Maybe those consumers don't believe in online shopping gua, that's why they're not aware that they're paying at least two times more for a BD.

Wll, even though we can only listen to the DTS-Core track but ID4 on BD is many times better than the normal Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack on the standard dvd release. Better than nothing lah.

last time 2 student get caught for selling pirated dvd oversea and get income arround RM12k per month... sweat.gif
*
That one I won't deny lah, Penang is the only state in Malaysia with the most pirated genuine D9 dvds, during festive holidays, scores of KL ppl are always in Penang to shop for these babies because you can't find such dvds in KL anymore, mostly those fake D5 titles with a D9 sticker.

QUOTE(htkaki @ Apr 7 2008, 11:43 PM)
I noticed that some BDs have this 'dd 5.1 PCM Uncompressed' being printed on it (Tears of the Sun and Black Hawk Down). But, some didnt. And noticed that X-Men 3 is actually a 6.1 encoded BD.

Since it is uncompressed 5.1 PCM, I shall expect there is an improvement over our norm DVD 5.1 even it is an old AVR. Right?
*
If your old AVR has HDMI and supports PCM5.1, then there's a big improvement but if it's an old AVR, you'll only get either DD 5.1 (640kbps) or DTS 1.5 (1.5mbps), if for PCM and Dolby TrueHD tracks, you'll only get stereo sound if it's output via optical. Of course, still better than standard dvds lah, that one no need to say.

QUOTE(edvpc @ Apr 8 2008, 01:00 AM)
ur price still cant bid amazon or ebay price... sweat.gif but still cheap compare to other retailers here... thumbup.gif
*
I second that, the best place to shop is Amazon and even Play-Asia is still expensive if compared to Amazon but Play-Asia is more for buying Asian movies on BDs.

QUOTE(ooj @ Apr 8 2008, 01:07 AM)
And no need to worry about customs causing problem so even though it's a bit more expensive compared to Amazon or Ebay, I think it's worth paying for. Looking forward to seeing more titles!

Good luck with the biz, dude!
*
Well, I tumpang order a couple of times with various BD taukehs here, customs won't be an issue because we got lobang to ensure the safe arrival of our movies. wink.gif

No need to poison me lah. I will get one but aint so soon to replace my aged AVR-2802. Most probably end of this year.

I wont be buying AVR-2808 as it is just too expensive. Maybe Yammy 1800 or Onkyo 705 or 805 (if got enough budget lah since I am a peasant) Tried to borrow from rx330, but he is too afraid I 'wear grass'
*
Well, AVR-2808 sounds better than the competition. The only weakness is the DCDi deinterlacing and upscaling feature which still have room for improvement. Yamaha's RX-V1800 / RX-V3800's Anchor Bay upscaling chip works fine but the deinterlacing performance is poor as it's using the i-Chip solution, they're not using Anchor Bay's deinterlacing chip. doh.gif I think to cut cost gua. But as long as you're feeding it with 480p analogue signals, that shouldn't be a problem except for our Astro.

I think Megatron will buy AVR-2808, must poison him more. tongue.gif

If using courier, just ask them return to sender. Inform Amazon about it and they will refund to you. Do not accept the package once they arrive, else you will have to pay to return to UK.

I have to agree that the packaging is terrible but at RM80, the price is okay lah, slightly cheaper than Amazon. Fox titles are expensive, always around $27, even for old titles like Predator & ID4. Try that ebay first.

Warner prices is good, even new title like I A Legend only around $18. thumbup.gif
*
Yalor ...... Fox titles are mostly around USD27.95, itu pun if you buy from Amazon, other places are selling around USD30 plus. Of course, certain less panas Fox titles like Flyboys, Chain Reaction, etc have reduced to USD17.95.

Yes, you're absolutely right.  nod.gif

But you know lah, better prepare for future. Maybe there will be another surprise, PS3 bitstreaming via firmware update? Who knows? I mean, some time ago people say PS3 will never decode DTS-HD MA because the lack of hardware (DTS decoder chip), but now look no further than April 15th!  thumbup.gif

For HDMI, The PS3 uses the Silicon Image SiI9032, which transmits HDMI 1.3 protocols. It supports deep color and advanced audio transmission. Whether the SiI9032 supports bitstream transmission of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA or not is still a debate. It has not proven to support bitstreaming, but it has not been proven otherwise either. So who knows!!! biggrin.gif
*
The PS3 actually lacks hardware to bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA but not sure whether it can be done via software. Anyway, I'm still waiting for those upcoming Sony Profile 2.0 blu-ray players, if the price is right and the performance is as good as PS3 or better (in terms of responsiveness), I guess I'll probably get one but sad to know, only a few brands are making blu-ray players.

I guess the current trend nowadays is 50GB for the movie and 25GB for the special features, there are a number of movies with 2 BDs out there. Hopefully, they can increase the size of BD without the need to change to newer hardware.
