QUOTE(LaskarCinta @ Jun 3 2008, 05:28 PM) it's obvious that he is saying bout early adopters, thanks LaskarCinta. i get the picture now. sorry if i'm wrong, i was approaching from the perspective of thought by some people that think "this iPhone isn't compatible with maxis blah blah blah...", the people that think they need to patch their iPhones in order to make it compatible with local telcos. not about the unlock stuff actually. btw if it's about the official version, still it doesn't look like gonna happen soon because: 1. the real unlock isn't available yet for contract user. looking at the contract period of 2 years, maybe it will be made available another year at least. 2. it will be country locked. just look at the officially unlocked iPhones sold in in france and germany. they are still country locked. so technically, it's still locked. and yeah, look at this case. iPhone was released first in US, and then when it came to UK and germany. and it still use the same version of firmware (same download, same install) in these countries, while they are locked with different telcos. and looks like the early adopters in UK (hacked iPhones) doesn't need to install anything "special" after it's already unlocked. and yeah, most probably Apple doesn't care your iPhone anymore if u illegally unlock the iPhone (and not signing contract if buying telco-subsidised units). why they want to release a patch to illegal iPhones? yeah unless it's a patch to lock the iPhone again hehehe... but yeah, maybe i'm wrong. |
