Hi all the Optra fans here!
Gong Xi Fa Chai!! Needs advice/opinion and guides on Chevrolet Optra. Im totally new to this car so helps are much much appreciated here. Im planning to get my dad a car, either Hyundai Elantra or Chevrolet Optra since my budget is around 25k-35k. Was searching around and gotta know theres few variants are available in market. Abit confusing with LS. LT and Magnum version?? Can someone explains on this? Thanks!! Besides, which one is better between 1.6 and 1.8? Was told 1.6 parts are easier to find due to 1.8cc parts are more complicated, hence higher maintainance costs in 1.8?? Also, some experiences about maintainance costs are much appreciated too. Thanks in advance and appreciates the times u spent to reply me here. Take care |

hi peeps... I have a question. I feel that my Chevy Optra fuel gauge is having a problem, it's not accurate at all. May I know what's the problem? Have you guys experienced that before.
Plus, my Chevy was running out of water the other day. The temperature went up and air con turned hot. After I refilled it with water, it works fine now. Just the fuel gauge, which is not accurate, sometime goes up and goes down within the range of 1/4 tank-ish. |

QUOTE(ajay @ Mar 10 2011, 05:27 PM) i need a thorough diagnostic scan because it's not just the meter problem. Sometime it gets overheat real quick. Let me abridge what was going on. On a Friday evening, I was rushing to send someone to catch a plane. I drove real quick along the highway. This may expedite the water consumption. The next day, Saturday morning, it was overheated due to no water. Luckily I managed to fill it up with water from the neighborhood and it worked out fine. I went to a car workshop rightaway just to solve the problem. The technician told me it's all right after looking at the underneath of my car. He said no water leakage. Perhaps, I may modify to eliminate the HOT-AIR system in my car as I am not going to use it forever. I thought everything is perfect then. Sunday outing was great and car worked perfectly. Monday, when I was driving to work. My car temperature shot up again. I quickly went to my friend's house nearby and asked him to drop me off. Luckily he was still at home. After work, I checked my car, the water tank is not totally empty. It has like 50% of water inside. Just the metal thing shows up above the water level and make it boiling I guess. Tuesday, Wednesday... I tested it. The car fuel gauge aka fuel meter is so fluctuate. Today, I didn't drive the car at all. Any car workshop recommended? Any problem with my car? I always spare some water in my car now, just to prevent it from getting overheated again. Added on March 11, 2011, 5:33 pmAny workshop recommended? My car needs for a service. Hi all, I just bought a 2nd Optra 1.8 LT in KL. Bought it for RM27K, the car is made in 2004. Last few days found out the problem of gearbox, when turning R from N, it get stuck. Although stepping the brake, it cannot be work. Then send to SC, then realized is the brake switch problem, after changed, it back to normal.
But now, i have other problem with the handbrake light on the meter, it won't be on while I had pull my handbrake. Then where can I the car condition, because I had no idea whether the car had changed the timing belt or not. Even the car seller also had no idea on it. So, where can I check? Now the mileage is around 96k. Please advice.. Added on March 29, 2011, 10:08 amNow, all my other problems had been solved by PJ Volcar, only small problem with the gearbox. Suspected the gearbox oil, filter haven't been changed. It will keep on auto change low and high gear on a highspeed. Trying to change the gearbox oil, c whether it will be better or not.
