To my fellow canonship..

I am new in this DLSR..
Got my 400D last week..
Gone to KL Street Shooting + TT session yesterday.. it was fun..

I was wondering.. if you were me..
- the lens you got is only kits lens.. batt grips..
- like to shoot portraits shots, landscape shots, still shots, macro shots, street photography & candid shots..
- budget within RM1000 per lens..
- what lens are recommended value to money.. cheap but good lens.. (everybody love this...) laugh.gif

Pardon me for this uncertainty noobness question... tongue.gif

hmmm...

kitlens will do just fine if you're not a bokeh freak.

Portraits? go for the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8, or the Sigma 28-60mm f2.8, mostly 2nd hands 1 will do just fine, check for the condition of the product 1st.

landscape, definitely the tokina 12-24mm, 2nd hand you can get 1 whihc is below 1k, just look for it. Built quality is f*cking superb!

Macro, i'd suggest the cosina 100mm f3.5, but it does not have auto focus, but who needs auto focus in macro anyway? wink.gif

Street photography? this one im not too sure, for me the kit lens will do just fine, for candids, get the Sigma 70-300mm smile.gif

if u compare these 2 i'd go for the sigma 28-70, the reviews from a foreign magazine tested and said that its better than one of canon's L lens o_O

so if u wanna compare sigma 24-70mm and tokina 28-80mm, go for the tokina 28-80mm instead. smile.gif Its proven sharper and better than the sigma.

Hmmm, depends on your distance between your subject and background. A good lens to cope with that is the tamron 17-50mm f2.8 very famous. DIY can but if done incorrectly it will look weird.

No problem biggrin.gif

get a Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro

Good Macro + Portraits lens. Long enough for candid shots. Bokeh is awesome.
A used one is around Rm12xx. Brand new around RM16xx
