I just want to share my experience here. The difference in PQ in terms of a normal sitting distance (6ft - 8 ft) from a LCD tv (HD content, 720p) and a normal CRT tv (SD content, 480i) is really distinguishable.

Most of my friends who came to my house and watched BD movies and 720p mkv movies said the PQ of HD movies are super great compared to DVD movies on a CRT tv.

Why Astro, RTM, TV3, NTV7, TV9 or even DVD movies sucks on LCD tv? The answer is simple, all those signals are being broadcasted in 480i and then it's been displayed/output on 1366 x 768 panel, so it's like zooming out the picture, whereas a CRT tv resolution is 480i.

well, yesterday i went to best denki in KLCC to take a look for the HDTVs.. there's one place where Samsung Series 5 & 6 32" FullHD put together with a Sharp Aquos 32". The video being played is the same. what I notice is that, the Samsung's tv are noticable clearer in details and color than the Sharp's. I dont know whether it is because of the 1080p or not.
samsung series 5 is selling at 3799.

Anyone feeling dizzy trying to view movies through their LCD TV via PC input? Just 1 minute of viewing it makes me dizzy. Why is that so? wacko.gif

from reading the manual,i know this 32S400A accepts 1080p.
but if it downscales the resolution of 1080p to 720p,why then does pressing the screen mode to change the mode to Original make the video smaller?
Normal fits the screen, but Original shrinks the image.

playing 1080p media,on the other hand, fits the screen both on Original mode and Normal.

why's there shrinking with 720p media, when it should be full screen since this tv claims not to project 1080p?anyone know?

to answer your question mgsrulz,

as you know most of the 720p sources resolution are 1280 (vertical) x yyy(horizontal), yyy normally doesn't exceed 720. The vertical is normally fixed but the horizontal is always varies. All Bravia non Full HD LCD tv has a native 1366 x 768 resolution, so when you set to the Original it'll display the original size of the source for example 1280 x 688 and that's why the source will be smaller. When you set to Normal, it will upscale it to fit into 1366 x 768.

In the other hand for 1080p sources, the resolution of the source is always 1920 (vertical) x yyy (horizontal), where yyy doesn't exceed 1080. So for this source it will always fill up the LCD tv screen to 1366 x 768 no matter Normal or Original mode you set on your tv.

So you will see a bit of difference of PQ between a 1080p and 720p if you look really close.

I was comparing Samsung's 6 Series with the rest of the models... picture quality and color was so much better. Even if to compare with the 5 series model, there's so much difference in picture quality.

The Full HD Samsung 42" 6 Series was fantastic... except the price. 8k. My gosh. The 5 series 42" cost only half of it. Saw it at Denki the other day.

I bought mine for RM2,300. You can probably get it for RM2,200 or less right now. But not it Sony Shops la. They retail is for RM2,499 IINM.

I'm using it primarily for my PS3 games, a little of BD movies and connecting it to my PC via VGA for some Xvid movies also. So far, not complaints from me yet. It's what I expect from the lowest line in the Bravia Series. Its image quality needs a little tweaking (contrast/backlight/color temp) to achieve the best output but that normally depends on your eyes I guess. LOL

It's at best you go to the shop, test them for yourself. I could've picked the V-series but considering the price difference, I opted for the much less fancy S-Series. As long as it gets the job done for me smile.gif
