Almost all of them this year are just mediocre.

We'd have our opinions but I disagree that this year is mediocre. Just saw David Cook and his rendition of the Carey song was awesome. I'd buy his album (original, I mean ) this second if it's out!

I disagree as well. This year has been unique in my opinion. I actually found last year boring.
I've so far held my reservations about David Cook's originality (that Billie Jean arrangement wasn't his) but this week....just hand the guy the damn thing already! I know it is still a long way to go but this guy is the raw deal.
Meanwhile I'm going to search for a youtube recap of his performance

well i did say im a fan of cooks.. but in overall talent, this year lacking to last years....
but anyhow.. we are all straying a bit off topic, comparisons are fine but lets just enjoy the music eh? (even tho i started the whole comparison thing)

i still stand its not as good as previous years but that doesnt mean i cant enjoy this year as well.

btw, its a bit too bad but i missed the first half of todays show...
cooks song when he started i thought it wasnt goin to work but when he added the rock element he was taking no prisoners.

Yea, but what about the other contestants? David Cook as mentioned obviously stands out above the rest. In previous seasons, you could see at least 2, or 3 potential finalists. I think you could only mention 1 right now at this stage.

Anyway, Cook was amazing this week I thought.

Carly, two Davids and Jason are all on par if you ask me. It's just that Cook and Archuleta are peaking. I think White is out of it and KLC is a goner no matter what she does.

So far the most impressive male AI performance for me is Chris Daughtry - "I walk the line" and Blake Lewis - "you give love a bad name", cook still not up to that impressive level.

Actually my fav male contestant is the superb Elliott Yamin. Amazing voice + personality. Was really rooting for him to win, but that season was really tough.

One of my fav Idol performance.
