I'm a uni student using notebook mainly for assignments, musics, movies and internet. I need a computer thats stable, worth for value, good performance and can last me throughout my uni years. Will be bringing it overseas so warranty is a important issue as well.

I've did some research and have about 4 notebooks in mind approximately within my budget of +- 3.5-4K.

Dell XPS M1330 - upgrade to 2.0 GHz processor = Rm 4088
HP dv 2703tx = Rm 3999
Dell Inspiron 1450 ( or was it 1420) = less than Rm4000 i think
Compaq presario V3716TU = from Rm 3599

I hope to get some recommendations/ suggestions as I'll be getting it in few days time. Thanks alot.

Hello guyz, i'm looking for a laptop.
i'm looking for a durable one.
Don't need very high end, mostly for browsing,
downloading (direct or torrent),
chit-chatting (web cam and mic if possible),
basic gaming like gta san andreas, nfsmw and sdo,
burn some photo from camera into cd or dvd (burner and card reader if possible)
and watch movies or songs (big spaces needed/memory).
Also in future, may fix a monitor the size of 21", therefore looking forward graphics that can support.(Optional)

1. Brand
Preferably lenovo. Fujitsu and Asus come 2nd. Come with window cd. Will this brand be good? Other brand can also if lenovo is not recommended

2. Budget.
around RM2000 - RM2500

3. Specs. - i only specify the important one
*duo core technology.
*RAM at least 1GB
*windor XP profesional since vista need a lot of computer knowledge and hardware and software compatibility middleware
*at least 80GB of hardisk
*must have dvd burner (super multi dvd)

4. Size.
Doesn't really matter.

Can I know how's the afterservice of lenovo or other recommended brand?

need recommendation about notebook!!

currently research one toshiba A200/E530 and Asus F3sv
in term of build quality and stabality, which one better?

the price for A200/E530 is RM3799 with free 512mb ram (total 1G ram after free upgrade) and nvidia 7300 with 128mb external, c2d 1.73 with 2mb L2 cache. but asus F3sv cause me RM4488 and of couse with better spec, c2d T7300 2.0 with 4mb L2 cache, nvidia 8600gs with 128mb external ad 1 G ram. izzit worth for go to Asus F3sv?

i would use for run autodesk inventor and some engineer program, beside tat, i also use it for some gaming+movie+listen music, so which one will serve better?

lastly, i choose this two model is because of their 15.4 size

thanks to anyone can answer my question!!

I'm planning to buy a new laptop. Basically it is for normal school projects and watching movies etc. No games. So the most basic computer will do fine.
My budget is 2000-2600.

Problem is I dunno which brand to get. Toshiba is definitely good, I'm using one myself, but no decent one falls in my budget.

Dell is ok too, esp since the service people will go to my house. Safe me all the hassle. But now I can't choose to have it preloaded with Windows XP. Even though I have an original retail copy of XP, I'm scared if I install it, I many not find all the appropriate for my lappy. Using Vista is out of the question as it is a resource hog and I don't need any vista specific function.

HP ok also. Got any model good basic models that comes with XP or no OS? Also worried if need RMA, got to go Shah Alam. Same place with Toshiba right. But I heard the service sucks.

Hi All,

Helping my friend to buy a laptop thats light, durable and have good warranty. She will be going to Australia on 2010 for a year so it is crucial that the warranty supports her over there, and also to year 2010.

Specs are as below.
Brand could be Dell or Toshiba
Intel Core 2 Duo
Nvidia graphic card (A good one)
2GB ram
160G (Hard disc)

Is a budget of 2k++ enough for this? Or do I need something like 3-4k? Sticking between 2k to 3k would be best.

She's doing Mass Comm and will probably be doing a lot of graphics stuff. For first semester shes using

1 macromedia dreamweaver
2 adobe photoshopCS3 version
3 macromedia flash
4 adobe premiere
5 adbe addition
6 3D lightwave

Hope that gives some insight... I'm not very good at notebooks, neither am I good in the softwares that she uses, or will use... Please advice on this, it is much appreciated... Thanks in advance smile.gif

P/s Is the Dell Vostro good enough? Or she's going to need something better?

hi all, I'm looking for a laptop that has a seperate keypad from the main QWERTY keyboard. I don't need it to be a performance laptop, as I am more concerned about the keyboard and screen size than its specs. Prehaps around the pricing of 3.5 - 4.5k. Won't mind if it reaches 5k. Should be enough to run programmes like AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools and I would be one happy customer. Thanks.
