the one you mentioned RM800+ for 1 set is what brand? Bosch?

I have a spare original Koito pair lying around after I swapped them out for my retrofitted HID. It looks new with no clouding or yellowing (mainly because the car is always parked indoors). if you are interested, i can let you have it for half the price you mentioned above.

but as far i know. our headlamp only can fit in 2.5" inch projector lens. coz been mod b4 & the guy told me tat cannot fit in bigger as the space is not enough for it.

mayb u can modified the BMW headlamp into ur car  tongue.gif . same with 1 guy i saw last time mod Harrier headlamp into his Atos.  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif
Can fit 3 inch projectors if the retrofitter is skilled enough...perdana headlamps are slim so retrofitting a projector into it makes them look awesome because of the tight fit (like jeans on a hot model) and not "hanging" in the air like those bigger headlamps i.e. myvi, atos, new saga, etc.

retrofitted projector + angel eye is fine, but HID is not.
so i dono if JPJ will saman u or not...
can make HID "appear" yellower than halogen, if we think out of the box. so far, touch wood no issues with JPJ and I always travel around Sri Petaling area.

however, i do not want to promote or give false hope on HID usage as it is technically "illegal".

the car is getting old and not many new perdanas get onto the road cos so many newer models from other manufacturers within that price range, unless you are talking about the cheapest V6 in the market (correct me if i'm wrong)

Erm...After checking 29 pages of comments here...Feel like wanna change my car...HaHa...Currently riding a proton waja... Worth to upgrade to it?
*
i was driving a waja before getting a V6. I think I've posted here before on the differences from my personal opinion...

whether it's worth or not, depends on the condition of the car you have your eyes on.

overall, you just have to love the V6 engine. rclxms.gif

i think all sixer driver also feel tat the headlight output is not enough for them. even now i using Philips Xtreme also feeling poor. mayb will install a relay kit on it to boost more power on the bulb.

sumtime u c those JPJ get roadblock. they will tahan those Estima, Merz, BMW, Alphard & etc. dunno wat is the main purpose. but i think it should b the HID kacau gua.
*
your previous HID sold already? Philips Xtreme already very short lifespan (half of normal bulbs) if you boost it will be shorter still (if you use daily maybe need to change every 4 - 6 months)

this coming 1st Nov I would have used my retrofitted HID for 1 yr already. Almost everyday use (morning to work before sun comes out and night go home after sun goes down) except Sunday. So far got stopped once by police patrol car and once by JPJ roadblock but never got saman cos they were unable to determine if i was using HID. They stared at my headlamps for a few times then just asked me to show my driver's license. Then they asked me to go.

not trying to say HID is legal or difficult to catch but just sharing my experience (maybe i'm lucky so far) and I must say that driving with proper HID is really pleasant and useful when you are travelling at 120 kph in total darkness on a highway. smile.gif

What u using now ? Bendix ?
*
i heard bendix kuat makan the brake disc so i was skeptical to use.

the spare part shop recommended me Trestor Advantage. This is the one i'm using now which solved the high speed vibration when braking.

Omni: How much is the Trestor Advantage ? Where to get ?

Any of you guys out there using Osram Nightbreaker, thinking of using that. Problem with our sixers is that the car is considered quite low (even when stock), wince most of us also lowered, the light distance will be much more affected.
i got it from the famous sparepart shop in Sea Park. RM80

i've personally used and gone through 2 sets of Osram NB. Slightly better than stock but lifetime very short (geram la need to change every 9 months) and when 1 of the bulbs kaput then visibilty lagi teruk especially when it kaputs beginning/middle of the week and you have to wait till weekend baru dapat beli replacement, so make sure you have a spare bulb all the time.

if you read through this entire thread you will find a post on my journey towards HID retrofit... laugh.gif

yes bro. i have sold my HID to another Perdana fellow smile.gif. now running on normal halogen bulb. coz been few times kena minum kopi tongue.gif.

did anybody encounter the PV6 rear brake not so grip? i feeling the car was pushing toward when i brake til hardest. even in 2pot now also feel like rear brake r making me throwing out. icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif
i think it must be the angel eye ring that caused the problem...also the HID bulb must be 4300K to appear yellowish

you can feel the rear brake not effective? i don't think the rear brakes play a very big role in everyday driving. most of the braking force is contributed by the front brakes. Maybe you're using new brake pads on your 2pot and need time to bed in before it can brake effectively?

even i off the angle eye also got kacau.

for the brake. i & my foreman tested it WITHOUT ABS working. front wheel jam. but the rear wheel still pushing forward as like not much brake force to hold it. any idea?
*
i see, then perhaps i'm luckier than you or my retrofit job is "cleaner" than the person who did your retrofit for you tongue.gif

sorry bro, not an expert in brakes...i'm the kind of driver who adapts to the car's limitation rather than having the car adapt to my driving style smile.gif

i bought the projectors online, bought the OEM HID set from a seller here, bought a new pair of headlamps and DIY-ed myself sweat.gif

it was a slow and careful process...took me about 2 months from start till finish!

cannot ler, that one will cause glare and unfocused beam which will endanger yourself and other road users. Not to mention these kits are easily "detected" and "identified" as HID by JPJ and traffic police.

HID light pattern is supposed to be spread as wide and evenly in front of the car, with higher concentration of light near the cutoff to improve distance visibility. This is achieved with OEM headlamp setups which have gone through proper R&D and design.

Non OEM HIDs cannot achieve the above, and often put out too much light directly in front of the car. This is dangerous. The excessive light in front of the car draws your eyes closer to the front of the car preventing you from seeing farther down the road. Even when you are looking far down the road, the light up front is distracting.

bukan sifu apa la...just through experience...i've used HID kits before and i always end up feeling tired in the eyes after driving with it, as though my eyes were subconciously straining themselves when driving

i did alot of research online before finally taking the risk of doing my own retrofit, there were alot of additional costs involved because i'm not electrically/electronically sound (everything needs to be bought online like the wire harness) and having the right tools really makes alot of difference in terms of effort, time and quality of the result. it was a really good experience and i enjoyed every minute and step of the entire process.

i just hope to contribute my experience in educating other users to "at least" do a proper retrofit if they want to use HID (although at the end of the day, it is still not legal) but mostly fall on deaf ears mainly because they are ignorant, retrofits are expensive, plenty of cheap China kits available and some even told me they like HIDs because they look cool during start-up...

actually i might just end up buying a china hid and test as i really don't wanna spend almost a thousand like brother koh just to swap it with someone else due to JPJ

Oh ya, what if i get 3000k HID, JPJ won't catch right ?
*
sorry bro, not able to comment coz i really don't encourage ppl to use HID kits, esp fellow V6 owners.

why don't you consider getting a pair of driving lights instead? is your's the 1st gen V6 or the alfa model? 1st gen V6 bumpers have 2 air vents on each side which can fit a pair of Hella driving lights nicely (model FF75)

your standard headlights together with the driving lights can provide much better illumination of the road and it is legal (but please aim them properly as well)

mine's 1st gen. Hhmm...maybe i will take your advice on using the Hella lamps instead. Thanks
*
are you able to DIY the wiring? if yes you can get the lamps from ENEOS (surveyed around when I wanted to buy and found that it was the cheapest). Shouldn't be too hard but the supplied metal bracket is not sufficient for mounting the lamps on V6... hmm.gif
