why SD? most Canon PnS nowadays uses SD card. so, when 450D uses SD, lotsa canon users will jump into the dslr bandwagon. marketing

yup with SD makes it easier for PnS user to upgrade to DSLR

ya see, all amatuer dslr lineups, 350D and 400D, more or less it's like a white mouse for Canon. to try out new tech on the consumer market b4 they decide to roll out better semi pro and pro dslr. even 1dM3 has 10mp only.

bad technology advancement is moving so fast these days you can barely catch up.

But compare to other competitors, A200 can do, D40x can do. I don't understand why Canon still refuse to do it. Yes, I agree, not all the time we need it, but it is nice to have when we need it. Some might argue we can shoot -1 EV in ISO1600, but that require more post processing.

this is sick..i just got my 400D last months for RM 2600, and this going to RM 2700 ?? no way man, i wish it better is over RM 3K, then i will feel much more better...

Nikon D300 noise control is getting very closed to the Canon 40D. Before this, Canon is about 1 stop better. Some said D300 has cleaner picture, I think it is, but it achieves by sacrify the details due to heavier noise reduction.

Not sure how this 12MP 450D can achieve the same noise level as 400D. But I rather have a 8MP sensor with 2 stop better ISO. If the rumor Nikon D60, D90 whatever is using the D300 12MP, Canon 40D 10MP sensor already can't beat the D300 12MP sensor, do you think the 450D 12MP pixel can?

why are you even comparing a d300 with a 40D? one is using 12mp and the other one is only 10mp. The diff is clear already when you're pixel peeping. Yes both of them are semi pro dslr but when you want to compare images right off the sensor, 12mp holds more advantage to 10mp.

then when 450D to 40D/50D, SD to CF again mer???

Canon isn't the best in noise control anymore, every brand has a CMOS now. The D300 and A700 have comparable levels to the 40D.

The CMOS noise control would've been what made my decision for Canon 2 years ago... but I realized that the ergonomics and features are honestly lacking. Only now does the 450D put a Spot Meter and a better grip!

Also, the 400D was noisier than the 350D because they bumped up the resolution. We don't know how the 450D will fare because they bumped it up again!

The 450D is going to be priced higher than the A200... but the A200 is fighting the 400D, which will drop price. The Live View Sony A300 will come later to fight the 450D and D80 replacement.

I'm comparing noise level of their sensor. D300 12MP is very close to the 40D 10MP in term of noise.
So I am wondering, how is the 450D 12MP sensor in term of noise.

that will a good sign for consumers or those who want to buy a new DRSL camera like me....should wait until March and get 400D after 450D launch.

Well, if 450D retains the same sensor as 350D/400D... not good for noise performance... same fate as 400D over 350D. Or even if 450D can retain good noise performance, more loss of detail will be expected due to hardware/software noise reduction.

In this case I believe 400D will still have its place... just like how Nikon segmented D80 and D40x in their entry line-up, Olympus with their E-510 and E-410, and Sony with their (soon to come) a300 and a200. Pentax will need to catch up too.
