Osram NB short lifespan?
my Osram CoolBlue is already 2years old.
maybe coz not so bright as NB?

install the HID in your fog lamp, not the headlamp.
yeap, only Osram NB and Philips Xtreme have shorter lifespan due to their increased light output. In fact, on the NB cover, it is stated clearly that the lifespan is about 50% of normal bulbs.

bro, install HID on foglamp is not a good solution. It will cause similar or worse effect as I mentioned on my previous post. In fact, if you notice, no car manufacturers put HIDs on fogs as OEM or factory option.

Any idea why the auto gearbox spoils easily after few years for this beast?
*
i like the way you call it a beast rclxms.gif

i would say the gearbox fails prematurely mainly due to heat and lack of maintenance. install an oil cooler for the ATF if it doesn't come with one and make sure the ATF is changed every 20k kms and the filter every 40k kms.

last but not least i think the right foot plays a major role as well, if you're constantly mashing the gas at every opportunity then additional heat will be generated unnecessarily on the gearbox. relax and treat the gas pedal gently, let the speed build up gradually. try to travel at non peak hours so as not to get stuck in traffic jams and try not to take it up to Genting so often... laugh.gif

i love my "beast" alot and i hope he will be trouble free for many more miles to come blush.gif

i'm thinking of getting a new set of wheels for him...i'd like to keep it comfortable so i'm keeping it at 16 inches...any ideas what sort of wheels suit this "beast"? he's metallic black in color... laugh.gif

any1 used for the 90/100w headlamp bulb?
*
not advisable...1st you need a relay to run the higher power bulbs...then you also need to change the bulb sockets to ceramic ones because the plastic ones will melt and foul your headlamp and might also cause short circuit and fire in worst case scenario

Sigh, My Perdana GBox just passed away 2 months back and changed to a recon once and hopefully it's working fine for me. I have been using the GBox for 9 years and I can consider myself lucky because some people's Perdana GBox can even last for 2 years.

Besides that, I have added a ATF cooler which cost me around RM450 cz I wanted a bigger once for a better and faster cooling.
*
how many kms done in those 9 yrs?

Yea, bro omnipotent. If you always maintain your car then no probs yeah. Just make sure sure change the trans oil regularly every 10k or less. =). It would be fine. The only prob perdana has is the GBox only. Ntg much seems to be appearing.
*
wah 10k or less is too often already...i do it every 20k.

thankfully i don't get stuck in jams very often. summore now old already no more fire (not easily agitated by other drivers) so kalah pun kalah lah, janji gb tak overwork...lol

touchwood, will update if gb showing signs of failure cry.gif

@Bro Omnipotent: Owh, it's just my suggestion. Besides that, do you have a Auto Transmission Fluid  Cooler ( ATF Cooler ) because it cools down the GBox from overheating that cause the damage. =)
yeah, it got one installed when the car was at 50k kms...that time my dad still driving it...i was driving a waja back then but i advised my dad to install the atf cooler on the V6...

then i've also installed one on the waja and my brother's wira 1.6 as well...

we were lucky because the mechanic was my dad's friend and he manage to source these 2nd hand oil coolers (took out from Pajeros)

fyi, i now change every 15-20K km depends on the ATF color.
if already black, i change. if not, wait till 20K km.
and change the ATF filer set every 40K km or every 2nd time changing the ATF.
bro neuro, aren't you driving a TT? still using the same autogb as NA ke?

i don't wait until black ler...mine when change at 20k kms still bright red...the mechanic always say "very sayang" the oil still can use then he funnel them into a separate container and use it for free power steering top-up for his other customers.

have you checked that you've switched on the autocruise (switch located next to the steering column, behind the wiper stalk) before you push the autocruise lever on the steering wheel?

i think most of us have this problem with the ABS. Mine i took off the bulb behind it since it does not affect my normal braking...

i also notice it's happening on alot of gen7 accords as well...maybe ABS systems are prone to this?

perdana bros...need some input here...my V6 for the past 2 days has it's handbrake light "on" intermittently while driving...i'm pretty sure it's not my handbrake switch problem cos it seems to light up when i brake hard, then the light will come on and goes off after driving awhile...

do i have a brake problem? pads? disc? fluid? no screeching yet while braking n checked pads to confirm still good.
