For those who still fail to send mms.. dont give up. Actually i also having problem before on sending a mms via SwirlyMMS.
But, after few weeks, just now i am succesfully sending my first mms from my iphone. This is the trick (is it a trick?), i am maxis user and i never upgrade my simcard to have a 3g function. Fyi, I am using SwirlyMMS 0.3.8. In SwirlyMMS, on setting.. Wrote this.. : APN: unet APN name: maxis APN password: wap WAP gateway: 202.75.133.49 MMSC: http://172.16.74.100:10021/mmsc AND at iphone Setting, still the same : APN : unet UserName : Maxis Passwrd : wap Just for your info, while i get these setting correct.. the 'M' Symbol beside battery Icon will turn GREEN instead of usual YELLOW/BROWN. I am not so good at this, but my iphone succesfully sending MMS through this method. Heh. Happy trying.. |

just to share something with you guys.
for maxis users, if your 3g service is active (applicable to most contract users and a very handful hotlink users), opt for unet. on the other hand, if its inactive, use net instead. to check on your status, its easy. just ring up the maxis operator. out-of-the-box hotlink sim cards can only support up to 2.5G (edge) whilst the new (or those who updated their sim card recently) will have the latest 3g sim cards. on the other hand, these descriptions can be quite useless at times i have to say. i have tried numerous times with different sets of combination for example mexis, x y x y, la la la or leaving them blank, but somehow miraculously i can still surf the net via gprs or edge. bosspref is still the best 3rd app available right now. of course hsdpa, 3g, edge, gprs and wap are merely indications and doesnt necessarily guarantee the advertised speeds. they depend a lot on the network (of course) and the signal strength. hence your mobile phone might be showing a '3g' icon but you can end up with a speed worse than a gprs connection. this can also be used to explain why digi's edge is far more superior than maxis'. disclaimer: nokia2003 aka BlackBerryBloke is on the maxis postpaid network and is in no way connected to any of the telecommunication providers. unfortunately, maxis dun have unlimited edge plan, but by the way, if applying for 3g unlimited, it will use edge also right, maybe can make it unlimited.?
i dun want to use edge since i am a 5 years maxis customer, and all my friends also use maxis, P/s: i still use maxis eventhough the service suc*s at my village..sob sob, when they will put more tower, i dun know..... |

well, even if your phone is non-3g, its best to use 3g setting instead of the WAP setting. i am not sure why, but last time i try set using WAP setting on a non-3g phone, and cannot connect but when use 3g setting.. it can surf the web.

QUOTE(TakanoKyohei @ Jun 30 2008, 05:20 PM) unfortunately, maxis dun have unlimited edge plan, but by the way, if applying for 3g unlimited, it will use edge also right, maybe can make it unlimited.? doesnt matter, the unlimited plan here simply mean unlimited data usage irrespective of the connection type.i dun want to use edge since i am a 5 years maxis customer, and all my friends also use maxis, P/s: i still use maxis eventhough the service suc*s at my village..sob sob, when they will put more tower, i dun know..... i will quote an example to support my claim. lets say you are currently using a hsdpa phone with the maxis unlimited plan data and you are using 3g/hsdpa just fine around the major city area and suddenly you end up at a kampung area where the fastest speed that they can support is merely gprs.furthermore, there is no difference to the price that you are being charged since most telco providers charge per mb of data anyway. but for digi yes, even with a hsdpa phone, the highest speed that you can get is edge. that probably explains why digi's unlimited data plan is way cheaper than its close rivals. |

agree with the statement above.
i once filed a complain to maxis for unlimited data package (i sengaja wan) bcoz it keeps on using gprs instead of 3g. then the maxis people called me up and clarify the situation above. if i am not mistaken there 2 type of connection plans, one for hsdpa(1.8mbps) and on is for 3g(384kbps)... |

QUOTE(Seaedge @ Jun 30 2008, 07:48 PM) agree with the statement above. well i just checked the maxis website; there is one type of unlimited data plan regardless of the connection type; rm99 (exclusive tax) per month.i once filed a complain to maxis for unlimited data package (i sengaja wan) bcoz it keeps on using gprs instead of 3g. then the maxis people called me up and clarify the situation above. if i am not mistaken there 2 type of connection plans, one for hsdpa(1.8mbps) and on is for 3g(384kbps)... i believe the so-called split connection types that you have mentioned, is only being offered by celcom (not maxis) This post has been edited by nokia2003: Jun 30 2008, 11:38 PM |

QUOTE(VIPER808 @ Dec 3 2008, 02:11 AM) maybe this is a dumb question but i really want to know if there is a way to set mms on my 3g iphone? I'll have to agree with you. It is a dumb question considering you actually posted the question in an mms thread. Anyways, yes you can get MMS for your iPhone but it requires jailbreaking and installing a third party application which you will have to pay for after a free trial session. 1. Pwnagetool 2.2 & Quickpwn (Mac & Win) Thread <<< Go to this thread if you haven't jailbroken your phone or need to know how to do it. 2. Once you've jailbroken, you can search for the "SwirlyMMS" application on Cydia from your iPhone. 3. Get your mms settings by referring to item #6 on the iPhone for Dummies thread. I hope you'll be able to find your way around. Do take the time to read all the pinned threads if you haven't already. It will help you understand all the basics you need to know about your phone and guide you to get the best out of the iPhone forums. Cheers. do you need an internet connection to send an mms? I can't seem to get it to work.
This is the text that pops out: Operation failed. (101, 'Network is unreachable') Please check your settings. I've set it according to what you guys posted above.. even called maxis... i don't think he even knows how the menu and setup is like on my n900. anyone can share their ideas? |

i'm using the n900 and i downloaded the app fMMS.
it seems that the maxis already sent the configurations for my phone and when i check the settings, it is set in default all the settings that is mentioned in previous posts... Added on October 24, 2010, 7:17 pmI tried updating my n900 with the mms settings in the maxis website http://www.maxis.com.my/phonesettings/index.asp and i followed the steps and it all went well UNTIL they sent a message "Cellular access point not updated. Current settings similar to orignal settings" and then I tried to use fMMS. didn't work This post has been edited by Dark_Angel85: Oct 24 2010, 07:17 PM |
