Its actually quite true what Sam said above. Back when I was an active raider, also the same. Raid 4 nights a week. Rushing home from work to do dailies, farm a little, then get ready for raid invites. Finish raiding @ 1 or 2am, rush to bed and sleep cos next morning work.

Save a lot at the end of the day when you think about it biggrin.gif
But really, no life

First, you need to buy the starter pack cost below rm75 if i'm not wrong, it comes with 1 month free so no worry, and you need a credit card to activate the account.

Lazy to retype.

The problem with PayPal is that you probably still need a credit card though, for verification.

Another way is to get a Visa/Mastercard Debit Card. This can work as a credit card but it works by deducting directly from your bank account rather than paying first on your behalf. I haven't really check out what the banks are doing but I remember Giro had the Visa Debit card.

Get an Al-Rajhi Bank savings account, they provide you with a Visa ATM card that you can use at WoW's account management site, and AFAIK there's no extra charges for Visa usage over the internet.

So using today's uber RM currency exchange rate at USD1 : RM3.19, the costs are:

$14.99 USD (RM47.89)- One Month Recurring
$41.97 USD )RM132.29) - Three Months Recurring ($13.99 (RM44.10) per month)
$77.94 USD (RM248.69) - Six Months Recurring ($12.99 (RM41.49) per month)

Definitely cheaper, but then again you're susceptible to the forex fluctuations. AND you don't have to mess with purchasing PayPal dollars. Or people giving you expired gamecard keys over Yahoo or MSN.

Dude...if u ready for a commitment this game if for you..lol..
im really hooked up with it..just play it like 1 month...It not so expensive if you are working..lol..like buying a top up card..only u can fully utilized it and enjoy at the same moment..

Here is my experiences:

I play the trial first, 10 days trial..to see whether it is worth it or not..
with limitation of the trial account, cannot see auction house and all, i only enjoy, 10% of the experiences..after buying the CD-Key and play it for real..dude, it was awesome..

you can buy the CD- Key at www.offgamers.com. this website is good..
they can used direct transaction online banking.. so no need to use credit card..im sound like promoting lol...

anyway..the cost

CD-Key - RM 60 (less maybe depending on the currency rate)
1st month is free, so u can enjoy playing free for 30days..

Top up card - 60 days of playtime = RM 96 (also depending on currency)

u can check up their web site..this is just alternative of credit card..

cya..in the game..lol...

It's not like you have to commit 5-6 hours a day just to play.. casuals like me also enjoy the game.. though i don't have l33t gear like some more serious players here. As long as you have friends in game and you guys do quests together and achieve goals together, that's pretty fun enough for some people. Unless you enjoy doing the solo grind lah.

It's really up to you. At the end of the day, your gear represents your commitment to the game.

one of the best post ever made by a WoW casual. instead of the random useless cry posts, you made something thats more sensible, and more importantly, understand the value of an mmo game that you play the game for what it is, and your character depends on how much time and effort you invest into it.

The new weap is 105 badges rite? 105/4 = gg lol. Nowadays its quite easy to pug a kara run, way faster IMO. i think its 23 badges for a full clear, which should take about 3-4 hours if you have the experience.

The cost to play Wow is only all the free time you can squeeze out.

If you are still studying, it is better not to play, especially if you are that kind of ppl cant resists the tempting.

Depending on types.

If dagger set, dagger MH 100+ OH 50 =150

Any weapon that is consider "main" weapon of the class is 150. (Bows, caster weapon etc.

Oh wait, isnt Cael a new server?
I heard a lot of 70s transfered there.
Damn, the economy is gonna be real f***ed up there.

Hey just a question to you guys in Oceanic server. When you're online its basically peak period for the server... is it laggy?

Reason for asking is because I'm on a US server so when I play its off peak and its not laggy, but if I log on mornings (night in US), there is a slight noticable lag at times (like instead of 300-500ms, its 500-700ms)

yep laggg during peak hours....but most ppl wount want to start wow alone so you might as well play on malaysia populated servers and REMEMBER RUSH to 70 in 2 weeks then achive 200 arena games b4 april for the arena competition you can be the next ming! drool.gif

Yes, although laggyness depends. It's not so much as the overall server though methinks. It depends on your location.

E.g. Shattrath at 8 pm is bad. FPS and latency stops up. Shattrath at 3 am has no lag. Why? Less people around Shattrath.

So, If i have to start to play this game. I have to get a starter pack first.. And the starter pack cost around RM70 with 1 month playable. So, questions here:

1) I have to buy another CD to get the expansion? Or i can use my friend punya?
2) Can i just get the 1 month reload card rather than buying the starter pack?? Than use my friend's CD to install

I dont have credit card le, so how?? can explain further abit??

Erm, u need the cdkey to activate your account, and since an online cdkey( buy from blizzard) and the cd cost almost the same, u might as well buy the cd lo. You dont need a credit card to play wow, just buy the reload card from your local game shop/cc. just like reloading your prepaid phone.

To play the expansion, you need to buy the expansion cd OR buy the cdkey online, and download, use your friend cd to install. like i said, an online cdkey and the cd is about the same price, so u might as well get the cd, at least can see all those manual and stuff

BTW the WOW battlechest is selling for 40USD in USA now, you get both ori and expansion cds, and 2 game guides from bradygames (quite useless IMO)

What i did was i used my friend's credit card to buy the cd key. Then pay him back lor.

But like orangbulu said, the price is roughly the same. Plus having a wow box seems more meaningful. haha to me, at least :/

But i would suggest you ask a friend for the guest pass that was included with the starter pack. Use that first for 10days, then upgrade the account to permanent. U upgrade by buying a reload card.

When you upgrade, you get 1 month free and so does your friend.

actually u ask ur friend to use (The Invite a Friend) from the manage account page.. then u use the cdkey that is emailed to u for trial.. then u upgrade to Normal to starter pack.. then next subscrition.. u MUST subscribe using credit card or paypal.. then only YOUR friend can get 1 month free for the 1st month u subscribed..u WILL not get a month free

What does the features of expansion?? Increase lv cap only izit?? XD Izit necessary for me ( starter + noob ) Oh and in the expansion set, did the package include 30days free play??

QUOTE(novo @ Mar 7 2008, 02:03 PM)
actually u ask ur friend to use (The Invite a Friend) from the manage account page.. then u use the cdkey that is emailed to u for trial.. then u upgrade to Normal to starter pack.. then next subscrition.. u MUST subscribe using credit card or paypal.. then only YOUR friend can get 1 month free for the 1st month u subscribed..u WILL not get a month free
*
Icic.. Actually, what is their purpose to ask us to subscribe using credit card/paypal?? Izit if the play time credit over edi, and we play some more right, they charge us 1 month play time credit with our credit card? ( u get what i mean?? ) ...

The game usually comes with 1 month free gametime, so when you install and reload 1 month of gametime, you get 2 months to play lah.

Oh, if you want to start off playing as either Blood Elf or Draenei, you need the expansion. It's worth it, and you will have to upgrade to get to 70 later, so might as well wat!

But I did use the 10-day Guest Pass that came along with my friend's starter pack.

Burning Crusade expansion :
lvl cap raised to 70, new world - Outlands, new race - Draenei, Blood Elf

Lich King expansion :
lvl cap raised to 80, new world - Northrend, new class - Death Knight, profession cap to 450 (shit man)

Because if you use a guest pass or an invite, you can only upgrade to a normal account using credit card/paypal (since you have to buy the cdkey online).

Then after that it's up to you to buy the reload card or subscribe using credit card.

correct me if i'm wrong biggrin.gif

buy the box keep it safely write down your sec q and answer then live happly ever after in wow unless you get banned...
and that 7 days to lvl 70 is impossible.....unless you got fingers of fire and dont want to explore..which you would end up doing....98% of the times..

7 days game time. Entirely possible to be 7 days rl time, assuming your body can sustain itself on WoW only.

WAIT a minute... How they count your play time credit??? Is it by how many hours you login ?? Or I login now, so in the next 29 or 30 days later, my play time credit is expired ( no matter how much i play )

also WoW promotes taking rests away from WoW, if you logout at an inn, you'll have a 'rest bar' grow on your experience bar for as long as you log out. so when you come back in, every monster that you kill will generate double XP until your rest bar runs out. turning in quests does NOT burn your rest bar, so rest often! smile.gif

I went off WoW for almost a year, and on my shaman after gaining 2 levels i still didn't see the end of my rest bar lol.

Added on March 9, 2008, 3:11 pmoh, just to confirm, rest bar maxed out at 2 levels, right?
