Liez...thanks. You should've been in our Concert yesterday.

We dont want to play the same old boring songs all Bands play in Weddings and corporate Events. Why become copycats like all of them?? yawn.gif

I really dislike seing bands that sound alike. You know la...the same old boring guitar, guitar and more guitar! It is VERY hard to see a band without any guitar. So boring, predictable, lame! Nothing original. They all sound the same.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............

That's why we dont use any silly guitar anymore like all the bands in town.

I broke my leg....lol....cant walk for at least a year. laugh.gif

if the group was the one that you formed....I will say they are perfectly good.... As long as there is one good cellist and 3 very good string players/melody players to syn together...they can play any songs and remix any classical song....The band (its called quartet but who cares what they call anyway) you formed is really good.... with a good soloist (the girl who played yu zhou chang wan) and a good cellist....everything becomes alot easier. they should get together mroe and play anything they like... can include some songs with catchy beats too such as viva la vida, romeo juliet, palladio, phantom of the opera.... I used to jam them in both normal band (guitar drum keyboard ones) and also the classical band.....both have their own taste.....and being able to jam in a classical music band seriously give you orgasm.... but all the palyers gotto gel together and understand each other really well....

so if they are real good friends and having some jamming sessions...its really good.... icon_rolleyes.gif and all of them gotto have discussion session of course.... and u have the advantage of a good pianist means good keyboardist who can use to play all the specail effects such as basss drum or whistle etc.....

Most violin at the price range of RM200-RM300 sounds almost the same... Of course there will be some below average products but chances of getting them is less than 1%. SO I will say not to worry whether it is suitable or not... but if you really concerned about it just bring her to the music school and try it. EUro String model 100 or model 200 (about RM500) sounds the good one at the moment....

YOu can also try other brands.....There are too many brands for violin in this price range and trust me.....What is important is the sound and the peg is not hard to turn around (wont keep loosening after tighten it)

Liez..you are 100% right. Not many people wanna learn Viola...which is why Violists are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo in demand all the time...while Violinists have to battle it out to survive...cos too many violinists around the world!

For every 1 Violist....there are easily 10,000 more Violinists!

indeed true.... I got a friends who is superb in violin changed to viola. How good is he??? Erm ATCL at young age...finish playing Mendelssohn violin concerto in E minor, Zingerunerweison, carmen fantasy, tchaikovsky D major violin concerto....etc..... many many years ago. 10 times better than me and is only 18 years old.... changed to viola but recently joined the AYO in Hong Kong....The violin's competition is too great....Of course you don't compete with different league fellows ....Juz gotto bring the best out of yourself and improve on your pace....thats it.

viola require bigger stretch, heavier bow pressure, and dealing with C string issue.

unlike G on violin, C string can be troublesome to find the balance between the right tension. lack of tension, it'll sound flabby and can go up in pitch if bow too quickly (string vibrato too much). too much tension, it's hard to get the C string drived and moving.

many violinist who move to viola will only make it sounds like violin with lower tuning. not many people can make a viola sounds like a viola.

fact is try to avoid learning string instruments in yamaha. Its not that they are not good.... But its not recommended since their cert is hardly recognized, fees are overpriced and syllabus seems quite funny to me. oO yea....their instruments are overprice too. Of course, To be fair to them.... They really made quality pianos and keyboard which became my favorite brand for all percussion instrument (included piano/keyboard).
