I am driving Chevy Optra 5 1.8, bought in 2007. So far, no complains except for 2nd hand value is not good. What is the price range if I sell it now?

Nope, spare parts is not an issue. Same goes for maintenance cost, usually about RM100 - RM200 about the same range as Civic/Altis.

Timing belt u can get for rm350 dayco brand from forumer airline. Comes with bearings and seals.....then u need to change v-belt as well....that one forgot how much....lastly, water pump is optional but recommended at 60k kms.....rm500 is cheap but please ask what items he change....if u bring ur parts in labour would be around rm150-200.

Sounds like ur RCV valve is kong already....same thing happened to mine....but my optra sold already last mth... tongue.gif

Most air-con shop ask to change compressor....but u must find someone to dismantle and change the valve....

Need some advice here.

I brought my chevrolet optra 1.8 to Cergazam, the service centre in JB.

These are the problems they listed out:
1) timing belt need to change - cost 2.5k
2) wiring - cost 1k+ (cos hold light blinking and car not moving)

Can someone recommend workshop in JB/SG/KL that's reliable and cheap, of cos?
Service centre pricing is freaking me out.

Please help.

Here, hope it helps

1) timing belt need to change - Makesure change fullset belt & bearings/vbelt/water pump...all will cost u around 1.2-1.5k at shared auto glenmarie
2) wiring - cost 1k+ (cos hold light blinking and car not moving)....hold light blinking - SPSS sensor (common problem)....about rm300-400 to replace

Recommended workshops in KL = PJ Volcar/Shared Auto glenmarie

Thanks.

Hold light is not blinking anymore. Just during that moment it blinked, the car cant move, is like "D" but in "N" status. Is that SPSS sensor problem or wiring problem?

btw, the wiring issue
some times i could be due to bad or dirty contact
if that is the case, cleaning and checking the connection could fix the issue
but SC normally has the "if it ain't working, change it" mentality
as for the water pump, if you mileage is very low (like 30k km in 3 years), you might want to change it at the next service
it is all up to you
the pump cost about 400 and the reason ppl recommend changing it with timing belt is to save on the labour as it requires similar amount of work to reach the timing belt

hi all,
I m new to this thread, just got to know there is an optra thread at this forum, i own an optra 1.8, but going to sell off soon, hehe... happy driving and good luck to all optra over here, cheers. Got a photo of my beloved chevy just for sharing smile.gif

Engine oil : i have been using fully synthetic from day 1 i took my car, because can last for 10K before next service, but semi synthetic also will be good enough, so far i have not heard anyone usingnon synthetic.
