hi guys, my iphone don't seem to work with my uni WIFI.
my uni requires us to
insert some proxy and port in order to surf net.
it is the http proxy thing right?
which part of the config do i insert it to?
bootP, static or DHCP?

not sure there is a fix to it, wonder any kind soul can show me ah, i search for it and found nothing at the moment

Just add iClarified's repository into your source and install the appsupport fix.

Install Appsupport for 1.1.3 ... i think will solve your problem.

that depend on whether your uni is using DHCP or static IP isn't it?

I think you might need to configure that in your browser settings rather than Network IP or DHCP...

I am currently using an OTB 1.1.2 iphone. Recently, I seem to have a problem with my wifi. I can connect to my wifi at home and I am able to surf the internet. However, when I am using a public wifi (ie. Starbuck, etc.) I am able to connect to their wifi, but I cannot surf the internet. Safari shows me an error. And this happens everywhere, not just at a single wifi hotspot. I've tried it at various locations, but it doesn't work. It doesn't matter whether the wifi is password protected or not, I still get the same result. Does anyone else here face this problem?

Also, not sure if anyone else experienced it, but when I installed Categories 1.64-1, I realised that it depletes the battery charge very quickly. On normal usage my phone is able to last up to 2 days on a single charge. However, after I installed Categories, my phone can barely last 24 hours. After I uninstalled it, it was back to normal again. I've read of users experiencing very short battery life in previous posts - maybe this could be the culprit?

For proxy on wifi, click Settings -> WIFI, press the blue > next to the Network Name (my network or whatever) at the very bottom there is an option for proxy...

Sorry was thinking in IE mode... its not in the browser settings...

Anyway my days as an iPhone user are over I just sold my phone the day before.

Got many reason.. Mostly coz of their network.. I would said 50% public wifi not working.. Their AP usually ok, but the connection to the net is the problem.. Check whether u get the IP or not? Then check whether their login page use flash.. Iphone cannot use flash, so u cannot login.

Yes when I connect to them I will have an IP address and Subnet Mask (I think?), but I won't have a Router or DNS address. Does that matter?

i have the same problem too. i get connected i won't have the router and dns.... i think that is the problem isn't it?

yup.. Without the router IP you will not able to go to internet.. Without DNS you will not able to change url to the IP.. so iphone doesnt know where to connect if you write something like www.google.com.

So basically all needed so that you can connect to the internet.

Soft upgraded to 1.1.3, everything fine except - can't forward sms via isms, NativeCN not working. Is there anyway I can type Chinese characters in email/sms/note ? Previous firmware (1.1.2) allows me to have a small globe in the keyboard to enter Chinese characters. Any advice ? Thanks.

i delete all the edge settings
unet, maxis, wap all blank

but sometimes i still get mail in my phone
is it connected from wifi earlier?
but when i connect to wifi, no new mail, after few hours outside i see the E blue colour then get new mail

any idea bro? its like my phone can connect by itself

hey .. the sound still got crapping after change EQ to bass reduce laa..
