bro, i'm using the same front spkr as urs. Diamond 9.4 but i dun think this spkr is wattage hungry. understand that u r driving like -0db on ur amp, something is wrong. shld check ur setting for front spkr, normally like 20db or 17db shld be ok.  smile.gif

How's 9.4? Is it a good speaker? For subwoofer setting in your AVR, do u still set your front speakers to small?

its ok for me, the reason i bought it is bcoz of its kevlar driver. together with 9.1 as the surr and sw150 as the sub. my setting is set as 'small', unless u r using 9.6. check the spkr manual that comes together with the box. smile.gif

Plan to buy 9.6 once my new house is ready. Was offered 2300.00 at Desa. Is that price good?

Got a questions for you experts. Is it OK to NOT place the 2 front speakers at a same distance from the listening location?

My TV cabinet has a pillar on one side and so the left speaker has to be closer to the listening location than the right speaker.
Will the auto setup with YPAO be smart enough to adjust for this?

Also, my center speakers is very close the the floor (sitting on 5 cms legs). Is this OK?

Thanks....

BTW, I am using a RX-V863 with NS-555, NS-444, NS-333 and NS-SW315.

Same here! planning to get a 9.6 then use my 9.4 as SL/SR speakers.. but then got advised that its better to just go straight to B&Ws for my next upgrade.. so.. i am a bit lost now.. cuz actually my room isnt big enough to get full use of the big-boys.. im just thinking for future cuz i will be getting a bigger room.. about the price, i was offered roughly the same as u here oso for them.. so.. no comment if its cheap o not.

As long as u calibrate it properly, then it 'should' be alright.. do ypao first for initial.. then manual it.. hmm i got really confuse with ypao+EQ... wtf natural/flat.. soo confusing for me.. got a friend to do it.. now the surround is not bad.. as for ure center.. if not mistaken in the avr manual it teach how to raise the center speaker sound upwards.. just try that.. cant remember on which page. but im sure its there

Agreed. Calibrated properly, and the center height thing, it's in the manual to raise it. Read the manual. icon_rolleyes.gif

Well, the manual says that to "lift" the center speaker virtually, you need another set of "Presence" Speakers, which is placed in front, left-right, on top of your TV. I don't have enuf speakers la.... so maybe I just try adjusting the center so that it points upwards a bit.....

Tilt the center speakers upward to ain at your listening position. This way, the dialogue will sound better. Mine is tilted even it is on speaker stand.

You can get a center speaker stand and place it at the bottom of the screen. How's that?

i've got a 3 row x 3 collum cabinet. the middle colloum couldn't fit the center. Anyway I'm still cheap *using 29" TV.

Anyway my stuffs are still not here waiting for my amp and will get my BR's early Sept.

I need a coffee table in between my sofa and the tv. so options to put my center on a diffrent stand might be bad as will be blocked by the table.

Will it be wrong to put the center not in the middle of my screen? *might sound stupid.

Best for the moment it to have it sit above my TV.

Else ... buy another rack lo .. sigh!

Then, don't install the center too high up. Tilt it downward.

to drive 7.1 channel speakers...the V663 will definitely under power....I felt it even with my V861 (105W/ch)....5.1 still ok, but when it goes to 7.1 or when I matrix to 7.1....the quality of the sound go down hill....

try to get a more powerful AVR if you could....am aiming for a min 130W AVR now....

sigh....when can I get enough money to use cry.gif
