2nded...aih...would get a sulcata for that price. lol...possibly a bigger ally snapper...XD

I would get that Big Headed Turtle if given the choice to choose between Big Headed and Sulcata without much consideration. Aside from the reasearch needed to be done in order to prepare myself for this fragile and wonderful specimen.

They wont grow that fast so do not worry.

ST need to exercise too, just let them graze on ur garden once a week would do. At the same time u can bask them under the sun also, which is good for them.

hi all..i noticed my little star got white thingy in her urine/shit. i've noticed it 2 times already, in ard 1month plus. it's ard 3 to 4mm in diameter, a round white stone like ball shape, made up of many tiny tiny stone like thingy..it's v hard when i press it. it's like a sand dough. issit too much of calcum intake? i already stop the sprinkled of cuttlefish bone powder.., but i still notice it, thou smaller abit. why is this thingy happening? maybe not enuf of sun...  n oso alittle diarrhea, haiz...sad. wonder if only feed cai xin, will lead to such? i feed him tomato with with caixin ard 2 times a week. i'm sure not tomato causing e lose shit..cos this 2 weeks i've not feed it.

btw, he's oso with runny nose sad.gif but sometimes seem to be ok... got ways to cure his runny nose?

sad....wat's wrong with him.... icon_question.gif star is reali nt easy to tk care of.. i've 2 RES n they're ard palm size n they're strong n fine..

White thingy in her urine/shit - white poo

Means the calcium supplement too much or not absorbed by the body. Why ? Read below.

Not enuf of sun - no uva/uvb for them

They need sunlight/basking because they are cold blooded and need outside source of heat to regulate their body temp. They also need sunlight to synthesis vitamin d in their food/supplement. Heat also helps them digest the food better and be active(You can notice the differences a lot). If you dont have time to bask them under sunlight you can opt to use the UVB bulb + basking lamp combo for it.

Tomato with with caixin

Tomato is a bad food for st, period. Not sure what is caixin. You should feed your st with mustard greed (sawi) daily as it contains a lot of fiber and very good for your star too.

Runny nose

Runny nose or RNS (Runny Nose Syndrome) is the most common problem with st, which reflects your bad husbandry. smile.gif If you need any help on this please give us a pic of your setup so that we can comment more.

One of my tortoise is having running nose n i have brought it to a vet for antibitotic injection, every alternate day (as the vet instructed), however there's no improvement at all even though 4 doses of injection were given, i can't see any sign of recovery, in fect the condition seems to be worsen, anyboby have experience with these?

The temperature n moisture condition of the enclosure is ok

What's the temperature and moisture reading ?

QUOTE(valjean @ Aug 20 2008, 10:15 AM)
i dont know why...you guys keep asking whether is your star a indian or burmese. come on guys...what you pay is what you get. dont expect your seller to give you a burm when you are paying RM 100-200.
*
Damn true!

QUOTE(kenn91 @ Aug 20 2008, 10:20 PM)
I'm not experienced in the marketing world and new to the tortoise so i'm not sure and would only ask bout it's species. You think i would ask you if i already know??

You should understand what's the main purpose of the uv light and from there you should know where to place them.
