QUOTE(beycont @ Apr 3 2008, 11:38 AM) I took it somewhere in the middle of the basking light and the cool end of the enclosure. As for the higher watt, that is one of my concerns of raising the temp too high, but i read somewhere that if the condition in the enclosure is warm and humid it will be ok for stars? As opposed to it being cold and humid. What kind of hygrometer you are using currently ? Analog or Digital ? QUOTE(blazin_fir3 @ Apr 3 2008, 12:02 PM) Give birth? o.O You should be aware that TTT's lay eggs so that would make ur fwen a breeder? is it RES? It doesnt mean her friend is a breeder even if there is some baby turtles/tortoises coming out.

I can get the humidity to go as low as 48% with the basking light on normal days.
I use a normal 2.5ft tank with a wood top and a recycled paper pellets.

QUOTE(Jamien @ Apr 4 2008, 11:26 PM) Uzairi~ Why issit bad to brush ally's shell with a toothbrush? Because their back is soft compared to normal turtles, brushing them might hurt and stress them. Their carapace contains lots of nerves endings and brushing them might hurt, its better if you install a good filtering setup to counter those stuff at the carapace.

QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Apr 8 2008, 03:24 PM) The first one Trachemys scripta sp ( same sp as the RES but slight colour variation from genetic ) IINM it was referred as melanistic RES, which happens to some of the old male RES in general. Added more info about melanismMelanism and abundism are often the result of genetic mutation, but can result from other stimuli, such as exposure to abnormal temperature changes during gestation which transiently alter gene transcription or translation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MelanismThis post has been edited by uzairi: Apr 8 2008, 06:55 PM

QUOTE(anbusan @ Apr 8 2008, 06:32 PM) selain sawi and pallet what should I feed my RES? I just feed my RES with sawi everyday and pallet once a week. I feed mine with kangkung alternately with those turtle pellets and occasionally some feeding fish as treats.

QUOTE(askme @ Apr 9 2008, 05:59 PM) Greeting All, This is my first time ever to post here, after reading for quite sometimes to do research before keeping the TTT & join the TTT Club . Currently I'm keeping 3 RES (2 Teen & 1 Baby), A Pair of Baby Fly River & 1 Star. Seeking advise frm Sifu here, do I need to Sun Bath my Fly River Turtle, like what I did to my RES & ST, or just let the FRT playing the the aquarium ? Thanks in advance ! P/S: sorry for any eng-typo.. Do you keep your FRT together ? If so, try to separate them as they might fight with each other and might lead to severe injuries. About the sunbathing, i dont think its necessary for them. The most important thing is the water quality, a good filtration system should be used for them. Welcomet to TTT family! Feel free to use the TTT tag for your siggy!

price wise it depends on the specimen. Do read their caresheets and requirements before getting them so that you are already prepared when they are in you hands.

Its native here but finding them is more difficult compared to ST because lack of demand. The aggressiveness depends on them but usually happens on breeding season.

radiated is a tropical species, it is more hardy and as fragile as st so any size would do.

QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Apr 11 2008, 07:39 PM) Radiated , Tropical ?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiated_tortoiseQUOTE(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiated_tortoise) They prefer dry regions of brush, thorn (Diderae) forests and woodlands of southern Madagascar My bad.. From what i gather from the informations.. grasslands, woodlands and humid forested areas would be good enough for them. A plus considering they can tolerate our humidity well too. It would be best to describe them as tropical-suited tortoise. My apologies fellow TTT members.
