QUOTE(Singh_Kalan) here's some history lesson for u:- in 1997-98 crisis PBBANK loss 85% of its market cap. At current price 8.50, it only lose 28% of its market cap from its peak. Even if it drop to 5.00, it only lose 58% of its market cap. Assuming the same loss of 85% repeating, it's price will drop to 1.85. The above does not suggest that the price will drop to certain value. It's just history lesson. If it is really 85% then it is good for buyers, but we should consider it's earning capability is not same from 1997. |

Techical analysis only shows results after things have happened, I guess can't fully rely on it.

Hello everyone, I am getting in PBB share. But what is the difference between PBB and PBB01 ? Which one to buy is more recommended ?
I know maybe this question is common, I could make thread search to find out. But I am in office now and time is rushing so I sorry for this FAQ again. |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Mar 11 2009, 04:33 PM) Pbbank -O1 is for those foreigners that bought it got voting right in it. Because they limit foreign shareholding (with voting right) up to 30%. Thanks, Cherroy.Foreigner still can buy Pbbank (local), but no voting right. While Malaysian still can buy Pbbank-O1 which entitled all the same benefit with Pbbank (local). So if both are the same and identical in term of benefit as shareholder, which one to buy? This answer I don't need to giv already. |

In my opinion I don't judge PBB by technical analysis. After all PBB is not a goreng stock. People buy it because of its fundamental. If I sell it today to cash out the profit, then the buy back price would be below RM9 else it would not make sense. If we take into consideration about the coming dividend.

QUOTE(mok thye yee @ Jan 15 2010, 07:13 AM) Tay AK is just a doer, not so much a strategic thinker, to survive in Malaysia Banking, strategic thinker is important. Oh.....that is too bad to hear that. if u ask senior management, Teh HP is still very much hands on, he even look at loan portfolio, and approval of loan, to that extend. He attended mgmt meeting weekly...... Genting is having a very good succession planing, uncle Lim pass to his son year b4 he pass away. And his son is running the show independantly...... he is no longer hands on after pass over the baton. In microsoft case, bill gate and his founder group still in control, and he is not old enuf to worry about succession . |

Declared 25% dividend (Less 25% tax) and 1/68 bonus share.
So only 1) RM250-RM62.50 = RM187.5 2) 1/68 based on RM12.10 = RM180. Total 187.5 + RM180 = RM367.50 .....boleh tahan. This post has been edited by rayloo: Jan 20 2010, 12:53 PM |

In my opinion PBB is damn good to hold. What matters is the entry price. After many years of growth still sustain above 20% ROE, so we can see the share price is steadily increasing.
I am so happy that I bought some when it was dumped in last year March. |

QUOTE(ExpZero @ Jan 25 2010, 10:59 PM) blue chip will drop too, I guess you will not say the same word if you bought at may 2008. When the fundamental is still solid, the decline in price will only mean a chance for me to accumulate more. If you look at the price before, every price was a peak wasn't it ? In my opinion if they still sustain growth, I don't see why not they can't stay above RM12. may 2008 -> 11.80 drop to march 2009 -> 7.00. The importance are fundamental analysis(Guess you do not need this for pbb because pbb is a solid company), but technical analysis is important including those news/goverment decision that will affect finance sector. PS: now is around the top, do you think pbb will stay at 12.00 forever? or keep increase forever? everything up will down eventually, maybe this time will reach another peak which is at 15 and drop back. Nobody can correctly give you the exact answer. By the way, even the price dropped to about RM7 in last year, now it has been going up even better and higher than before. However, I would not buy it in May 2008 as you said. Again entry price and timing is the most important at all. So I m gonna curse PBB drop more, so that I can grow more. QUOTE(ExpZero @ Jan 26 2010, 11:42 AM) Hmm, finance counter do not solely rely on "profit", any speech or decision made by government or "news"(such as subprime etc etc) would definitely affect the counter price. PS: I'm didn't say PBB is a lousy counter, I just wanna say that even thought you are buying a solid company's stock, TA is very important to maximize profit. Entering market blindly will minimize your profit unless you want to keep it for maybe 20years, then the effect is too small to be able to notice. Agree, good company does not mean good stock to buy. That is why I curse PBB. |
