Hi all, i'm not sure if there's a thread for this since i don't think i seen any for several pages. I recently purchased a RC 1/16 Tiger I tank (i'm a big avid fan to tanks) and i was wondering if anyone have collected these RC tanks? I look forward to collect a few more like King Tiger and Leopard tanks (i hope they release a Maus). I learnt that these RC tanks can be equipped with the Battle System, does anyone know where to get it in KL? There's also a few questions to the RC tanks collectors like, how much abuse can the tank take in rough terrains (open grounds)? Also, is there any place that sells metal RC tanks? Those babies can crush a toy car! rclxms.gif

For those who don't have any knowledge about them, they can fire BB pellets (6 mm size) and according to their manuals, up to the range of 25 to 30 meters (i'm not sure if it's true or not but i'm gonna test it out tonight). It has some lighting and various sound effects from starting the engines, to firing the turret (with shock effect) and machinegun sounds.

The drums behind the tank generates smoke. A very nice cosmetic effect there thumbup.gif

Dood... nice stuff... Although I'm not in RC but looking at your tank... got me interested...

but from your video the speaker is HL.
woo, the upgrade part is pricy.

I meant currently. In that video still using the HL speaker. Yeah, upgrade is pricey. This teaches me in the future just buy complete tank like MATO all metal tank (~RM1500) or Tamiya or Taigen metal tank.

This is new video with better speaker.

The TK22 sound a lot better than the HL generic sound but the tank control, needs to configure the radio to get the tank driving nicely. The control too sensitive though, you will be able to get used to it after a while. There are other boards but will cost more like IBU2 & EL MOD which both allow you to change the tank sound. Clark TK22 doesn't allow you to customize the sound but you can add Benedini TBS Mini (C$140) if you want better engine sound.

HL Tiger I metal tracks set (including metal sprocket & idler) = RM150
HL steel gear gearbox = RM70
MATO Tiger I metal road wheels = RM257
MATO Tiger I metal black suspension = RM67
Clark TK22-T1 = RM353

The metal road wheels are unnecessary though. It only add weight. The plastic road wheels are nice enough. If you get asiatam or taigen metal lower hull then the metal road wheels will be nice addition.

When you upgrade to 2.4GHz, you will upgrade the sound too. Clark TK22 is both multifunction board & sound board.

For sound effect only, the beier sound unit usm-rc-2 is what many people use. It work with HL RX18 board. It's expensive, no less than RM800 if I'm not mistaken. Pretty much the TK22 is cheaper.

The installation of Clark TK22 is easy & plug n play. You just connect the cables from the tank to the TK22 & you will get all tank control function except airsoift. Airsoft will need re-wiring a little. Then you just need to configure the radio like trim or subtrim. If you want to get TK22, make sure you also buy the IR receiver & the SONY remote control for programming the TK22 board.

If you want save you from the trouble better get full complete upgrade tank. The MATO metal tank come with Clark TK22 & all metal upgrade, including MATO brass gearbox. It's IR tank by the way, so you'll get barrel recoil too. You just need to save money around RM1600. Check out battlezonerc.com. Local online store which where I bought the MATO upgrade from. The TK22 also from him.

The TK22 is also multifunction board. It will replaced the RX18. You also will need hobby grade 2.4GHz radio (& receiver) like Turnigy, Futaba, etc. Minimum 4-channels radio.

For transmitter I use Walkera Devo 7 radio because I already have this radio. It's 7-channels radio & come with receiver. Make sure when you buy radio, it also come with receiver.

I re-read your post & I can see the confusion here. Let me try to clarify.

The RX18 board in your tank use FM radio transmitter & receiver. You can't use 2.4GHz transmitter & receiver with RX18. That's why when you want to upgrade to 2.4GHz, you will need new multifunction board to replaced the RX18 and also you will need new (if you don't have one yet) 2.4GHz transmitter & receiver. Clark TK22 board is designed to work with 2.4GHz transmitter & receiver.

"When you upgrade to 2.4GHz, you will upgrade the sound too. Clark TK22 is both multifunction board & sound board."
Basically I meant that when you want to upgrade to 2.4GHz, you will need to upgrade to new multifunction board like TK22 to replaced the RX18. You can't upgrade one by one. If you thinking the HL 2.4GH system like HL have in their Leo 2a6 & T-34 tanks, the HL transmitter is not compatible with TK22 because HL 2.4GHz system is proprietary.

No need extra battery but optionally you can get higher capacity battery for longer run.

Almost 1000 I think. smile.gif

If it's almost 1000 (maybe around 700 to 800 for both TK22 & controller), if you want save you from the trouble better get full complete upgrade tank. The MATO metal tank come with Clark TK22 & all metal upgrade, including MATO brass gearbox & transmitter and receiver. It's IR tank by the way, so you'll get barrel recoil too. You just need to save money around RM1600. No need to upgrade anymore. Check out battlezonerc.com. Local online store which where I bought the MATO upgrade from. The TK22 also from him.

RM1600....is totally out of my budget.
I think one of the reason the HL tank r selling well bcos of the unit price.
HL give u an option to mold based on your budget.

btw, any good brand 2.4 controller to recommend?? looking for good & budget but price range prefer rm200 below. so far the the existing controller really bad...easy jam & cannot go further.

I agree but HL german tanks have a lot of problem. If you decided to address this problem & more, it can cost you more than 1600 (including the cost of the tank).

Turnigy 9X or 9Xr maybe can get around 200 but make sure the product stated it come "with module" & also receiver. Turnigy tend to out of stock everywhere though. Other than that I'm pretty sure you can get a radio below 300. You need to shop around to find the one within your budget or get second hand.
