if that is the case, is it worthwile for me to say get 200 units, seeing that they only give out dividend twice a year, and also the remiser fee involved.

Declared 25% dividend (Less 25% tax) and 1/68 bonus share.
So only
1) RM250-RM62.50 = RM187.5
2) 1/68 based on RM12.10 = RM180.

Total 187.5 + RM180 = RM367.50

.....boleh tahan.

hmm i wouldn't include the bonus shares in the payout calculation.. since stock dividends are similar with stock splits, we don't receive anything that we don't already own

but the psychological effect of seeing your number of baby pbbank shares grow is... priceless drool.gif drool.gif

Stock dividends are not the same as stock splits or "bonus" shares (which creates extra shares)
These are shares bought by the bank during a share buyback and kept as treasury shares to be cancelled or in this case given as dividend shares (total shares in teh market remain the same).

That's a tough question to answer.
I started buying when the price was low and added from time to time.
Thru averaging I think the cost per share is about RM7.

I am buying for the dividends (about 5%) and also the potential growth especially in Indochina and China.

sohkeong,

Why are you buying PBBank??

There are 2 kind of people that buy PBBank,

1) Dividend investor

People that buy PBBank for the dividend. As long as the the dividend yield as per the stock price, they buy. They judge whether the dividend yield is attractive as compare to the FD rate. They have a benchmark. For example, if the dividend yield is 2 X FD Rate, they buy.

And, they ONLY sell if the stock do not generate good enough dividend anymore.

2) Buy and sell people.

People that buy and hope to make money by selling at higher price. PBBank's stock is NOT VOLATILE. This is NOT a good goreng stock.

You NEED to learn the BASIC

To invest on anything, you need to KNOW

A) Right price to buy

B) Right price to sell

C) When to buy

D) When to sell

E) How you can make money

F) How you can lose money

If you cannot answer (A) to (F), you should not invest / gamble at all.

Dreamer

In my opinion PBB is damn good to hold. What matters is the entry price. After many years of growth still sustain above 20% ROE, so we can see the share price is steadily increasing.

I am so happy that I bought some when it was dumped in last year March.

blue chip will drop too, I guess you will not say the same word if you bought at may 2008.
may 2008 -> 11.80 drop to march 2009 -> 7.00.
The importance are fundamental analysis(Guess you do not need this for pbb because pbb is a solid company), but technical analysis is important including those news/goverment decision that will affect finance sector.

PS: now is around the top, do you think pbb will stay at 12.00 forever? or keep increase forever? everything up will down eventually, maybe this time will reach another peak which is at 15 and drop back. Nobody can correctly give you the exact answer.

When there is UP, there will have DOWN... it is just "WHEN" and the extend of it in %. 12 to 7 is still less than 50% but if 12 to 0.70 is a whopping 94%; almost totally whip out the capital, worse close shop.... laugh.gif

Again a solid company will come back easily when the market recover. The most important thing is it must be in business and PBB still pay you better than FD "living expenses" when market is bad... tongue.gif. That is the different between a solid company and a.... company.

When the fundamental is still solid, the decline in price will only mean a chance for me to accumulate more. If you look at the price before, every price was a peak wasn't it ? In my opinion if they still sustain growth, I don't see why not they can't stay above RM12.

By the way, even the price dropped to about RM7 in last year, now it has been going up even better and higher than before. However, I would not buy it in May 2008 as you said. Again entry price and timing is the most important at all. So I m gonna curse PBB drop more, so that I can grow more. rclxms.gif

agree, PBB is a solid company as I said in my previous post, to maximize profit, the person should not enter this counter blindly as said by rayloo's previous post. TA is important for solid company.

Hmm, finance counter do not solely rely on "profit", any speech or decision made by government or "news"(such as subprime etc etc) would definitely affect the counter price.

PS: I'm didn't say PBB is a lousy counter, I just wanna say that even thought you are buying a solid company's stock, TA is very important to maximize profit. Entering market blindly will minimize your profit unless you want to keep it for maybe 20years, then the effect is too small to be able to notice.

Agree, good company does not mean good stock to buy. That is why I curse PBB. whistling.gif TA is very helpful to find entry.
