If they will come out just let it be - Soaking them more often do help ie 1-2 times daily !!!
Previous owner / keeper/seller must have kept them on wood chip/shaving ( what a bad choice for beeding ) .............

Both also not so easy to care for , Sulcata will be a better choice
But there are other more tropical sp ie Elongata , Red Footed ..... that do not need special heating n can be housed outdoor after a certain size !!

Ya both Sulcata and Leopard will grow much larger than Star and both have very rapid growth in the first few yrs of life !!! ie 3 inch a yr

But 7-8 inch is not the Max size for Star
- Male max out 6-8 inch ( maybe larger but never seen one past 8 " )
- Female 8 to as much as 14 inch ( never seen one that size max about 13 inch )

A few but I personally think not so suitable to be kept as pet in our warm tropic !!!

sp include Egyptian , Tent , Serrated star , Parrot beak , Spider ..........etc all about or under the 5 " mark

No right or definite answer but most wont grow pass 10 " from the many sources I have read But there are many exception of 12 - 14 incher Cherry Head !!!

How hard could that be !!! My friend posted up the many differences with pics in MF before but now sigh !!!!

All hatchlings if stressed ( starved , dyhadrated)during importation will become less hardy no matter the sp !!! So dont get a hatchling if you have a choice !!

Those Star ( Burmese ) about 10 times more valuable than the regular Indian Star !! GIVE you ?? Even at wholesale level also need RM 1.X k !!!!!

I know of someone who has heaps of them , be them hatchlings or Adults !!! But I dont think he releasing any to local markets all "exported" (Hatchlings )

I did managed to get 2 Adult Male off him early in the year and got 2 Adult Female from my supplier to pair them off !!

As not all Aldabra has that little scute ( call nuchal I think !!! ) the face should be the best to tell the 2 sp in doubt apart when they are young !!!
