Then you don't even need wimax, you just need dialup. Why waste the money, right?
*
It's an obvious answer really.

Would you want 15 minutes (or more) for Facebook to load or 5 minutes (or less) for Facebook to load? Same question I'd posted when checking emails.

If you asked me, I'm paying for the convenient speed available so I don't have to waste time on dialup anymore. Unless of course, you've all the time in the world in front of your monitor. tongue.gif

..When MELAKA?

Ali Gostan said last week  : "WTFxx Melaka broadband only 1-2MB , how do attract oversea company invest here." 凸
*
Every time I hear Melaka now it reminds me of Datukship to Shah Rukh Khan. LOL! tongue.gif

Anyway, I don't believe it's on the Internet affecting the investors in Melaka. If I recall Economics involves a lot of other matters. So either Ali doesn't really know, or every Malaysia state seems to be stressing how important is a good Internet now. LOL!

Wimax isit wireless broadband , no need fix line to connect ?
the modem tat they provide , isit juz  wifi or cable ? max how many comp or laptop can connect ?
anyone at Ampang area has subscribed ?
pls share experience isit stable , faster , no dc , no slowdown, better than Streamyx
*
Technically, you only need to connect 2 things. Network cable from the modem to your computer and power plug from modem to socket. And yes, it's wireless.

According to their website, you can share upto 3-5 computers I think. All you need to do is plug the network cable into the router.

Sigh, I'm still wondering when it's coming to Kelana Jaya. Especially when their office is so near now - Seksyen 222 area. cry.gif

Oversea investors' companies will not subscribe to Home Broadband.
If a MNC can't afford a leased line for its company, I think it should have some financial problem.
*
A MSC status company (foreign owned) that I know has a leased line, and you know what? Even the leased line, which cost a lots of money, isn't performing up to par.

Just like what we have with streamyx.

Same TM shyyyyyt !

Actually, I believe their like trying to cover the whole KL first before returning to their home base in PJ. Maybe they feel it's much easier setting up in PJ than KL. hmm.gif

Urm, are they providing the line to Malaysia or international customers overseas? I won't be surprised if this was caused by their backbone. ROFL! tongue.gif

Ya .. is it because they are the only provider that has so far made the most WiMAX deployment across the nation, having the most reliable connection, fastest speed and best customer support, therefore threatening the existence of TMnut and Maxucks?

Why do you say it's Wimax? I read the papers today, they list 4 companies and so far only one company has not done anything yet to start launching, I've heard of all other 3 companies doing it. The papers clearly state that only one of the 4 companies get the sack, so it's obvious which one it is...definitely not P1 since I'm seeing P1 everywhere, online, on the papers etc. etc.

Well, I highly doubt it's P1 because the minister made it clear at the time the errant providers who can't deliver on time and the quality promised will be axed from their license holding.

ROFL! I was thinking about the same thing. rclxms.gif

Though it's still not good news because it's going to open an opportunity for TMNut to come in later if they acquire the license.

I didn't sense determination but I did sense a threat. AFAIK, there's only 1 company which I've heard no news of their launch - Asiaspace.

P1 - KL
Redtone - East Malaysia
YTL e-Solutions - East Malaysia

If I'm right, Asiaspace was suppose to deploy in West Malaysia as well. But there hasn't been news on them.

P1 is one of WIMAX company, giving internet access using WIMAX infrastructure, yes, P1 got more coverage than other their competitor, however, if the service quality does not meets the requirement, they should stop...
Government already give 6 month to these WIMAX company to serve WIMAX to specific place as at least 1MB/s speed, now we have to wait the result... cool.gif

BTW, Asiaspace has launched WiMAX .. it's called AMAX ... I came across it a few days ago at ACT exhibition @ KL convention center ... both P1 and Asiaspace were there. It seems that AMAX has quite good coverage .. matching that of P1 ... and they seem to have been collaborating with P1 in their coverage areas by not having conflicting areas. I tested both WiMAX .. unbelievable fast speed for both!

AMAX Coverage Areas

I guess the inactive company that the goverment threatens to revoke license would be YTL E-Solution ... i never heard anything from them other than a very very small trial (show show thingy). Asiaspace seems to have political connection, so I doubt it will get revoked.

I don't see it mentioning P1 being revoked anywhere on news sites...instead what I read goes something like this :

"Frankly, I am just waiting for whoever that can't deliver," Minister of Energy, Water and Communications Shaziman Abu Mansor, warned last month after launching the country's first 802.16e mobile WiMax service by Packet One Network (P1). "I want to take the license and give it to someone who is serious to roll out [the WiMax services]."
Apart from P1, REDtone International and Asiaspace also managed to launch their WiMax services at the tail-end of last month. However, YTL's subsidiary Y-Max Networks has yet to launch its service.

Shaziman was firm about the year-end deadline for WiMax licensees to achieve a minimum 25 percent population coverage. License holders will also need to cover at least 40 percent of the population in areas they are licensed within three years. P1, Y-Max and Asiaspace can roll out their services nationwide, while REDtone is confined to the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.

Therefore, what you mentioned is baseless, as the minister that has the power to revoke the licenses mentioned this during P1's launch, as mentioned here being the first company to launch and Y-Max being the only company that has yet to launch....

I think most likely it's Redtone that the Minister of Energy, Water and Communications is refering to. Why? Because it seems that they are the only one which is putting the least effort.

-Amax has got quite a coverage in Klang Valley

-P1 is currently the front runner in rolling out Wimax in Malaysia

-Ymax though no news to the public but they are a conglomerate in Malaysia with good political connections. If they really put effort in it, their rollout would be faster than P1 with all that cash.
