QUOTE(spirit of demon @ May 19 2008, 12:22 AM)
hello guys.... here is some question

anyone buy dried tortiese pellet for their tortiese?
i juz bought the tortiese dried pellet at pet lover club sunway... but, my tortiese dun take it... got any idea?
*
QUOTE(lessilly @ May 19 2008, 01:14 AM)
not all tortoise can take dried pellet food readily
u have to trick them into eating it.
u can mix the pellet with vege n trick them to eat.
then u slow change the diet more towards pellet..eventually they wil take it
*
Like what leslie said, try to trick them. Another method is to starve them for like 2-3 days and offer the dried pellets to them. If they dont take it, try again later after feeding them with some vege. nod.gif

Sad to say dai86, ive already retired from the hobby for now. No time for them as im gonna start to work. Maybe i'll start collecting them again in the future. smile.gif

For now i need to focus on my work, having them now would make me a hell lot busy so its not a good option to keep them for the time being.

QUOTE(choyster @ May 21 2008, 01:57 AM)
RES. 6 years already i think. Those green pellet sold in fish shops
*
Long term feeding them with those pellets might bring more harm than good to them but if its eating fine then it should be ok for now. Afterwards you can try and introduce kangkung as an alternate to the pellets(3-4 meals per week would do best) and feeding fish as a snack to them which to be given 1-2 time per week.

QUOTE(dai86 @ May 21 2008, 02:49 AM)
actually to say the true lah, i dunno why do law band people having star? and i am so angry that they catch people with star, but they gave out lesen and allow people to hunt other own country protected animal! such as deer and poccupine and elephant!! huh.. acting to protect the tortoise, but letting other animal to die~~
*
Got license to hunt elephant ka ? tongue.gif

For mousedeer and porcupine, hunting them would balance their numbers in the wild because there's a quota for each hunter on given time frame iinm. Which means only a few of them can be hunted and only on specific time allowed.

Where you bought? An aquarium shop is it?
Normally people at Aquarium shop just cincai feed the RES... they normally give died fish, cheap fish pellets or kangkong  sad.gif
*
Its normal to give dead fish to the turtles to minimize their operating cost. Kangkong is a good choice for turtles bro, in fact the best so far that i know.. hmm.gif

Uzairi, I notice that my aly's appetite seems to be shrinking. What happened ar? The reaction when trying to catch fish is also slower.
*
I think its normal so dont worry, normally hatchlings will eat a lot and their appetite will decrease slowly to a stage that they will eat like 2-3 times per week depending on individuals.

its the green parasitez......i duno the kind like your pic 1 can be rub or not....
i alwiz rub my little ninja turtles.......once they are dirty...i will giv them some polishh....
*
That is caused by the sunlight, which promotes the growth of algae or some sort of them.

QUOTE(dai86 @ Jun 13 2008, 11:04 PM)
turtle shell no need to polish, just rub it off. hehe.. use soft brush~ haha.. last time i always brush my RES with soft tooth brush. but released them after they were big enough. haha...

btw, the soft shell that i have is it same with the picture post by sampert?? seems the same, but different color. haha... maybe bacause it's small... any idea?
*
RES shell can be brushed yes, but not soft shell type carapace like ally snapper, mata2x and some others where the carapace are somewhat soft when they are small). Pls take note. wink.gif

Hi, i have a question. Can you put snake necked turtles with red eared sliders? big ones though
*
It depends actually, ive seen a friend of mine keeping a few species together with one species having 2-3 members. If they fight just relocate them, and introduced back later.

Hi guys, i need some help urgently. My star seems to have some waxy build up in her eyes (watery though). Her left eye can still be opened but her right eye the build up is quite allot It's like she has a cold or something. Any advice?
*
Feed multivitamins, open the basking lamp and bask your st. Do bask them under the sun too, that would better compared to uvb bulbs.

how big is your st ?
