What are the strength of the Tyranids in the tabletop games for the Warhammer 40k universe?

They seems like very strong in the Space Hulk games whereby they can easily despatch a Terminator?

Not sure how strong are they in TT but even in a Nids mod,Genestealers are also quite strong for a T1 unit.

Hope DoW2 have them.

Tyranid is currently one of the strongest race/army in TT. The up coming 5th edition may change that but we wont know for sure.

Tyranid army is extremely customizable, compound that with generally low points in costing, large in number and lightning fast attacks in close combat they are terribly effective even in the hands of new players. Being hive minded unless all the large tyranid are dead or not around all tyranids are consider fearless.

The one that take the cheese for tyranid for the moment are their monstrous creatures. Think alien queen like creatures which can fly around and shoot bio plasma that can easily destroyer tanks and is damn bloody hard to kill and you will get the picture, and you can spam them.

You gotta be kidding me, tyranids are universally feared, even in TT; orks until the recently the new codex are cannon fodders.

In regards to the Tyranids, is their weakness lack of range weaponary given that their close combat effectiveness is a lot better comparable to the other races on the table top?

Thanks in advance for explaining this is because I am interested in the Warhammer 40k universe and I can't wait for next month PC Gamer to tell me.

I think another weakness of Tyranid is lack of vehicles since they are organic stuff.

Do correct me if im wrong.

Tyranids . . All you need is an Emperor Class Titan . . biggrin.gif

And maybe a company of two of Ultramarines thanks to their experience in beating the crap out of Hive Fleet Behemoth. RIP to the 1st Company thought.

Wrong.

Tyranid's equivalent of vehicles i.e. Monstrous creatures seems to be far superior than vehicles in almost all aspect.
For example a Land Raider or a monolith can be destroyed by a lucky single shot of rockets or las canon, no such luck for a carnifex which has multiple wounds and high toughness.

There is not a single weapon in the whole game that can kill a tyranid Monstrous creature with a single shot due to their toughness and special rule except for hand held force weapons used by the likes of Grey Knight grand master or Eldar Far Seer, but you are welcome to try getting close to them.
