Let me tell you this , you are better off with Celcom. Trust me , Celcom is far better. Unless you live in a maxis area then go for maxis. keep in mind that they block many funny stuff like p2p , ares and other stuff. not recommended if you are a p2per

I Personally Don't care if my speed is slow. I just want the ports to be unblocked. At the moment i am quite happy as VPN works. For me , I personally don't really bother about speed. Give me more then 256Kbps and i am happy and just make sure you dont block some of the ports that I use and i am set !

You'll have to pay for VPN Services. Its not free. i use it to access some stuff from my workplace and other things. Its for my personal use only. Its not meant for p2ping or other stuff. i've tested BolehVPN last time but unfortunately maxis blocks it or something like that
Dude , this is HSDPA/UMTS. Your speed will not be CONSISTENT. Empathise on that. sometimes it can be super good and other times it can be bad. If you do want to learn more , i have a couple of documents. you should read them. You can get it from me. I'll upload it , its around 10mb or so.

But I am happy as i am able to play some online games without super duper crazy latency. Speed is bad here also. but personally I dont mind digi , you should read this. It gives you an in-depth information on why UMTS/HSPDA sorta sucks http://www.s3.kth.se/~kallej/grad_students...zi_thesis07.pdfsuperb thesi. You should read it anyway

Yes , if you cant connect at all. There is a high chance that maxis has cut your line. They do that. Bear in mind , they'll charge you RM 10 for re-activation fee !

When I say that , I mean that to unblock that port , meaning that i can get full connectivity from that particular port. Its openvpn port anyways. You can't do much. Dont expect to use that port to torrent as it wouldn't work. now vpn is back to slow

Anyway , I've just opened the ZTE Modem. I'll post pictures. Well its using a QualCom chipset which supports up to 7.2Mbps. So later , maxis may provide firmware upgrade to ZTE Owners to support speeds up to 7.2Mbps

Oh My God , after some tweaking , relocating and more tweaking + installing a heatsink to the ZTE Modem ! Look at the latency ! . It has been reduced from 200-300ms to merly 150ms++. Now i'll have to test with some games.

Due to the fact that Maxis cybertroopers are out here. I'll not be revealing all the details
You'll have to open your ZTE MF600 modem. I have installed couple of heatsinks inside the modem itself. One on the qualcom wireless chipset (it gets too hot) and other one on the ARM processor. After installing both of the heatsinks , i've found out the modem runs cooler. Hence better performance. Of course i am using a reflector too to increase the reception
Nextly , i'll install a fan as well to cool it down even further. I don't think i'll be needing that battery

QUOTE(movanns @ Jun 6 2008, 08:30 PM) I got this for my Advance package (640k). I live nearby Bukit Jalil, behind MIMOS (TPM)..Is the result normal for this place? Can't even open my you tube. Plus, it alwiz disconnected if i left my PC for some time. Using ZTE MF600 Better use JARING Wireless then this crapband maxis. Its not even worth it. JARING is much more better and at least you dont have to worry about maxis' un-fair usage policy at all

Honestly its worth it if you ask me personally. I am an ex-JARING WBB user. The reason why I stopped the service is mainly because i am out of coverage and it is harder for me to get the signal (since there are lots of developments in KL Area). Overall, I've had no funny issues like this crappy Maxis Broadband. Honestly , they should be marketing their broadband as "Maxis Restrictive Broadband - Its just the same as your corp. firewall"

QUOTE(cracksys @ Jun 7 2008, 11:34 AM) em,worth is not an option for financially-stressed person as i am .. you still on maxis bb rite bro ? any tips on getting more pleasurable surfing experience using maxis bb ? morning was a breeze but night before midnite was a nightmarish surfing experience.. i've applied TCPOptimizer but haven't see any improvement yet Well , it seems to be worth it at a glance. But at what cost ?. Port blocking ? Unable to p2p ?. I am willing to tolerate if they block the ports and allow p2p traffic till we reach 20GB or our limit. Then they have the rights to block and cap our bandwidth. But this is insane , they block the ports (fine) , and they impose a 20GB limit. It seems to be a joke. Oh yes i am still on this maxis bb , i'll switch back to streamyx once my phone line case has been settled by TM. This is the worst broadband ever. I think I should have opt'ed for Celcom instead of Maxis in the first place. Its just that their crappy promotion seems to be too good. Heck the agent event told me that p2p wasn't blocked (at that upon of time) and I saw in front of my eyes that it can reach 100-200kilobytes/sec and online gaming wasn't a problem back then. But now things have changed. Its just nice for surfing the web , thats bout it.

No , not to stir mood or so. You may want to relocate your modem. Keep an eye on your signal. If your RSSI is around -60 or better yet -58. That means your signal is superb and by right you should get good speeds. I am just expressing it out. In terms of price ratio its not worth it. But if you don't have other choices
I would be posting screenshots or some of my heatsink installation and other things

Well you may want to use this DNS address :- http://andywls.blogspot.com/2007/08/maxis-...sconnected.htmlRead more , it does "fix" the disconnection issue Primary DNS: 202.75.129.101 Alternate DNS: 202.75.129.102

You may change it in the crappy ZTE Router or in network properties. Its better to change it in the modem itself
Like i've said. Maxis blocks pretty much everything. Next they might even block Yahoo! messenger

They will entertain your request. They'll say that Xunlei is a p2p program and hence you are unable to download anything. Don't worry they have patched it up. enjoy your unlimited surfing !
