maybe, you can just learn how to read notes until you got your piano..
secondly, Is rm100++ also out of your budget? there're many keyboard (not a toy one)
within that price.. Even Sogo got 1 keyboard at rm99 & rm140, good enough for practice.
and 1 also saw 61 key, full size keyboard.. unbranded one from rm250..

1) Get a teacher..

and/or

2) Download Buy piano books/dvd like
- Adult All-in-one Course: Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course : book 1, book 2, book 3
- Learn and master piano with will barrow (14 dvd sets + workbook + 5 cds).

There's also a lot of tutorial in youtube..

Alfred Basic Adult is a good start if one wants to play some modern songs. I personally like the John Thompson book for a greater variety.

That said, I think you need to invest in a better instrument. A piano is a piano, a keyboard is a keyboard. So do at least get a digital piano with weighted keys. I am sure as an adult you can spare some cash for your passion.

and playing with chord separately is not very useful IMO.

i'm in kelana jaya. school? i dont think i belong there anymore.. it's awkward when classmates are much much younger, no?

i just took a peek at Alfred Basic Adult at borders earlier, doesnt help much. the content are pretty much available on the net which i already studied, so i didnt buy. instead, i plan to just play any piano sheet i can get, particularly not the hard ones

hey, what's the different of piano and keyboard? i just got myself yamaha E223, is that ok for a start?

for one, the piano has weighted keys that the keyboard does not. this could mean that it is harder to control than a piano, and is especially bad for a beginner.

since u have already taken the effort to go for classes, then i suggest you better invest in a piano, even a digital one will do. RM 3000 should get you one that can see u for a few grades.

if you wana drift, then u obviously not going to learn how to on a Proton right? haha

guys.. pls help me. i sat with my center of body right at the middle c.
when i play c major cord (C-E-G), since it's in the middle of my body, i had to horizontally rotate/bend my right hand wrist a lot (towards the right of my arm) and it's painful.

i wonder is it because my right hand wrist is not flexible enough or do I have to sit further to the left of the keyboard/piano or what?

i'm a left handed guy (so my right hand is weaker than left hand) and I'm learning alone using online material (no plan to get a teacher bcoz this is just purely recreational/hobby only)..

please help. tq

you dont have to sit exactly in the middle, just suit yourself and make sure you're comfortable

how bout sit fuerther from your piano, you can bend or twist your body sideways or higher lower a lil to adjust the comfortableness of your wrist.

The bending of the hand like this is called adduction and it can indeed lead to injuries. You can move your body more to the right to reduce stress.

Obviously i have not seen you play and cant comment, but i think one of the reason could be that you are trying too hard to follow the "proper" way of keeping the fingers curled and hand parallel to the keyboard as taught to beginners. Remember to aim for comfort more than anything, you are after all playing for fun.

The other possible reason could be that you might be hesitant to "move into" the keys and thus have to over extent when trying to play with your fifth finger.

all that said, none of us here have seen u actually play, so best u get someone who knows to look and guide you.

If it is a sentimental piano, i suggest you to move the piano. If the piano condition is bad and requires repairing, i would recommend you to sell it in Mcca and get a better one in KL.
I have a mover that would cost your few hundred ringgits. If you need any assistance you can PM me.

actually any mover will do... Not necessary professional piano mover. but normal mover will have a hard job getting the piano on to the vehicle though it can be done and had been done.

find the right ppl aka piano mover.... it will be little more $$$ than ordinary mover but if anything might happen to the piano, that little saving will not be able to cover the cost of repair anyways.... so why not go for the right ppl.... i am not saying there's no risk if is handled by piano movers but the risk is many times higher if is done by improper trained or inexperienced movers..... although piano is built tough (over 22 tones of stress coming from the piano strings) it's very fragile and can be very heavy, depending on size. a little mistake and u will be screaming out from ur lungs.....

and, most piano mover will have some sort of insurance, or liablity coverage... check wif them and see... do note, you dont wanna pay the cost of repairs "hundred/thousand" times $$$ just for becoz of trying to save the little bit of $.
