QUOTE(herojack41 @ Mar 16 2008, 08:16 AM) The difference between a CPU with HT Technology and a dual core CPU is huge, this is because you have two physical cores vs one physical core and a logical core split approximately 50/50 through load balancing. You'll see in the future that intel might commercialize HT into multicore CPU. Imagine quad core become octacore through HT. This post has been edited by edministrator: Mar 16 2008, 09:06 AM |

@herojack
Wow, they make comparison that HT = dual core? As what edmin say, HT concept is a real core + one virtual core. And dual core is both real core in a die. Guess they wan earn money from those people that doesn't know much about this kind of stuffs. |

@edmin
Another pxnage statement. @Herojack41 Next time dont blindly believe what they say. Did a survey on the net 1st. Somehow a miss leading speech will lead u to get pwn! Anyways.. HT actually are some architecture that used in Intel Xeon proc previously. And it later it been added to P4. Only the latest batch of P4 has this function yet not all. 1 real and 1 virtual core, meaning 1 core 2 thread. And also, currently only P4 S478 has this function. C2D like Coreo, Merom dont have this function. But according to review, Intel will going to put this function back to their new 32nm proc, the Octal core. So imagine 8 core and 16 thread. P/s: Correct me if my information was wrong. This post has been edited by fylon: Mar 16 2008, 06:55 PM |

QUOTE(charliemah @ Mar 16 2008, 08:56 PM) don't imagine now. come back 2 the real world, hahaha... well, prepare for price drops of dual core and influx of new processor generations such as nehalem and bloomfield. things are looking good. with improvements and competition from AMD, it means competitive price and better performance for consumers. meanwhile, i'll just sit back and relax with my popcorn watching the CPU tech and price war, grab one when i really need one! OK, back to s478 topic, who has added anything new to their rig recently? I just cleaned a lot of dust from my casing... a bit OT: anyone wants a USB 2.0 TV Tuner+FM Tuner? PM me pls, special offer for ppl on this thread! What you can do with this gadget? watch + record your favourite TV shows on your PC (can schedule it), record your FM channel, you can even hook up any composite/svga and record into your PC! wonderful stuff. |

Lol.. But i think until now, S478 still stand some of the value in compare of newer system. See the price of LG775 P4 and S478 P4.. S478 still worth.
Hm.. UDS TV tuner? Haha.. Saw it when i was working last time. But duno it got the function to record fav tv show and FM. |
