How the performance would be if I'm hook-up the ZTE MF600 modem to my current D-Link wireless router switch & share it with 2 - 3 user at one time ?

I plan to do ICS as we are only use it for surfing purpose only. OR better to take the USB modem & buy a DIR412 or HW550.

THaNKs... : D

Both the DIR-412 and HW550-3G can handle loads pretty well in my opinion. I have around 3-4 computers accessing the internet via the router and we get pretty good response.

And it is still popular out there hehehe... I think it is a very 'hackable' device...

hmmm, wat is the point? It is not originally design to be.

Hacking mean not tested by the manufacturer although it would work. Kinda like use it at your own risk. If can choose, better dun hack ler unless there are *extra* after hacked. Anything *extra* after hacked?

I believe it is some sort of a custom thing in the underground scenes. Which is why I said it is 'hackable' and not indicating you can hack the modem to hack the network or something biggrin.gif . I'm not very sure myself but it seems to be popular. I mean E220 has been around like forever? And its still here today. I can see E1762 going the same road too.

Don't think so bro. Maybe upgrade the software algorithm to enable higher speed like how it did from 3.6 to 7.2. I'll try to find out more about the tweaks those underground guys are doing. Maybe can shed some light into the topic.

My company blocks too. But that why we get 3G modems thumbup.gif

I'm able to configure my browser to only use that 3G connection to limit exposure. So if I hit any websites or things that are blocked internally, I'll just take out my 3G modem. Of course, you do it discreetly. tongue.gif

I'm using Firefox. Go to Tools > Options > Network Tab > Settings > Set to No Proxy. Most companies uses a proxy server and they manage internal computer's access to the outside world. So you set to No Proxy so that it will just use whatever that is connected to the PC.

But I seem to have a problem using this method because my company mail will stop coming. I tried setting the outlook to use IE's proxy settings, still no go. It seems to be confused when Maxis Broadband is connected. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Strange, it worked for me. Try a check one by one (settings for each browser) and which one is the default.

Damn maxis, the 130Kbps is really low after capped. You have to remember that you start from 7200Kbps and you get capped till this low after exceeded only little bit after 1.5GB (1.73Gb right?)
So, effectively, you are paying RM48 for 130Kbps per month which the worst i suspected has happened.

I think they would not dare to do that. 130kbps (kilobits per second) is already slow.

It is about 130/8 = 16.83KB (kilo byte) per second like what your download speed is . Can still surf net and check mail lar but got other more attractive packages like U-Mobile RM68 for 5GB data volume and 384 Kbps after cap which is double the speed of 130Kbps. Or better, Wimax 5GB capped size with 400 kbps after capped which only cost RM49 per month.

I guess Maxis 7.2 Mbps big hooha is just a gimmick and not so much different than other operator.

for me, as long as the connection is stable, i dun mind they throttle my speed to 128kpbs.
no use hving the speed at 384kpbs or 400kpbs but cant surf the net at all.
