Can anyone tell me why bububang said tht hiding desktop icons will increase boot time?

the question here is how can i improve my speed?
just need advice...

Well, if you have tons of it, Windows have to search for the folder Desktop and show it on Desktop (duh!). If there's nothing to show then there is some spare time for something else to load.

It's not obvious, but it's there.

But bububang said it will INCREASE loading time.....

when pc jz came(NEW) is 20 seconds

what i have in msconfig :
modem driver (it should take almost to zero resources)
graphic driver
sound manager/driver
language bar (it should take almost to zero resources)
avg anti spyware
avg anti virus
msn (it should take almost to zero resources)
nero
ms office
daemon tools

no other special effects thingy like those objectdocks, or those idk wat u call that stuff on the desktop like calender etc, widgets?

i think my registry is clogged up

i take more than 2 minutes..using vista...
any vista user here load less than 2 minutes?

for my pc vista will definately faster around 15 second.while window xp is around 20 second.10 second alredi gave to slow bios booting.If not sure very fast lol

My pc boot time is around 20-30s.......But my shutdown time is quite fast 10s only!!!!!!!!! And I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate LITE..........

i only have Kaspersky Antivirus, ATI Graphic, Audio and MSN messenger in my startup

I tot MSN Messenger takes alot of resources???

40 seconds, usind dualcore n windows xp sp3

last time 1 core loading take 2mins+

I think dualcore matter.

Just disable those unwanted startups like what i do.Many softwares inject startups that are very unnecessary.Take for example "adobe photoshop picture detection",runs in the background but eats up lots of ram.

I think it's time for u to reformat... Or if u don't want to, get a registry clean up software n start uninstalling all unnecessary software...

if i'm not mistaken, ms office takes quite a bit or processor juice..

erm, try cleaning up ur registry, bro... before i use cleaning registry software last time (advanced registry doctor pro edition) , my boot time is roughly about 2-3mins... after using it without disabling any start up programs, it reduced my boot time to 1 min... after disabling start up programs like utorrent and windows live, my boot time approx 40 secs....

Desktop icons eat ur RAM,so it took a time for ur ram to be respond.why?Icons is based on GUI.

U can try some tweaks for fast boot,faster shutdown,increase startup time by referring on other sites.

Disable prefecth can give some performance.If u using WinXP,u could use XP tool/XP tweak and etc..
which can give whatever u want,but not at all.

Best way is not to shut down your computer. Just hibernate. Resuming will take less than 30 seconds

my xp at home boot around 2 mins...lol

But u see, it's HIDING DESKTOP ICON increase boot time wo...should be showing more icons increases more time, but he said HIDING

using laptop at the moment . around 1min. still slow. want use back desktop.
