I watched Pedang Ikan a long time ago on dvd last time, just curious to know how's the PQ and AQ for the blu-ray version, itu aje. Nah ...... me not interested in Halle's (.)(.), not my cup of kopi. Maybe for Bro RX lah.

Transformers pulak ....... I wonder the blu-ray version got lossless soundtrack or not. The hd-dvd version got Dolby Digital Plus aje. Hai ......

Yalor, Pedang Ikan also in DD5.1 too ..... even at 640kbps, it is still behind normal DTS soundtracks encoded at 765kbps. I really wonder why they bother to release such titles on either hd-dvd or blu-ray when other studios include a lossless track or two to spice things up

Well, sadly Pedang Ikan only has a normal 640kbps DD5.1 track, not a huge improvement over the standard DVD version. Luckily, Warner has included lossless audio tracks for their upcoming Twister movie on BD.

Yeah, Face Off on BD is highly recommended, I got the HD-DVD version, the picture quality is okay, not great but acceptable, the sound is where it shines, the HD-DVD version only has Dolby Digital Plus track encoded at 1.5mbps whereas the BD version is using Uncompressed PCM 5.1 track so the BD version is obviously the superior version.

Bro Aiman, itu Celine Dion punya concert is entirely in 1080i, right? However, the menus are in 1080p/24fps pulak. Just played it on my new Bravia, 40' W400A, I didn't know about this at all since I never owned a Full HD panel all the while. I was told that most concerts and documentaries are in 1080i but honestly, there's not much difference between 1080i and 1080p signals since a Full HD panel will convert 1080i signals to 1080p automatically.

Well, the entire Celine Dion concert and special features are entirely in 1080i, only the main menu is 1080p/24fps but no complaints lah, the picture is razor sharp, not a single flicker at all so no complaints there. I guess the new Bravia Engine 2 lives up to my expectations, it upscaled my PS3 games from 720p to 1080p perfectly, the PS3 is a very notti machine, even though I selected 1080p as the default resolution, most of the games will output at 720p except for Ridge Racer 7 and Virtua Tennis 3, both can support 1080p natively. As for XBOX 360, it will upscale everything at the selected resolution regardless whether the game is 720p or 1080p, it has quite a capable built in video scaler.

No lah, Taukeh BD (mpyw) forgot to mention that I sold off my 40' V series Bravia at RM5K, then I top up RM2K for this Full HD Bravia. No point keeping it since prices of HD Ready LCDs are dropping much faster than Proton, if dun sell now, sure mati.

Of course, got other damage to my pocket lah, I bought a Supra power cord from Desa, Plaza Low Yat at RM550 and a second hand Audioquest HDMI-3 cable from my friend at RM500. This month will still buy some BDs but will be lesser, yeah ..... definitely would love to get Coyote Ugly for sure. End of the month baru get my Yamaha RX-V3800, itu my gf sponsor punya, birthday present. I guess my HD experience should be complete for now, relief a bit.



Here's Celine in full HD ..... the actual picture is much sharper and colourful than this, you gotta forgive me since I'm using a cheapo digital camera. Seriously, her concert is one of the best titles released on BD, can always use it as a demo or reference copy.

Err, why not leh? New 40' V series is RM6,499 and I'm just selling it for RM5K and it still under warranty (27 months more to go). It's a good deal after all. It doesn't matter lah, at least I have a Full HD panel now, if I don't sell now, lagi teruk as HD Ready ones will be phased out pretty soon, by then sell half price people also dun wan.

Like my Sony Wega 34' CRT tv, I put the ad here a few weeks back they even have the guts to offer me RM50 to RM100 when I bought it for RM5K last time, that one tak cukup teruk, they want me to transpot the whole tv to their house, as if I own a Harrier or MPV at home. Honestly, if for RM50 to RM100 ...... I rather keep it, it's not that I needed the money, just that I wanted to clear it to free up some space. Luckily, with luck on my side, I managed to sell it for RM700 at Mudah.Com.My so I guess that's a good place to sell our AV or Hi-Fi gear without ppl sabo-ing our sales thread.

Well, you can't get get this price in Penang for a brand new unit so I think it's irrelevant to use KL pricing for my case, some buyers have to be realistic. Anyhow, I've already sold it so end of story, willing buyer, willing seller so it's not a con case as the mods have pointed out.

If you stay and work in UK, BDs are dirt cheap, they're not overpriced actually, it's b'coz our lame Malaysian currency is nowhere on par even with US dollars, imagine if our currency is as strong as Australian dollars, things would have been different a bit.
