i think jive talk is much better than meebo! much more features and look nicer.

WeDict can download from the installer.app (under productivity) noneed to add installer source, just update your comunity source to 3.7 if you dont see it.

To add sources manually.
open installer.app
click sources (the last icon at the bottom right)
click edit (top right)
click add (top add)
key in the http link (you can get the list of sources from www.appleiphoneschool.com)
refresh your sources
done!!

yup, BeeJive is also much faster than Meebo. also can be used on GPRS without much problem.

Not really suitable for parking in malaysia lor.. cause our parking is like

3 = 3rd Floor
D13 = Parking Lot

The app only can input the parking lot = D13, one alpha two numeric

if only they had another one to indicate which floor... meantime ill stick too the stock notepad

Well, you can adjust it by your self. It may not be accurate 100% as the one released by the Muslim Council, but the difference will not be much. This simply surf as a reminder so when the adzan pop out then you should leave your current work and go sembahyang bro,

nah, it's ok to ask here than wondering aimlessly.hehe

urm about that error, u will only get it if u did not restart ur iphone after each installation. each time after u install a program u have u restart ur iphone. then u can install the next program. kinda tedious but u will get a hang of it 1 day..

I just got my iphone and i have some noob questions:

1. The calendar function cannot work. I cannot input any reminder into it? Is it suppose to be like this? Only can input stuff via outlook and sync it?
2. The stocks function I cannot choose KLSE stocks, I use the search function of it, I think only can find stocks listed in the US. How to set it to check KL or SG stocks?
3. The weather report also same, can only look for city inside US. How to set it to update weather in Malaysia or other parts of the world?
4. What is the recommended ebook viewer to install?
5. When I turn off my wifi, bluetooth and edge using bosspref, there is still a squarish "E" sign beside "mymaxis" sign. So is my edge really turned off?
6. I downloaded weDict, but when i input words to search for meaning, it always says "not found". How come?
7. What is the use of the icon "Squid"? It looks like a list of folders when i click it. Can I uninstall it?
8. Is there anyway to import message from my sim card to Iphone?

well...i can answer no 6 only... weDict is the reader...u need some dictionary. try go to dictionaries and download ...

3. You can change the weather. when you open it, on the bottom right hand corner, there is the "I" button. Click that. Then you can edit which city weather you want to add or remove. I can find Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Cyberjaya.

9. It can take using third party app. There's an app called ShowTime that can record video. Free version can only record up to 5 seconds a clip. If want longer clip, need to pay

BTW ... did u tried to find the answers first yourself and failed or u just want to be spoon-fed since most of this question are general. Not like I'm trying to flame u or what but seems like alot of forumers here like to use the "Noob" status to get easy answers to an easy questions without doing their research first. Not that I don't encourage asking questions (heck i help lots of others also) but lately the same,repetitious and basic questions are being asked in here. If there is 1K (by a long shot) of new iPhone users ask the same question here ... then no wonder the thread reached V6 in no time at all (and now V7 is imminent). This is an indication for a FAQ, HOWTO and other guides to be stikied (is there such a word ). Maybe I'll give it a shot in doing some guide if I have the time.

No harm intended for all "Noobs". Do ask questions and we'll try to answer them (as long as its not an easy one i.e. why my other speaker at the bottom is not functioning ... then u deserve a smack down )

hey guys.... it seems that i can't install customize on my 1.14 from the installer.... it says that this application is only for version 1.1(1/2/3).... is it true that 1.14 doesn't support Customize?

Yeah, it can't be used on 1.1.4 yet cos I can't use it on my mum's new iPhone too. He is working on it though. I check once in awhile but so far nothing as yet.

After 2 days of playing around with Iphone 1.1.4 I finally manage to get an idea on how Iphone works. The installing software part through the installer icon is kinda cool. I list down a few installers I found useful:

1. SMSD - sms software that breaks down ur sms into inbox and sent and enables you to forward or reply to a particular sms. Pretty much a standard sms funciton on normal phones.
2. iLog - It's like the call register function on Nokia. It breaks down ur missed calls, received calls and dialled numbers. And you are able to add contact from this software of the numbers u never added to contact (from those you dialled or those numbers called you). I think it's one of the best call options software around but its a trial version that prompts you to buy it everytime you click it. Just have to click cancel everytime before you can access the call logs. Anyone can share the key for iLog with me?
3. Camera Pro - camera function. Used this rather than default camera cause this got extra function of digital zoom. Any recommendation of better camera software out there?
4. Navizon - I tried using this. Don't see how it is better than Maps except it can auto locate to the position where I'm at. If purpose is just for looking at maps, then I'd say Maps is better. Somehow in navizon when i try to scroll to look at other parts of KL, it often returns back to the position of where I am in the map, rendering me cannot stay still and look at maps of other parts for long duration.
5. Bossprefs - to turn on and off my wifi and to keep edge and gprs permanently off. Hehe
6. Squid - Like the previous sifu said, windows explorer look alike to view folder and files in iphone but cannot modify or delete files
7. Mobile finder - able to modify and delete files but only to var/mobile folder i think
8. Books - ebooks viewer to view ebooks
9. WeDict - i installed britanica concise, longman, merriam-webster and thesaurus-ee. Nice dictionary function
10. Sketches - well, just fo sketches and fun
11. iPhysics - like sketches, but i think sketches is better.
12. Mxtube - still haven't tried if it really can download video from utube

5. iGiggle - finally found out how it works, haha.

7. SNES4iphone - I downloaded the rom package. Quite interesting but very hard to play with onscreen keys as it blocks part of the game screen.

I still cannot get wespot. I added appleiphoneschool and http://app.weiphone.com/installer/ also to the source but both are recognised as uncategorised. Then when i go to install tab, I cannot find any wespot. I manage to find wespot fr from sosiphone repo. But the language is french. I even looked under all packages still can only find wespot fr. Can anyone tell me the specific steps?


I got the SNES. Is that the same? I think NES cannot run on 1.1.4 rite? 1.1.4 only support SNES. Please verify. Also, under uninstall menu, I can uninstall the rom package, but I cannot find the entry to uninstall SNES emulator. Can teach me how to uninstall that?

More Questions:
I cannot uninstall the default camera and sms software. Anyway to uninstall those as I found 3rd party software better?
Any unlimitted video software? Showtime can only shoot video for 5 secs and without sound being recorded. I want something like what phone can do, take videos with sound without time limit.

NES is different from SNES. NES is basically the classic old Nintendo games (maybe 15 years ago), while SNES is the newer Super Nintendo games. It works on 1.1.4 as I'm using it also.

1. ibirthday. -can keep track of birthday dates in ur contacts.it will help u notify when the birthday comes.
2.mapssoffline - u install this program and just let it be.the effect is,it will automatically saves the maps that u viewed.later on,u don't need wifi connection to view the maps again.

yes u need to have a wifi connection in order to download the applications from the installer..... it's just that simple..... haha...

or u just get an unlimited data plan like from digi (cost RM66 per month) and download anytime and anywhere u want. Don't have to be constraint to wifi only. Just a suggestion.
