Hi dhogold,

Thank for the gud question.Herewith giving u example to fix the foam into your car for effective way , simple ,easy, more creative and of coz saving RM. thumbup.gif

Foam function :-

1.Reduced / insulate heat from front engine bay.
2.Keep away nyek!nyek! sound from any assemble part / plastic in ur car.
3.Trap the sound (ice)/aircond cycle in ur car with out expensive accs.
4.Door will be smooth /tough when it open or closed.
5.Reducing noisy from outside.

For iswara :-

1pcs 10mm = front bonnet
1pcs 10mm = cabin floor
1pcs 10mm = 4door
1pcs 6mm or 10mm = spare tyre bay

For more "jitu /mantap" put Foil Strip for Marvelous result (altenative)...!!.

Hi luffy82..

Sorry for late replies but this is a good enough question and chat explanation =-

Synthetic Foam is do for what... ??? aka SuperLonThermal insulation materials are used primarily to insulate another material (or surface) to prevent or significantly reduce the thermal energy (heat) flow to preserve either hot or cold temperatures within the insulated material thus enabling energy and cost savings.

In addition, as thermal insulation is provided by covering the materials or surfaces required to be insulated with the thermal insulation materials chosen, depending on the type of insulation materials used and its application purpose, thermal insulation materials are also used to provide other secondary insulation purposes such as the following:-

to prevent condensation or frost formation on cooling systems and chilled water and refrigeration lines and thermal bridging;
acoustic, noise and vibration insulation;
shock absorption or as a cushioning material against physical or mechanical impact,
to conserve energy and costs and as a safety precautionary measure against unwanted accidents or damage;
protects items insulated from other environmental hazards such as salt water, sunlight or sunrays (ultra violet ("UV") attacks), oil and chemicals, dusts, settlement and growth of viruses, bacteria, moulds and fungi;
to withstand extremely high or low temperatures;
to provide fire resistance and a low smoke and toxic emissions in the event of fire;
to provide an aesthetic finishing look and to provide insulation without allergy or other harmful medical effects especially if used outdoors and subject to public viewing and contact; and
protects pipes from corrosion in the oil and gas and petrochemical industry.
Not all types of insulation materials can provide all of the above functions as it depends on the inherent nature or characteristics of the material whether it is suitable or not and whether such suitable material had underwent certain processes which would enhance its nature or characteristics and / or provide the material with such functions or ability required.

Bitumen Strip is do for what... ??? aka Bitumen Tape
A black bituminous compound covered by a reinforce aluminum film. It is a versatile self-adhesive tape for instant flashing applications. It is ready to apply, weatherproof, with outstanding durability and is economical.

Applications:
Protection: Asphalt, brickwork, concrete, fiber cement sheet, metal and plastic materials, roofs and covering etc.
Sealing & Waterproofing: Glass & plastic windows frames, parapets, skylight structures etc.
Repair Work: Metal and fiber cement sheet roofing, shingles, gutters and metal tube etc.

I hope u can understand what this thing can do.

Anyway.Thank u VERy - very much

Hi keii-kun,

1st question :- My superlon is need CA glue /dunlop,camel or cap ayam glue tat can get with in any h/ware shop to stick it.fOR ur information the foam with self adhesive is not to strong when u stick it.Why!bcoz it will peel off if foam was directly hit by heat from ur engine heat or sun heating. With my foam u can put as many CA glue tat u want it.more strongest , cheap and duraballity.

2nd question :- Just put the CA glue without put the bitumen strip. Why!Bcoz bitumen will be leak and sticky if u put to this near to engine heating. No need to put Bitumen to ur engine bay area.tq

Gud morning waichee86,

CA glue is needed during the sticking process but Bitumen Tape is only optional for make make the sound proof for door or rear bonnet , under seat is more solid. Most important part is Foam /Superlon and energy to DIY.hehe...but more greatest is our own SATISFACTION : )

Wira bonnet = 1pc 10mm (rm 45 ) is enough.Normally get extra after been cut.U can put under the passenger seat.Wasted to throw away.hehe

4 door = 2pcs 10mm can devide by 2 for 4 door.Bitumen ? just optional if ur want it more solid sound when open or closed the door.

Cabin Floor / Wira = 1pcs 10mm much better.

how ar, take out all the seat ar? :)gud question bro...depend ur energy or tool u have to take out the seat especially driver and co driver seat.Or just take out the back seat carpet as easy way to do without using any tool.

Btw where is ur location?

happy driving for proofing future proton

Yes waichee86,

Q: wats the use of doin flooring for our car? to absorb the noise from under / outside the car , much better aircond circulation , better bass and tweeter for who's loving sound accoustic from ICE part.

Q: how bout roof?kick off sound making by rain , heat from direct sun etc...as DIY this is only optional as need to taking out many part from screw nut and existing pvc plastic sticking on roof top.

Bought 10mm mat from seller the other day@MyDin. Used it for my open pod heatshield. DIY work! very satisfied with it.

You need to apply own glue to stick. For hot areas like engine bay, use those Dunlop glue sold at hardware shop. RM4-5 for a small bottle.

Hi mojam ,

Thanks for the question. The answer is Yes!we need to apply the glue 1st b4 stick to the metal area or plastic compartment. The foam with the 3M glue is aesy to peel off when it directly overheated directing from engine or sun.I was been used this product oso.As DIY u can put the glue very easy witin the brush.

Happy save driving

No basically you remove the plastic wheel arches,if there's any. But I think older cars don't have such thing.

Hi zizheng,

Yes!this is the way to reduced the noise while driving on h'way / normal road.Tips on it + stick the found inside the fender above the plastic cover + foam to ur engine bonnet....neeeh!Make ur driving as sleep on ur nice home bed & nice dreaming ... :)Iswara!not bad as another car oso.Bit different only how may $$$ we invest to get the car "LOGO'S" only.thanks

Added on May 20, 2008, 2:05 am
Many Thank jiash87!

Nice information and method u have.Another way to "firewall" is just stick the bitumen foil upper the inner fender metal part only.Solve 1thing problem.

Gud Morning pokju,

Bitumen : used widely for wrapping metal part to avoid rust, seal the metal, and protect the metal.

It is widely used in the protection wrapping of Cast Iron in transporting system.

It can be also used for waterproofing usuage.

Thickness: 1. 5mm-3mm.

The way we soundproofing as DIY bitumen can be more proven for solidness sound from metal part without kling, klong, esp for doors or bonnet underway carry.

It will leak after we stick it at metal part that we will never used for any car service or upgrading. That is the way "bitumen" work job

Normally used for optional as required by user itself.TQVM

opps... no need to caps ur sentences....

yeah, will leak inside door which we will never touch everyday, but the 'leaking' itself is a problem....... if it cant withstand everyday outside temperature, sooner or later, once open back the panel.... huh.gif

anyway, free bump for u. and gud luck with the sales and satisfied buyer.

i mean the total preparation involved in the project

Hi Bro

Interested in your products but don't which to buy. The Foam (10mm thick) or the Bitumen Strip. What is the difference?

Also, can quote me how much foam/tape is needed to soundproof my Perodua Myvi?

2 front doors
2 rear doors

and the price as well. TQ

Cheers.

i'll help him answer on behalf....

u can either just use bitumen to stick on the inner side of the door or use the foam installed in between of the door trim and door.

OR
use both, stick the bitumen on the inner side of the door and foam in between. for 4 door, u'll need 2 x 10mm foam + 3 roll bitumen.

Hi Buddy ,

Anyway thank for the question.Herewith attached the answer below :-

Foam / Mat = Soundproof,Heat Insulation @ Cold
Bitumen = Make metal part more tough not like "tin kosong"

Myvi soundproof qoute / estimation :-

A. 2 door front / rear = 2pcs x 10mm = RM 90
B. 3 rolls bitumen ( OPTIONAL ONLY ) = Fit to cover 4 door= RM 69

Total = RM 159

As DIY , i'm not provide the installation.Feel free to call / sms 013-3695674 /shukor for any information needed.Btw i'm at SetiaWangsa/WangsaMaju.

Million Thanks!Be save driving... thumbup.gif

Respond to ur question mention earlier....Yes!Foam/Mat can reduce atmost 70% the noise from the engine bay.Thing that u need is fix Foam/Mat to the whole bonnet engine wheither using 6mm or 10mm thickness.I can spent my time to COD if just only 1pcs for ordering.Pls let me know soonest....SAVE DRIVE!Dun't play hards as fast drive arrived brows.gif ...

Herewith attached u the the diff mat / bitumen strips :-

whats the use of the bitu roll?Bitu is based on oil/ petrol.Mass used for automotif, factory etc other uses are for waterproofing products, including the use of bitumen in the production of roofing felt and for sealing flat roofs.

If i sound proof my car floor, can block sound from engine n from road?Block mostly from road noisy generate frm tyre & air flow. For engine fix foam at front bonnet or firewall inside.

whats the effect when i soundproof the rear bonnet.? Better for car sound system & block noisy from spare tyre, tools etc.

sound proof the fender area, got effect?.Yes!depend of customer defination of hearing atmost block air flow frm tire and road.

wat is the different of the 6mm n 10 mm??? Actually the different is only the thickness of foam itself.Normally for K-CAR does fit only for 6mm thickness but for SEDAN it fit both of size.Kuantan???Via post can be arrangeable.thanx!

- Bonnet = 1pcs 10mm
- Boot (Trunk)= 1pcs 10mm
- Four door panels=2pcs 10mm
- Floor=3pcs 10mm
- Roof=1pcs 6mm
- Firewall behind the glovebox (the one you showed me in the pic)=Free of charge (FOC )Why!dun tell anyone

I would like to get some bitumen strip for the doors as well (maybe 1-2 rolls should be nice). The thing is, I don't know which thickness is suitable for which part.Foam can fix almost part unless for compact car door trim.sedan ok man!

Can you suggest me the correct thickness for various door parts, and how many mats I would need for that?AnsweR above.Btw i'm just can estimate&qoute but no forced selling.WHY!cUSTOMER IS ALWAY RIGHT TO GET THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY!

Please quote me for the price, and where to COD.

List of COD location :-

1.Petronas Tesco Ampang / MRR2
2.Giant Melawati / Gombak
3.Petronas Melati / Lrt Station
4.Shell Car4 w/maju / Car4
5.Lrt station Setiawangsa,Dato Keramat or nearby
6.Petronas Jln Jelatek 2
7.Kl Sentral

so i've met this seller...what a nice chap. showed and advise me on alot of stuff.
Got from him 3 sheets....2x10mm and 1x6mm

1x6mm i drafted my engine hood fiber thingy and pasted this 6mm layer on it and fix it back.

half of 1sheet of 10mm i pasted alongside my firewall ( outer portion)
another 1 1/2 sheet was used on my boot and boot flooring.

first thing i noticed when i closed my boot was a thud sound. not like tin kosong.

i tested some music and its definitely better. bass much tighter.

havent drove it yet coz im letting it dry first. kinda tired.

spent roughly 4 hours doing this thing.

will update once i bring it on the road for a spin.

next project will be the doors. that is after i learn how to open it nicely and fit it back.

bro i might need more biggrin.gif

Added on November 1, 2008, 4:32 pmUPDATE!!!!

just took the car for a spin

one thing that is really obvious is that my engine sound has been greatly reduced..now i just hear a hum than the engine itself

rear bonnet cant hear absorber sound when i go above bumps...awesome stuff! my music has been improved slightly tho...bass is tighter. if i do my door i think music will be alot more better on the highs.

i will definitely get more for the door. bro u cant help me do the door stuff ah..maybe i can pay u or something?

I just traded a whole bunch of mats and two rolls of bitumen with him earlier today (err, i meant yesterdan, almost 2am haha).

Spend almost an hour giving me tips and advice and ideas. What a nice chap!

I've done sticking the foam on the door panel earlier, gonna start with the bitumen tomorrow once the sun is up!

i follow his advise on firewall portion

just unscrew the horn, some metal hose bla bla bla and put glue at that area.

i then inserted the foam and pressed it along the firewall. I covered most area except for my break pump area. Dont dare to remove it laugh.gif

im driving a waja

Added on November 2, 2008, 5:48 pmbtw i was reading some thread on the internet in regards to a type of spray that spray's foam. there are 2 types...one is for hard stuff another one is for glass.

I've completed DIYing my door and door trim, along with my engine hood and trunk.

So far the road noise, wind noise (the wooosh sounds during driving) is almost completely eliminated. Doors also shut with a nice "Thud" (rather than the milo can sound).

Very happy with the result. Now the next challenge is to reduce the engine and exhaust sound!

Just COD with this guy, very friendly guy and easy to talk to.

Before even I bought his Soundproofing foam, He already teach me all the things that I needed to D.I.Y. From the Equipments used to multiple ways of assembling that part.

It's really good to turn your car from Tin kosong to something better, try it out.

Cheers.

erm..
need input from all.. lets share knowledge here..

any suggestion on CA to be use? i always use dunlop glue (work perfect!),
but the problem is its smell.. imagine if u glued all 4 doors, whole floor and whole roof.. i think its take more than 1 month to get rid of the smell (even drive with all 4 windows wide open.. hehehe.. (free high there!!!)

any comment? tips or trick?

Foam function :-

1.Reduced / insulate heat from front engine bay.
2.Keep away nyek!nyek! sound from any assemble part / plastic in ur car.
3.Trap the sound (ice)/aircond cycle in ur car with out expensive accs.
4.Door will be smooth /tough when it open or closed.
5.Reducing noisy from outside.

my car has those nyek nyek sound whenever on rough surface or go over bumps.

usually these sound came out from where??

also, whenever raining. my car roof can hear rain sounds too.

if this foam helps, i'm interested to buy from u.

need advice from you, pm me ya.

Just bought from this seller one big roll 6mm..its big and cannot carry with bike..huhu..i thought small ja..

btw..already attach this sound proof at my front hood and 2 front door..the effect still not really gud..i think i try put 2 layer on hood n door..maybe its better...

well for beginner like me..it take half day to install the soundproof at three different part...huhuhu

next week gonna do 2 rear door and rear bonet oso...

i guess for my car (which is old)...better 2 layer 6mm or one layer 10mm soundproof since its old and the rubber part on the car is not flexible enough..

ill try 2 layer then ill give more feedback... cool.gif

nice seller oso coz still wait for me 1/2 hour when im late..huhuhu

im done all 4 doors with 2 layer of 6mm soundproof...quite ok..not much noise heard..

after done this soundproofing at doors i think its not enough...the sound at floor and roof very irritating..maybe next week when i got time ill do floor plak..hehe..

p/s: for easy installation..use 10mm one..save time oso..i just bought 6mm one big roll..cannot return it back..lol..will use it till finish my artwork !
