I just got my iphone and i have some noob questions:

1. The calendar function cannot work. I cannot input any reminder into it? Is it suppose to be like this? Only can input stuff via outlook and sync it?
2. The stocks function I cannot choose KLSE stocks, I use the search function of it, I think only can find stocks listed in the US. How to set it to check KL or SG stocks?
3. The weather report also same, can only look for city inside US. How to set it to update weather in Malaysia or other parts of the world?
4. What is the recommended ebook viewer to install?
5. When I turn off my wifi, bluetooth and edge using bosspref, there is still a squarish "E" sign beside "mymaxis" sign. So is my edge really turned off?
6. I downloaded weDict, but when i input words to search for meaning, it always says "not found". How come?
7. What is the use of the icon "Squid"? It looks like a list of folders when i click it. Can I uninstall it?
8. Is there anyway to import message from my sim card to Iphone?
9. Can Iphone take videos using its camera? So far I can only take pictures.

After 2 days of playing around with Iphone 1.1.4 I finally manage to get an idea on how Iphone works. The installing software part through the installer icon is kinda cool. I list down a few installers I found useful:

1. SMSD - sms software that breaks down ur sms into inbox and sent and enables you to forward or reply to a particular sms. Pretty much a standard sms funciton on normal phones.
2. iLog - It's like the call register function on Nokia. It breaks down ur missed calls, received calls and dialled numbers. And you are able to add contact from this software of the numbers u never added to contact (from those you dialled or those numbers called you). I think it's one of the best call options software around but its a trial version that prompts you to buy it everytime you click it. Just have to click cancel everytime before you can access the call logs. Anyone can share the key for iLog with me?
3. Camera Pro - camera function. Used this rather than default camera cause this got extra function of digital zoom. Any recommendation of better camera software out there?
4. Navizon - I tried using this. Don't see how it is better than Maps except it can auto locate to the position where I'm at. If purpose is just for looking at maps, then I'd say Maps is better. Somehow in navizon when i try to scroll to look at other parts of KL, it often returns back to the position of where I am in the map, rendering me cannot stay still and look at maps of other parts for long duration.
5. Bossprefs - to turn on and off my wifi and to keep edge and gprs permanently off. Hehe
6. Squid - Like the previous sifu said, windows explorer look alike to view folder and files in iphone but cannot modify or delete files
7. Mobile finder - able to modify and delete files but only to var/mobile folder i think
8. Books - ebooks viewer to view ebooks
9. WeDict - i installed britanica concise, longman, merriam-webster and thesaurus-ee. Nice dictionary function
10. Sketches - well, just fo sketches and fun
11. iPhysics - like sketches, but i think sketches is better.
12. Mxtube - still haven't tried if it really can download video from utube

Games:
1. Tris
2. Domino
3. iSolitaire
4. Chess
5. iGiggle - finally found out how it works, haha.
6. Ants
7. SNES4iphone - I downloaded the rom package. Quite interesting but very hard to play with onscreen keys as it blocks part of the game screen.

Questions:




I still cannot get wespot. I added appleiphoneschool and http://app.weiphone.com/installer/ also to the source but both are recognised as uncategorised. Then when i go to install tab, I cannot find any wespot. I manage to find wespot fr from sosiphone repo. But the language is french. I even looked under all packages still can only find wespot fr. Can anyone tell me the specific steps?


I got the SNES. Is that the same? I think NES cannot run on 1.1.4 rite? 1.1.4 only support SNES. Please verify. Also, under uninstall menu, I can uninstall the rom package, but I cannot find the entry to uninstall SNES emulator. Can teach me how to uninstall that?

More Questions:
I cannot uninstall the default camera and sms software. Anyway to uninstall those as I found 3rd party software better?
Any unlimitted video software? Showtime can only shoot video for 5 secs and without sound being recorded. I want something like what phone can do, take videos with sound without time limit.

OK, 4 nights with Iphone. It's a nice phone. MXTUBE very good to download u-tube videos.

Anyone got key for Ilog and CameraPro? Much appreciate if can share.

Also, SNES quite hard to play since the keypads is on the game screen itself. When i press the keys, I cannot see my character in the game.

Want to ask what you guys do with the itunes icon. I go there seems like everything need to pay. So is there any use of the itunes icon at all?
Can I uninstall itunes, text (default sms software), and camera (default sms software)?

Waht is the battery life of Iphone. I have to charge it every night.

Just slide your finger across from left to right for the file you want to delete and a delete button will appear.

OK, update again after one week using Iphone.

Must have softwares:
1. Summerboard (to change themes)
2. Bossprefs (to set access such as wifi, edge, ssh, bluetooth, email of iphone)
3. Ilog cracked version (I use it only as a call log cause it divides up my calls into missed, received and dialed calls and also records the duration of each calls)
4. SMSD (I use this as my sms client cause it divides my sms into ibox and sent folders, has the search function and this client enables me to forward sms)
5. Camera Pro cracked version (camera software that can zoom, set timer, burst option, take grayscale pictures and a few other minor tricks)
6. Showtime cracked version (video software to capture video, can record video with reasonable quality and based on ur drive capacity. But cannot record voice with video, any other video software can capture video and sound together?)
7. MXTube (record youtube videos and able to view it anytime even without wifi connection, very cool software, I stocked up my iphone with close to 4GB of youtube videos already, haha)
8. Money (to track expenses)
9. Stocks (to track my KLSE and SGX stocks)
10. WeDict (used for dictionary purposes)
11. Books (used to read the ebooks I downloaded)
12. Mobile Finder (to modify files in Iphone)
13. Maps (I never used gps before and although this is not gps but loading maps seems cool to me, haha. I used Navizon, but don't see the extra benefit of it over maps. It can only locate me in major cities)
14. Sketches (drawing software that is cool, cause you can take pictures and draw sketches on it)

Recommended Games:
1. Parking Lot (very challenging game)
2. Wespot (nice games for all to enjoy, not just the phone user)
3. SNES4iphone (play nintendo games on iphone)
4. Igiggle (just a cool software to showcase the accelerometer function)
5. Ants (cool mod to iphone interface, make use of accelerometer as well)
6. Tris, iSolitaire, Chess, Dominoes (classic games)

Highly recommend to install openSSH and BSD system to your iphone. Then install winscp at your windows PC to gain access to your iphone to mods lots of stuffs.

Earlier I posted bout my Iphone experience. Was at 1.1.4. Now I upgraded it to 2.1 and found out that it's well worth it the upgrade. Now my I-phone works fine with my I-Home docking station. No more constant sound of battery recharging and the apps is simply amazing. Nuff words, let pics do the talking.
