What you have to know is, if there is an official launch in Malaysia, there would be 2 scenarios: subsidy or no subsidy
If there is no subsidy, the price is gonna be mad high, definitely won't be the RM1800-2300 you're seeing now. More towards RM3k... If there is a subsidy, you're gonna have to sign a data plan for 2 years or something, tying you down to a carrier, can't enjoy 3rd party apps and also customize your phone although version 2.0's app store might have rectified that by then. If you don't sign a data plan and want to unlock the phone, you will void the warranty. Which is what you'd have been doing anyway getting it now!! Which leads to the ultimate conclusion.. JUST BUY IT NOW AND DON'T THINK!!! |

I am not trying to be negative here but seems like many people just wanna own an iPhone just cause it looks cool and everyone here is owning one. They don't even know what are 3rd party applications or how to use them the correct way (how to transfer songs, convert movies etc)

Haha Vor, some people think its cool and nice to use. So they wanna get one. I love to use the computer last time, but I don't know. Learn lor.
So.. Anyone? What is 3rd party apps? So far does anyone have any problem with iPhone or something? Some people complaining about how iPhone freeze, this and that. Maybe that is quite normal but does that happen often and to alot of iPhone users? Anyone have any problems with iPhone now? |

There will be no confirmation before Apple launched any products. Those info are veery confidential. And majority predicted it will only be a 3G version of current model. I'm going to buy one end of this month also.

I've been wanting one since last year xD Wow, you want one? Here's a tip: instead of asking daddy to buy for you, why not save up/work part time and get one yourself..Nothing beats buying something with your own hands, especially when it comes to gadgets.. Hehe.. Oh, no guarantee by the way. If you have friends in the US, it will cost about US$420, but its location dependent, since tax in different cities varies.. In Malaysia, it's about 1850-2300 depending on seller and capacity... |

btw if iPhone finally arrives here, it will be easier for the non-contract iPhone users to get repair (of course la with a fee). not every people are willing to open and repair it by themselves, nor getting the spare parts from the net.

Well there's another topic talking about 3G iPhone coming out in 60days. Besides 3G applied on the upcoming iPhone, what else will be in the new iPhone?
If its only 3G... Its kinda useless for someone like me. I don't use 3G calling. I only use 3G to look at myself, and I rarely use it.. + the 3G camera on my phone isn't really good |

iphone will probably launch in Malaysia. According to rumors and sources singtel (one of the service provider in Singapore) had officially announced that they will launch the new 3G iphone when it launch. So Apple Malaysia will probably be affected. Therefore, guys don't make decision so quickly. Wait the new iphone to be launch.

Singapore Telco doesn't work the same as Malaysia's Telco if you take that into mind.
I believe the theory behind not having it here in Malaysia is due to the fact many Malaysians went overseas, get a phone they like, struck a deal with the telco, and quietly sneak home into Malaysia. Ta Da ! .. Free Phone .. |

we stuck in the middle.. old ones no stock, even if have, dealers won't be willing to let it go at low price... new ones, need to activate on spot... we'll just have to wait and see what happens |

QUOTE(OmniAtlas @ Jun 10 2008, 03:11 PM) that guys an idiot because you have to sign a contract for the iphone 3g. apple won't be selling yout he phone without a contract signing on the spot. bro, the statement of yours is very very bold.when there's a will, there's a way however i do agree that the actions taken by the particular seller in garage sales is too rash to be rational no one knows what it's gonna take to get their hands on the phones yet not to mention unlock and jailbreak only steve jobs knows what bootloader or firmware that its coming in, probably dev team gotta start from scratch again and it might even take a few months for that lets hope its the current bootloader and we all will be happy, not only malaysians but the world |

have you seen the 70 countries they offer, omg malta madgascar? WTF!!!!
its such a shame we dont have it in malaysia, but its still pending, lets pray celcom does something, they rather spend money on robert pires, giggs and john fall down terry(damn stupid commercials) than to secure a lucrative deal. http://www.apple.com/iphone/countries/ this is so damn annoying, grrr! lets hope the new ones are easier to unlock , and that ill pick up a white one in 3 to 4 months time, for an estimate price of 2K and below (hopefully) |

Bad news guys: Customers who purchase the iPhone 3G will have to activate it in Apple Stores or 30 days (penalties will be charged by AT&T). So you can't bring home a sealed unit, get me?

I do not know what new policy in regarding purchasing iPhone 3G. Unlocking, sure it will hapen.
A few months ago, when I was in the USA, I bought iphone (8GB) from Apple Store. No questions ask, no need to fill in forms. Just credit card, sorry they don't take cash !!! I think the trick is to buy it from Apple Store. |

IMHO, at USD199 the phone can only be obtain via telco's plan for 2 years |

It's 199 for 8GB, and 299 for 16GB. When the iPhone launches in Singapore, we will probably get it after them, maybe a month later.
BTW, I think the local telco's are giving Apple a hard time over here, maybe that was why no "Malaysia" mentioned in listing. But normally when a product launches in Singapore, Malaysia will get it as well. As for the price of the phone, I think it's going to be around the iPod touch's price. Geez, everyone in my company is waiting for the iPhone.. it's a bonus from our company, haha... |

LOL.... Steve jobs is great mar... Tell ppl the whole world it is 199 BUT... need to sign contract... Country like Malaysia dun really understand about that... Also the commission from Malaysia from monthly spending it not worth them bringing into Malaysia. Corporate user in UK and America pays on average GBP 100 - 150 per month for their bills... and i doubt we have many that pays that and would like to use iphone... having said that, it seems like iphone will never set foot into malaysia like many other game consoles...

if iPhone could come in, then we would've been long time having locked-in subscriptions plan that enables us to buy any phone a few couple of bucks like in Australia, UK and some countries.
I do hope ppl read or get some knowledge before say things like "wahh so smart hor him, go announce whole world is USD 199 but got Terms & Conditions wan". This is not something new, this has been for ages already for outside countries. |

I believe is more toward the Telco wanted to bring in or not.
Example Singapore Singtel brought in and park under their offer products. Most likely Apple did not give very good incentive to the Telco and M'sia Telco did not bring in. As I know Nokia, SE give some incentive to most of the Telco in M'sia. Another reason might be Neat market products ... |
