heres my review about the speed stability between e392, k5005(ori firmware) & e398(telenor)..
about the signal:
e392 can boost the signal around 25-30%(i've tested it and manage to get rssi -61(before -81 with e372 maxis) thumbup.gif
e398 & k5005 can boost up signal around 20-25%(manage to boost from -81 to -67) thumbup.gif

speed stability:
with dc hspa+ both e398 & k5005 is more stable than e392
with k5005 i manage to get this speed drool.gif

with e398(telenor) i can get this speed drool.gif

both modem perform well on stability as it can maintain within the range of 16-24mbps(non peak hours) and 10-14mbps (on peak hours) but definitely i can get the speed above 10mbps all the time with both k5005 n e398, the ping also maintain around 30-40+ms...please be noted that im not doing any tweaking on these two modem..just plug & play only..

as for e392 the stability of the speed is less compare to k5005 & e398.. sweat.gif
with e392 i manage to get the speed around 8-13mbps..

both speedtest is done after looking on the best spot to put the modem..

about the heat issue..im not facing any serious heat issue on both three modem..its only normal hot but not hot like boiling water till u cant touch the modem..
therefor i can conclude that if using dc hspa network k5005 & e398 is the best choice.but for LTE network it still cant be tested since im not subscribing to Maxis new 4g plan...but still both 3 modem is a future proof for LTE modem..thats all icon_rolleyes.gif notworthy.gif

Hi Andrew,

Can u help to explain the difference between e392 vs e398? Looking with a better reception and stability. I would like to couple it with tp-link 3g router. What's ur advice?

I'm going to pass it for my sister used in her hostel/apartment sharing with 3 other ppls. Shah Alam Intec UITM area.

Or do u suggest huawei e5331?

Thanks.

Hi there

Huawei E398 is reviewed to be better on DC-HSPA+, however technically Huawei E392 should be better on LTE since supports both LTE FDD and TDD.

Only Huawei E398 is supported on TP-LINK MR3420 v1.

Huawei E5331 is a low end budget model, Huawei E586 is a mid end model, Huawei E586E is a high end model,

We did thorough testing prior to sales, found that Huawei E586E was the best in the 21.6Mbps MiFi range. Huawei E5331 is fine if your usage area has good reception/coverage.

We will have Huawei B683 next week, it is a 28.8Mbps wireless gateway modem router, supports up to 32 devices via WiFi.

Hope that helps smile.gif

Regards

Hi there

Huawei E398 demo units are RM250 with 6 months warranty (99% as new).

As for new units we have Huawei K5005, RM300 with 6 months warranty or RMRM350 with 1 year warranty.

TP-LINK MR3420 v1 supports both Huawei E398 and K5005.

Hope that helps smile.gif

Kind regards

Hi there,

We would suggest ZTE AL621 LTE, Huawei E3256 DC-HSPA+ or Huawei E367 for budget range within RM200

Hope that helps smile.gif
