modem must pay and the registered user after 1 year warranty have to purchase 2nd modem RM999.00

Nationwide Access, they explained as while we travel to other state. Such as, from KL or Selangor you travel to Melaka, Penang or Others if got coverage.  If we subscribe to Promotion Packages on 12 month or 24 month term the RM10 is waves.

If signed the contract you must use for 12 or 24 month according the contract. If you want Unsubscribe you need to pay the rest of the remaining month. P1 advice that you don’t unsubscribe their service, If you Unsubscribe you still had to pay. (It sound like ah long)

About the monthly bandwidth, P1 said that currently there is no monthly bandwidth yet. The 20Gb is just a rumor according to their Technical Department.
Modem Price = free thumbup.gif  Valid Until End of September  moneyflies.gif
Register fee = RM100.00 vmad.gif
Activation fee = RM50.00 mad.gif
Stamp Duty = RM10.00 cool2.gif

Packages fee = RM89 per month for 1.2Mbps nod.gif  for 2 sad.gif years Subscribe
1st Month Pay:
=RM249 sad.gif  without Technical Installation

Packages fee = RM199 per month for 2.4Mbps thumbup.gif  for 2 sad.gif years Subscribe
1st Month Pay:
= RM359 cry.gif  without Technical Installation
Optional:
Fengsui master come to your house install the modem = RM80.00 sweat.gif
If needed just call P1 & they will arrange for you  tongue.gif

Do you ask them about speed and coverage? Especially speed, cause the site stated it will be on best effort basis... so will it be like streamyx?

And about coverage, the last time i checked their website, the coverage map was unable to view
